MADELINE F. TAYLOR, 84, of Whiting, MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, died yesterday at her son's home in Whiting. She was a former communicant of St. Catherine's Roman Catholic Church, Spring Lake, and a member of its Altar Rosary Society, and S.C.A.M.P. She was a 30-year volunteer at St. Peter's Hospital, New Brunswick, and delivered Meals on Wheels in Spring Lake and Belmar for many years. Mrs. Taylor was born in Newark and lived in Spring Lake and in Lakewood before moving to Whiting in 1997.
Her husband, John S. Sr., died in 1980. Surviving are a son, John S. Jr., Whiting; two sisters, Mary Farrell, Lakewood, and Katherine Bert Meuerle, Belmar; and a grandson. Carmona-Bolen Home for Funerals, Whiting, is in charge of arrangements.
MAUREEN E.'QUEEN' O'LEARY, 79, of MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP

MAUREEN E."QUEEN" O'LEARY, 79, of MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, died Sunday at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. She was a communicant of St. Mary's Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth, Middletown Township. Mrs. O'Leary was born in County Antrim, Ireland, and came to the United States in 1908, living in Middletown before moving to Manchester 2 1/2 years ago.
Her husband, Michael, died in 1993. Surviving are four sons, Gerard, Matawan, Donal, Brooklyn, Eugene, Red Bank, and Kevin, Middletown; a daughter, Patricia Devlin, Red Bank; 13 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank, is in charge of arrangements.
SAMUEL SORCEK, 83, of MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP

SAMUEL SORCEK, 83, of MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, died Sunday at Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood. He was a World War II Army veteran, a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church, Manchester, and the Golf Club of Leisure Knoll, Manchester. Mr. Sorcek was born in New York and lived in Queens, before moving to Manchester 12 years ago.
His son, Robert, died in 1991. Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Margaret Rochovanski Sorcek; a brother, Martin, Quakertown, Pa.; and a grandson. Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, Lakehurst, is in charge of arrangements.
STANLEY W. SZCZERBA, 82, of BRICK TOWNSHIP

STANLEY W. SZCZERBA, 82, of BRICK TOWNSHIP, died Monday at Laurelton Village Nursing Home, Brick. He was a machinist at General Motors Corp., Clark Township, for 40 years, retiring in 1973. He was a member of St. Dominic's Roman Catholic Church, Brick, and the Old Guard of Greater Point Pleasant. Mr. Szczerba was born in Jersey City and lived there before moving to Brick 24 years ago.
His son, Robert, died in 1988. Surviving are his wife, Stephanie Wajejklo Szczerba; a son, Walter, Brick; two sisters, Mary Bilski, Jersey City, and Helen Kowalski, Toms River; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Colonial Funeral Home, Brick, is in charge of arrangements.

THERESA CARSON, 59, of TOMS RIVER, died Monday at home. Mrs. Carson was born in Jersey City and lived in East Keansburg before moving to Toms River in 1975.
Her daughter, Marie Hammel, died in 1988. Surviving are her husband, Clarence "Sam"; three sons, Billy Jr., Neptune, and Daniel and Kenneth, both of Toms River; two daughters, Leona Adams, Florida, and Karen DePremio, Bayville, Berkeley Township; four brothers, Michael Parker, Denville, William Parker, Atlantic Highlands, and Joseph and Ronnie Hegle, both of Keansburg; three sisters, Carol McKenna and Joann Tirado, both of Keansburg, and Donna Mercado, Keyport; 14 grandchildren; and a great-grandson. Jacqueline M. Ryan Home for Funerals, Keansburg, is in charge of arrangements.

WILLIAM J. MEYER, 80, of LAKEWOOD, died Monday at Community Medical Center, Toms River. He was a chemical operator at Diamond Shamrock Co., Carlstadt, for 45 years, retiring in 1979. He was a communicant of St. Pius X Roman Catholic Church, Forked River, Lacey Township, a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post, Bamber Lake, Lacey Township, and was a World War II Army veteran. Mr. Meyer was born in Jersey City and lived in Long Branch before moving to Lakewood in 1991.
His wife, Catherine, died in 1997. Surviving are a son, Bill, Middletown Township; a daughter, Joyce P. Maloney, Lanoka Harbor, Lacey Township; four grandchildren; and agreat-grandson. Riggs Funeral Home, Forked River, is in charge of arrangements.
WILLIAM J. WALKER, 89, of Boonton

WILLIAM J. WALKER, 89, of Boonton, formerly of Whiting, MANCHESTER TOWNSHIP, died Monday at New Jersey Fireman's Home. He was a custodian at Fort Lee High School for 20 years, retiring in 1973. He was a member for 50 years of the Fort Lee Volunteer Fire Company 4, where he also served as chief, and was a member of the Fort Lee Ex-chief's Association. He was a former communicant of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Roman Catholic Church, Whiting. He was a Navy veteran. Mr. Walker was born in New York City and lived in Fort Lee and in Whiting before moving to Boonton six years ago.
He was predeceased by his wife, Ellen Walker. Surviving are a sister, Katherine Bryer, Allegany, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews. Anderson and Campbell Funeral Home, Whiting, is in charge of arrangements.
