Arthur Diamond Jr. died yesterday at University Hospital in Newark. He was 70.
He was a lifelong Elizabeth resident.
He worked for the New Jersey Employment Agency.
Surviving are his wife, the former Kathrin Cullen; two daughters, Susan of New Brunswick and Katherine Comis of Clark; a son, Arthur III of Elizabeth; a sister, Susanne DeGregorio, and a brother, Patrick.
A memorial service will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Gorny and Gorny Funeral Home, 330 Elizabeth Ave., Elizabeth.
Memorial donations may be made to a charity of choice.
ERNA BERTELO, AGE 61, RAHWAY

Erna Leonhardt Bertelo died yesterday at Rahway Hospital. She was 61.
She was born in Union and moved to Rahway in 1965.
She had been a bookkeeper for Premier Dye Casting, Avenel section of Woodbridge, for eight years.
She is survived by her husband, Michael; two daughters, Jo-Ann Lamberg of Woodbridge and Michelle Affrunti of Marlboro, and two grandchildren.
Serrvices will be 11 a.m. Monday at the Pettit-Davis Funeral Home, 371 W. Milton Ave., Rahway. Cremation will be private.
SANTA ANGELICA DiSTEFANO PAPETTI, AGE 91, ELIZABETH

Santa Angelica DiStefano Papetti died Wednesday at home. She was 91.
She was a lifelong resident of Elizabeth.
She started as a young girl delivering fresh milk for her parents' company, DiStefano & Papetti Dairy in Elizabeth. In 1941, she and her husband founded the Papetti Poultry and Egg Co. in Elizabeth, where customer could purchase both eggs and freshly killed poultry.
She, her sons and grandchildren built the company, now known as Papetti's Hygrade Egg Products, into a national manufacturer and processor of egg products, with plants in Elizabeth, Lenox, Iowa, Kansas City, Mo., and Klingerstown, Pa.
She also had been involved in commercial and residential real estate in the Union County area for many years.
Her husband, Alfred, is deceased, as is a sister, Angelica Mauti.
Surviving are two daughters, Lillian and Barbara, both of Hillside; two sons, Anthony and Arthur, both of Hillside; a sister, Marian Puleo of Elizabeth; five grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be 8:30 a.m. Saturday from the Corsentino Home for Funerals, 620 Second Ave., Elizabeth. A liturgy will be offered at 9:30 a.m., followed by burial at St. Gertrude's Cemetery in the Colonia section of Woodbridge.
MARIA MARY MANCINI, AGE 83, formerly of LINDEN

Maria Mary Mancini died yesterday at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. She was 83.
She was born in Ragusa, Italy, and came to the United States in 1924. She lived in Elizabeth and Linden before moving to Matawan 45 years ago.
She was a communicant of the Church of St. Clement in Matawan, where she was a member of the Altar Rosary Society and was a bingo volunteer in charge of the kitchen for 25 years.
Her husband, George, died in 1996.
Surviving are two sons, Edward C. Parin of Hillside and Floyd S. Parin of Monroe, Conn.; a brother, John Fieramosca of Colts Neck; two sisters, Emanuela Durso of Ragusa, Italy, and Salvatrice Scrofani of Elizabeth; seven grandchildren, and 11 great grandchildren.
Services will be 8 a.m. Saturday from the Waitt Funeral Home, 501 Route 79, Morganville section of Marlboro. Mass will follow at 9 a.m. at the Church of St. Clement. Burial will be at Rosedale Cemetery, Linden.
LUDWIK JAROSZ, AGE 90, LINDEN

Ludwik Jarosz died yesterday at the Rahway Hospital. He was 90.
He was born in Malowodach, Poland, came to the United States in 1950, and lived in Elizabeth before moving to Linden in 1955.
He retired 23 years ago as a machine operator for Phelps Dodge Co., Elizabeth.
He was a communicant of St. Theresa's R.C. Church, Linden.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, the former Rozalia Czarna; a daughter, Helen Razin of Linden; two grandchildren, Thomas and Richard, and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday from the Kowalski Funeral Home, 516 Roselle St., Linden, followed by a 10 a.m. Mass at St. Theresa's R.C. Church. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery, Linden.
Catherine Jeffrey Mowen
Catherine Jeffrey Mowen, 94, of Westfield died on Saturday, March 7, at Union Hospital in Union. A native of Torrington, Connecticut, she graduated from Mount Holyoke College in South Hadley, Massachusetts, and had studied at Rutgers University in New Brunswick. She had been a teacher of French and Latin at high schools in Connecticut and New Jersey and was later employed as a home instructor by the Westfield Board of Education and as a foreign language tutor. Mrs. Mowen was an active member of the First Congregational Church of Westfield. Surviving are her husband, Clarence ?Chick? H. Mowen; two daughters, Eleanor Kovach of Wilmington, Delaware and Carol Jordan of Willington, Connecticut; four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, March 22, at 7:30 p.m. at the First Congregational Church located at 125 Elmer Street in Westfield. Funeral arrangements were handled by the Gray Funeral Home, 318 East Broad Street, in Westfield. Memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund of the First Congregational Church of Westfield.

Paul R. Jones, Sr., 83
Paul R. Jones, Sr., 83, of Westfield died on Saturday, March 14, at Overlook Hospital in Summit. Born and raised in Columbus, Ohio, Mr. Jones had lived in Syracuse, New York and Mount Lebanon, Pennsylvania before moving to Westfield in 1960. He had been Vice President and Actuary for Gates McDonald in New York City for 42 years prior to retiring in 1985. He had received an Associate?s Degree in Business from Ohio State University in Columbus. Mr. Jones was on the Legislative Committee of the American Association of Retired Persons of New Jersey and assisted senior citizens in filing their taxes. He was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Helen Jones. Surviving are his daughter, Carol Jones; two sons, Paul Jones, Jr. and Jeffrey Jones; a sister, Katherine Outcalt, and three grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, March 17, at the Dooley Colonial Home, 556 Westfield Avenue, Westfield. Interment took place at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Helen?s Roman Catholic Church in Westfield.
