Frank LaCorte, 77, of Westfield died on Tuesday, December 26, 2000 at Union Hospital in Union. Born in Jersey City, he lived in Westfield for 34 years. Mr. LaCorte had been employed for many years as a pattern maker for Monroe Patterns in Roselle Park before retiring in 1988. He was a member of the American Pattern Makers Association. He served in the United States Army during World War II. Surviving are his wife, Anna V. Aika LaCorte; two daughters, Pat Rivero of Three Bridges and Nancy LaCorte of Westfield; two brothers, Pete LaCorte of Roselle and Rosario LaCorte of Berkeley Heights; a sister, Ann Benz of Bridgeton, and two grandchildren. A Funeral Mass was held on Friday, December 29, in St. Helen's Roman Catholic Church in Westfield. Interment took place at St. Gertrude's Cemetery in Colonia. Arrangements were handled by the Dooley Colonial Home, 556 Westfield Avenue in Westfield.

Lorraine E. Kowalewski Kwasek, 75, died on Wednesday, December 27, 2000 at St. Michael's Hospital in Newark. Born in Newark, she moved to Westfield in 1952. Mrs. Kwasek had been a bookkeeper for the Westfield High School cafeteria for the last 30 years. She was a communicant of St. Helen's Roman Catholic Church in Westfield. She was predeceased by her husband, John Kwasek, in 1986, and by a sister, Helen Wolfe, in 1999. Surviving are a son, Philip Kwasek of Westfield; a daughter, Lorrie Bielen of Ringoes; her mother, Mary Cowalewski of Homestead, Fla.; a sister, Dorothy Wall of Bayville, and a brother, Stanley Kowalewski of Keanesburg. A Mass of Christian Burial was offered on Saturday, December 30, at St. Helen's Church. Interment took place at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield. Arrangements were under the direction of the Dooley Colonial Home, 556 Westfield Avenue in Westfield.

Sylvia R. Annunziato Petitti, 73, of Mountainside died on Wednesday, December 27, 2000 at Overlook Hospital in Summit. Born in Belleville, she had lived in Newark before relocating to Mountainside in 1954. Mrs. Petitti was a founding parishioner of Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Mountainside, where she was a member of the Rosary Altar Society. She was a member of the Colonia Country Club and the Mountainside Neighborhood Painting Club. Surviving are her husband, John V. Petitti; three daughters, Marilyn Stevenson of Roswell, Ga., Carol McDonald of Morrisville, Pa. and Barbara Petitti of Portland, Me.; two sons, Richard Petitti of Roswell, Ga. and Michael Petitti of Key Largo, Fla.; a brother, Leo Annunziato of Leonardo, and 10 grandchildren. A Mass was offered on Saturday, December 30, in Our Lady of Lourdes Church. Interment was private. Arrangements were under the direction of the Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home in Westfield. Patrick Carroll, 83
Patrick Carroll, 83, of Westfield died on Sunday, December 31, 2000 at Overlook Hospital in Summit. Born and raised in Ballinlough, County Meath, Ireland, he came to the United States in 1950 and settled in Newark. He had lived in Westfield since 1967. Mr. Carroll had been a union carpenter with Local No. 1342 of Essex County, retiring in 1982 after 31 years. He was an usher with the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Westfield. He was predeceased by his wife, Mary O'Toole Carroll. Surviving are two daughters, Patricia Sohler of Martinsville and Valerie Carroll of Utah; a son, John Carroll of Westfield, and two grandchildren. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 9:30 a.m. today, Thursday, January 4, at St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church in Garwood. Interment will be at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield. Visitation will take place at 8:30 a.m. today at the Dooley Funeral Home, 218 North Avenue in Cranford.

Mary H. Moriarty, 79, of Westfield died on Saturday, December 30, 2000 at the home of her daughter, Joanne Romer, also of Westfield. Born in Manhattan, she had lived in Springfield for 25 years before relocating to Westfield seven years ago. She was predeceased by her husband, John J. Moriarty, in 1993; two sons, Neil Moriarty, in 1968, and Joel Moriarty, in 1974, and a daughter, Marianne Moriarty, in 1992. Besides her daughter, she survived by four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered at 10 a.m. today, Thursday, January 4, at St. Helen's Roman Catholic Church in Westfield, followed by interment at St. Teresa's Cemetery in Summit. Arrangements are being handled by the Gray Funeral Home, 318 East Broad Street in Westfield.

Irwin Gleich, 76, CPA and Member Of Westfield Community Players
Irwin S. Gleich, 76, of Hilton Head Island, S.C. died on Saturday, December 30, 2000 at St. Joseph Hospital in Savannah, Ga. Born on June 27, 1924 in New York City, he was the son of the late Sam and Tessie Connor Gleich. He had lived in Westfield before moving to Hilton Head Island in 1989. Mr. Gleich was a partner for 38 years as a Certified Public Accountant with N. Tannenbaum and Company. He graduated as an honor student from City College of New York, now Baruch College. He served in the United States Army Signal Corp during World War II. Mr. Gleich was an active member of the Westfield Community Players of Westfield. He was also a member of the Townsend Harris Alumni Association and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants. Surviving are his wife, Gladys Wechsler Gleich, and two daughters, Debra Gleich of Burbank, Calif. and Cynthia Meryl Gleich Agress of Westfield. A memorial service was held yesterday, January 3, at the Island Funeral Home in Hilton Head Island. Nathan Stern, 84, of Mountainside died on Friday, December 29, 2000 in Overlook Hospital in Summit. Born in Czechoslovakia, he had lived in Irvington before moving to Mountainside. Mr. Stern had owned Tabachnick's Kosher Deli in Springfield for 33 years before retiring four years ago. Surviving are his wife, Clara Stern; two sisters, Leah Stern and Hannah Stern, and four brothers, Sam Stern, Aaron Stern, Morris Stern and Martin Stern. Graveside services were held in the Beth Israel Cemetery in Woodbridge. Arrangements were under the direction of the Higgins and Bonner Echo Lake Funeral Home in Westfield.
