Bruce N. Crichton, 64
Bruce Nelson Crichton, 64, of Middletown died on Monday, December 25, at Riverview Medical Center in Red Bank. Born in Rahway, he had lived in Westfield and in Rumson before moving to Middletown 10 years ago. Mr. Crichton's professional life included running a family coal business, owning his own brokerage firm, investing in local and foreign businesses and building golf courses. He was active for 33 years in the founding and growth of the Navesink Country Club in Middletown, where he was a President and golf club champion over the years. He played on the men's hockey team there as recently as this winter, and also helped initiate the club's youth skating program. His golf tournaments took him to Bermuda, Mexico and Scotland, as well as all over the United States. Mr. Crichton was discharged from the United States Army Reserves. Surviving are a daughter, Lissa Crichton of Rye, N.H.; two sons, Douglas Crichton of Vienna, Austria and Garrett Crichton of Washington, D.C., and a grandson. A memorial gathering took place on Friday, December 29, at the Navesink Country Club. Memorial donations may be made to the N.J.S.G.A. Henry Kramkowski, 81
Henry E. Kramkowski, 81, of Cranford died on Saturday, December 30, at home. Born in Jersey City, he had lived in Union before moving to Cranford 44 years ago. Mr. Kramkowski had worked as a Frame Man for New Jersey Bell in Jersey City for 35 years before retiring in 1984. He was a communicant of St. Michael's Roman Catholic Church in Cranford and a member of the Cranford Senior Citizens Wednesday Club. He was predeceased by his wife, Emma C. Gallini Kramkowski, in 1986. Surviving are two sons, Raymond Kramkowski of Westfield and Richard Kramkowski of Garwood; a daughter, Rosemary Kargus of Garwood; two sisters, Stella Andrews and Nellie Warren, both of Toms River, and six grandchildren. A Funeral Liturgy will be offered at 10:30 a.m. today, Thursday, January 4, at St. Michael's Church. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield. Arrangements are under the direction of the Gray Memorial Funeral Home, 12 Springfield Avenue in Cranford.

Mary Dallas, 83
Mary Dallas, 83, of Rahway died on Sunday, January 28, in Rahway Hospital. Born in West Point, Va., she had lived in Westfield before relocating to Rahway 50 years ago. Mrs. Dallas was a member of the Usher Board of the Bethel Baptist Church in Westfield. Surviving are a son, John Wesley Dallas; a daughter, Gloria Robinson; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild. Funeral services were held on Thursday, February 1, in the Bethel Baptist Church. Interment took place at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield. Arrangements were under the direction of the Jones Funeral Home in Rahway.

Ruth Best Isler of Westfield died on Wednesday, January 31, in Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield. Born in Newark, she had lived in Union, Elizabeth and Clark before relocating to Westfield five years ago. Mrs. Isler had been an assembler with the Western Electric Company in Newark for 25 years before retiring 18 years ago. She was predeceased by two husbands, Jack Rockaway and Jerome Isler, and by a brother, Nathan Best. Surviving is another brother, Bernard Best. Graveside services were held on Friday, February 2, in the King Solomon Cemetery in Clifton. Arrangements were under the direction of the Menorah Chapels at Millburn in Union.

Nancy Delmauro George of Westfield died on Wednesday, January 31, in the Ashbrook Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Scotch Plains. Born in Newark, she had lived in Elizabeth and Fanwood before relocating to Westfield in 1997. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph George. Mrs. George had worked for the Westinghouse Electric Corporation in Newark before retiring many years ago. Surviving are many nieces and nephews. The funeral service was held on Monday, February 5, from the Rossi Funeral Home in Scotch Plains, followed by a Mass at St. Bartholomew the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Scotch Plains. Interment took place in Fairview Cemetery in Westfield.

Eleanor Engelfried, 94
Eleanor Meyer Engelfried, 94, died on Friday, February 2, at the Westfield Center, Genesis ElderCare Network in Westfield. Born in Oak Park, Ill., she had lived in Westfield from 1937 to 1973, when she relocated to Lakehurst. She had resided in the Lakewood area before moving back to the Westfield area last year. Mrs. Engelfried was a homemaker. She was a former member of Atlas Chapter No. 99 Order of the Eastern Star. In addition, she had been a member of the Lincoln School Chorus in Westfield and of the Women's Club of Westfield. She was predeceased by her husband, Henry Oscar Engelfried, in 1998, and by a grandson, Jeffrey Nickerson, in 1996. Surviving are two daughters, Carol Smith of Grants Pass, Ore. and Nancy Plum Tuthill of Mountainside; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. this Saturday, February 10, at the Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Avenue in Fanwood. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Diamond- Blackfan Anemia Foundation, P.O. Box 1092, West Seneca, N.Y., 14224, to benefit one of Mrs. Engelfried's great-grandchildren.

Ann Theresa Damiecki Berodyn, 83, of Haddonfield died on Thursday, January 18, at Cooper Hospital in Camden. Born on September 30, 1917 and raised in Wilmington, Del., she had lived in Westfield for more than 25 years. She later lived in Toms River for 10 years and in Point Lookout, N.Y. before relocating to Haddonfield in 1992. Mrs. Berodyn was a member of the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Westfield and was a member of the Republican Club in Toms River. While living in Point Lookout, she had been the chef for the Rectory of the Miraculous Medal parish. She was also a member of Christ the King Roman Catholic Church in Haddonfield. She was predeceased by her husband, Anthony J. Berodyn, in 1972.Surviving are two daughters, Mary Ellen Desmond of Philadelphia and Veronica Dorry of Baltimore; a son, Arthur Berodyn of Ocean Township, and a sister, Stella Wallace of Farmington, N.Y. A Funeral Mass was offered on Wednesday, January 24, at the Holy Trinity Roman Catholic Church in Westfield. Interment took place at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield. Arrangements were under the direction of the Kain Funeral Home in Haddonfield. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 410 White Horse Pike, P.O.
