Harold S. Pike, Jr., 66, Air Force Veteran; Was Employed in Marketing and Sales Rodger T. Twitchell, 85, Was Mason; Worked in Machine-Tool Design Field Rodger Tierney "Ted" Twitchell, 85, of Flanders died on Saturday, April 28, at home. Born in Ontario, Canada, he had lived in Westfield for many years before moving to the Flanders section of Mount Olive in 1971. Mr. Twitchell had been employed in the machine and tool design industry for many years before retiring several years ago. A 1935 graduate of Metuchen High School, he studied mechanical engineering at Rutgers University. He was a life member of the society of Free Masons. He was predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Ida Louise Twitchell; his mother, Regina Ann Twitchell; his father, Claude A. Twitchell, and a brother, Cyrus Twitchell. Surviving are two sons, Rodger Twitchell of Kennebunkport, Me. and David Twitchell of Long Valley; three sisters, Claudia Snoden of Diamond Head, Miss., Celia Horner of Mine Hill and Elizabeth Hilton of Bound Brook, and four grandchildren. A private family memorial service was held on Sunday, April 29, at Mr. Twitchell's home. Arrangements were under the direction of the Dooley Colonial Home, 556 Westfield Avenue in Westfield. Harold Stanley Pike, Jr., 66, of Cape May Court House died on Monday, May 7, at home. Born and raised in Fanwood, he had lived in Clark and Bensalem, Pa., prior to moving to Cape May Court House. Mr. Pike was employed in marketing and sales and most recently served as district sales manager for Westwood Computer Corporation. He earned a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering and a Master of Business Administration Degree from Purdue University in Lafayette, Ind. He served in the United States Air Force. Surviving are his mother, Hilda Pike, also of Cape May Court House, and a brother, Kenneth R. Pike of Medford. A memorial service was held on Friday, May 11, at the Dias Creek United Methodist Church in Cape May Court House. The family has requested that no flowers be sent. Memorial donations may be made to the Memorial Fund of Dias Creek Methodist Church, 77 Springers Mill Road, Cape May Court House, 08210. The Radzieta Funeral Home of Cape May Court House was in charge of the arrangements.

Samuel Cirincione, 82, Honored Knight; Active in Church and Veterans Groups
Samuel Frank Cirincione, 82, of Garwood died on Friday, May 4, at home. Born in Gratteri, Sicily, he emigrated to the United States in 1929. He had lived in Westfield before relocating to Garwood in 1949. Mr. Cirincione had been employed by Hyatt Roller Bearing, a division of General Motors in Clark, before retiring. He was a United States Army veteran of World War II, serving in Italy and North Africa, and was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Bayleaf Post No. 6807 and American Legion Post No. 317, both of Garwood. He was a Nocturnal Hour member of St. John the Apostle Roman Catholic Church in Clark and a member of the Holy Name Society of St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church in Garwood. In 1998, he earned a Lifetime Service Award as a Fourth Degree Knight of Columbus of the John Dawson Gilmary Shea Assembly. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Color Corp. Surviving are his wife, Fannie Cirincione; a daughter, Annette Cirincione, and a brother, Russell Cirincione. A Mass of Christian Burial was held on Tuesday, May 8, at St. Anne's Roman Catholic Church in Garwood. Interment took place at St. Gertrude's Cemetery in Colonia. Arrangements were under the direction of the Dooley Colonial Home, 556 Westfield Avenue in Westfield.

Mary Hart, 82, Sears Sales Associate; Active in Golden Age and Auxiliary
Mary Klizas Hart, 82, of Scotch Plains died on Thursday, May 10, at home. Born in St. Clair, Pa., she had lived in Kearny before moving to Scotch Plains more than 40 years ago. Mrs. Hart had worked at Prudential Insurance in Newark before becoming a sales associate at Sears in Watchung. She retired from Sears in 1981. She was a member and Past President of the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary, Post No. 10122 in Scotch Plains, and a member of the Golden Age and St. Bartholomew the Apostle Roman Catholic Church, both of Scotch Plains. She was predeceased by her husband, William Hart, on May 10, 2000. Surviving are two daughters, Linda A. Horvath of Rahway and Jayne H. Danco of Bridgewater; a brother, John Klizas of Stratford, Conn.; a sister, Anna Wargo of St. Clair, and four grandchildren. The funeral took place on Monday, May 14, from the Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Avenue in Fanwood, followed by a Mass at St. Bartholomew the Apostle Church. Interment took place at Hillside Cemetery in Scotch Plains. Viola Byrd Sims, 87, of Engelwood Cliffs died on Thursday, May 10, at the Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly. Born in Virginia, she was raised in Westfield and was educated through the Westfield school system. She had also lived in New York City and Fort Lee before moving to Engelwood Cliffs 52 years ago. She was a member of the National Doll and Toy Collectors Club and of the Photo Club, both in New York City. Surviving are a granddaughter, Lisa A. Curtis; a grandson, Darryl Curtis, and two great-grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 15, at the Gray Funeral Home, 318 East Broad Street in Westfield. Interment took place at Fairview Cemetery in Westfield. Memorial donations may be made to a favorite charity.

Thelma H. Welaish, 80
Thelma H. Welaish, 80, of Fanwood died on Saturday, May 12, at Muhlenberg Regional Medical Center in Plainfield. Born in Somerville, Mass., she had lived in Roxbury, Mass., and then in Weymouth, Mass., before relocating to Fanwood in 1968. Mrs. Welaish had been employed as a legal secretary for AFD Title in Scotch Plains, Charles Thatcher, Esq., formerly of Scotch Plains, and then for Leib, Kraus, Grispin & Roth in Scotch Plains, before retiring in 1995. She was a graduate of the Hitchcock Secretarial School in Boston. Surviving are her husband of 50 years, Stanley Welaish; a son, Jeffrey L. Welaish of Pennsylvania; two daughters, Natalie Y. Broderick of Massachusetts and Deborah Welaish Sutphen of Frenchtown; two sisters, Shirley Boise of California and Beverly A. Johnson of Massachusetts, and seven grandchildren. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, May 15, at the Memorial Funeral Home, 155 South Avenue in Fanwood. Giovanni G. Cuoco, 70
Giovanni Gerardo Cuoco, 70, of Wildwood Crest died on Thursday, May 10, in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick. Born in Avellino, Italy, he had lived in Venezuela, Colonia and Scotch Plains before moving to Wildwood Crest in 1989. Mr. Cuoco was self-employed before retiring in 1989. Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Lina Cuoco; two sons, Alfonso Cuoco and Rocco Cuoco; two daughters, Antonietta (Annette) Cuoco and Luigina Sollazzo; two brothers, Gerardo Cuoco and Antonio Cuoco; four sisters, Guiseppina DeCicco, Licia Bove, Ripalda Cuoco and Liliana Cuoco, and two grandchildren. A Mass was offered on Monday, May 14, at St. Ann's Church in Raritan, following the funeral from the Bongiovi Funeral Home in Raritan.
