Martha A. Hoffman
Owned Belle Mead dairy farm
MONROE — Martha A. Hoffman died May 13 at Monroe Village Health Care Center. She was 94.
Born in Altensteig, Germany, she came to the United States at age 16. She and her late husband owned and operated a radio and electrical appliance store in Manhattan for many years before moving to Belle Mead, where they owned and operated Wilmar Dairy Farm for 38 years.
She moved from Belle Mead to Rossmoor, where she lived for 10 years before moving to Monroe Village 12 years ago.
She was a member of Griggstown Missionary Society and Griggstown Reformed Church.
Wife of the late Joseph W. Hoffman, she is survived by daughters, Wilma L. DeHart and Martha Merritt, both of Belle Mead; sister Emma Hennefard of Altensteig, Germany; grandchildren Bonnie Kasco, Dale Ann McGarry, Lynn Mangan, Karen Cummins, Douglas K. Merritt and Pamela McGinley; and 12 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m., Tuesday, May 30 at the chapel at Monroe Village Health Care Center, 1 David Brainerd Dr., Jamesburg.
Arrangements are by The Mather Hodge Funeral Home.
Helen M. Langhans
Sang professionally
SOUTH BRUNSWICK — Helen M. Langhans of the Kendall Park section of South Brunswick, died Thursday at The Medical Center at Princeton. She was 80.
Born in Seattle, she was a resident of Kendall Park for the last 43 years.
She was a graduate of the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester with a degree in voice.
She sang professionally in New York City.
She was active in All Saints Church, Princeton, and its choir. She was a member of the Society of Companies of the Holy Cross and Associate of the Convent of St. John in Mendham.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Eugene C. Langhans; and daughters Susan M. Langhans of Franklin Park and Nancy A. Langhans of South Dartmouth, Mass.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at All Saints Church, 16 All Saints Road, Princeton.
Memorial contributions may be made to All Saints Church or the Society of Companions of the Holy Cross, 46 Elm St., Byfield, Mass. 01922.

Mary Dever Kirby
Mathematics professor
Mary Dever Kirby of Princeton Township, died Friday at the Hamilton Continuing Care Center. She was 88.
Born in New York, she was a resident of Brick for over 20 years before moving to Princeton.
She was a professor of mathematics at Manhattanville College, Purchase, N.Y., for over 40 years, serving as chairman of the mathematics department and as a dean.
She received her bachelor of arts degree at Hunter College in 1934 and her master’s degree from Columbia University in 1941.
She was a member of Pi Kappa Gamma.
Daughter of the late Andrew Joseph and Mary Ann Dever, wife of the late Andrew Richard Kirby, she is survived by daughter and son-in-law Mary-Elizabeth Proshan and Neil Proshan, M.D., of Princeton Township.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. today at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 214 Nassau St., Princeton.
Burial will be in Princeton Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to St. Paul Roman Catholic Church.
Arrangements are by The Kimble Funeral Home, Princeton.
Mamie Patterson
Longtime area resident
Mamie Patterson died Friday at the Merwick Unit of The Medical Center at Princeton. She was 72.
Born in Gainesville, Fla., she was a longtime Princeton area resident.
She attended Gainesville schools.
Daughter of the late Lula Stephens, she is survived by brother, Louis Perry of Eatontown; and cousins Turner Stephens and Tracy Livingston, both of Trenton, and Doris Williams of Vero Beach, Fla.

Grayce M. Hall
Worked at Gallup Farm
MONTGOMERY — Grayce M. Hall of the Skillman section of Montgomery, died Wednesday at Park Place Center, Monmouth Junction. She was 94.
Born in Hopewell Township, she was a lifelong area resident.
She was manager of the Gallup Farm in Montgomery for 40 years.
She was a member of Rocky Hill and Montgomery senior citizens clubs and Blawenburg Reformed Church.
She enjoyed flower gardening.
Daughter of late David and Eva Blackwood Moore, wife of the late Bernard Hall and sister of the late Edna Anderson and Spencer, Robert and Johnson Moore, she is survived by son Edward of Skillman; sister Bonnie Voorhees of Pennsylvania; grandson Kevin Hall; granddaughter Andrea Bergen; and six great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are by Cromwell Memorial Home, Hopewell.
Thomas A. McGuiness
Worked in recording industry
WEST WINDSOR — Thomas A. McGuiness of the Princeton Junction section of West Windsor, died Sunday at the Medical Center at Princeton. He was 68.
Born in New York, he was a resident of Princeton Junction most of his life.
Mr. McGuiness retired in 1997 as a senior vice president with Sony Music. He worked for the company and its predecessor, CBS Records, for 43 years.
He was a 1956 graduate of New York University.
He was an Army 2nd lieutenant during the Korean War.
Mr. McGuiness was a fourth degree Knight of Columbus.
Son of the late John J. and Cecilia McGuiness, he is survived by his wife of 35 years, Marliss McGuiness of Princeton Junction; sons Patrick of Baltimore and Daniel of Lawrence Township; daughter and son-in-law Christine and Raymond Barnart III of Yardley, Pa.; brothers and sister-in-law John of New Hyde Park, N.Y. and Donald and Joyce of Mt. Sunapee, N.H.; nephew Erin McGuiness Kastelic of Cleveland; and father-in-law Carl Ruppert of Princeton Junction.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, 214 Nassau St., Princeton.
Burial will be in St. Paul Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 10:30 to 11 a.m. at the church, Thursday.

Walter N. Skoriak
Owned typewriter company
ROCKY HILL — Walter N. Skoriak died Sunday at the Medical Center at Princeton. He was 84.
Born in Kiev, Russia, he came to New York in 1924 and moved to Rocky Hill in 1968.
He owned Action Typewriter Co. in Long Island City, N.Y. for 30 years, retiring in 1977. Immediately following retirement, he was a partner for 10 years with Action Business Supplies of Rocky Hill.
Mr. Skoriak was a foreign service specialist with the Army during World War II.
Father of the late Michael Skoriak, he is survived by his wife Rosina Skoriak, sons and daughters-in-law Walter J. and Nancy Skoriak of West Trenton and Neil S. and Cynthia Skoriak of Durham, Pa.; brother Eugene of Sausalito, Calif.; and grandchild Alexia Rose.
Services will be noon Wednesday at The Mather-Hodge Funeral Home, 40 Vandeventer Ave., Princeton.
Burial will be at the Rocky Hill Cemetery.
Visitation is one hour before the service.
Wilhelm Klein
DELAWARE — Wilhelm “Bill” Klein, 88, died Tuesday, May 16, at Doylestown (Pa.) Hospital.
Born in West Orange, he was a longtime Delaware Township area resident.
He was a carpenter and construction contractor who worked on the Pennytown Shopping Center, Hopewell. He then became caretaker and superintendent of the complex. He worked for O.E. Lewis, Woodsville, and owned and operated Klein’s Turkey Farm and Strimple’s Mill Sawmill. He also worked for the Delaware Township Road Department.
He was a member of the Stockton Rod and Gun Club. He founded the Pennytown Petting Zoo and enjoyed hunting.
Son of the late Otto and Fredericka Pfeifer Klein, widower of Lillian Dalrymple Klein and brother of eight late siblings, he is survived by two daughters, Irene L. Janiszewski of Stockton and Alice M. Ubel of Kingwood; a son, William O. of Stockton; 13 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
The funeral was held Saturday at Van Horn-McDonough Funeral Home, Lambertville, with the Rev. David Errickson of the Old Rocks Church of West Amwell officiating. Burial was in Rosemont Cemetery.

Fred Bair Jr.
NEW HOPE — Fred C. Bair Jr. of New Hope, died Wednesday, May 17, at Doylestown (Pa.) Hospital. He was 57.
Born in Doylestown, Mr. Bair lived in the Lambertville and New Hope area most of his life.
He operated Fred C. Bair and Son Painting Contractors for the past 14 years.
Mr. Bair was an Army veteran.
He was a son of the late Fred C. and Sanitella Ollio Bair Sr. and brother of the late Barbara E. Bair. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Masterson of Lambertville; two sons, Fred C. Bair III of Lambertville and Brian J. Bair of New Hope; one sister, Cathy Hagen of New Hope; two grandsons, Fred C. Bair IV and Brandon Bair, both of New Hope; and nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Monday at the Garefino Funeral Home, Lambertville. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. John the Evangelist Roman Catholic Church in Lambertville. Burial followed in the parish cemetery.
Ethel Lake
EAST AMWELL — Ethel E. Lake, 87, died Saturday, May 20, at Hunterdon Medical Center.
Born in Laurel, Del., she lived in the Allentown area many years before moving to Ringoes 10 years ago.
Widow of Stanley L. Lake Sr., she is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Stanley J. and Fran Lake of Jay, Fla., Richard and Joan Lake of Ringoes and Joseph and Donna Lake of Mount Holly; a daughter and son-in-law, Pat and Andy Hunsperger of Sunnyvale, Calif.; 11 grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
Graveside services were held Wednesday at Princeton Memorial Park, Washington Township.
Arrangements were under the direction of Peppler Funeral Home, Allentown.
