Edward James King
RARITAN TOWNSHIP, NJ - Edward James King, age 79 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Thursday, May 4, 2006, in the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in New York City, New York, he was the son of the late Fletcher M. and Agnes King. He had formerly resided in Middlesex, NJ.
He was a retired Deputy Chief of Police with the Middlesex Police Department, retiring in 1989.
Mr. King was a United States Navy veteran of World War II, serving as a Fireman First Class on the USS Sentry and the USS Barbican ACM5 ( Minesweepers). He was a member of the Naval Mine Warfare Association, the American Legion Post, Middlesex, NJ, and the Mount Carmel Society, Bound Brook, NJ.
Surviving are his wife of fifty-seven years, Aldina Eleanor Ferdinando King; a daughter, Denise Aldina Mattie, of Raritan Township, NJ; a brother, Rodney King, of Hillsborough, NJ; two brothers-in-law, Clement Ferdinando of Edison, NJ, and Americo Ferdinando of Bridgewater, NJ; and three grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial
will be celebrated on Monday at 10 AM in St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment
will be in St. Magdalen Cemetery, Flemington, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Sunday from 2-5 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.

Harry E. Stryker
FLEMINGTON BORO, NJ - Harry E. Stryker, age 97 years of Flemington, NJ died Monday, March 15, 2004 at the Hunterdon Care Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Oldwick, NJ, June 28, 1906, son of the late John C. and Margaret Ramsey Stryker, he had resided in Flemington, NJ since 1947, having formerly resided in Lebanon, NJ.
He was proprietor of Stryker's Paint Store, Flemington, NJ, retiring 25 years ago. He was a member of the Three Bridges Reformed Church; Darcy Lodge #37 F & AM of Flemington; Lebanon Fire Co. Exempt Association; a charter member of Flemington Elks Lodge #1928; member of Forest #4, Tall Cedars, Lebanon, NJ, and was a former member of the Flemington Kiwanis Club.
His first wife, Leah Bonser Stryker died in 1961, and a daughter, Lois Jane Stryker, died in 1982. Surviving are his wife, Marie Mattison Stryker; a son, John Stryker of Raritan Township, NJ; a step-son, Franklin Mattison of New Brighton, PA; two step-daughters, Betty March of Danbury, CT, and Muriel Stillwell of Cokesbury, NJ; eleven grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. in Union Cemetery, Lebanon, NJ. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ 08822.

Jeanne Krueger
CRANBURY, NJ - Jeanne Krueger, age 72 years, formerly of Lebanon Township, NJ, died Wednesday, March 17, 2004 at The Elms at Cranbury Care Center.
Born February 22, 1932, daughter of the late Albert and Ethel S. Henning Krueger, she had formerly resided for several years in Lebanon Township, NJ before moving to Cranbury in February, 2004. Surviving is a cousin.
Graveside services will be held Monday at 10 a.m. in Locust Hill Cemetery, Dover, NJ under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
Grace L. Grombir
EAST AMWELL TOWNSHIP, NJ - Grace L. Grombir, age 76 years of East Amwell Township, NJ died Wednesday, March 17, 2004 at the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born October 24, 1927 in Honolulu, Hawaii, she was the daughter of the late Jesu and Mary Cabral Souza Arias. She had resided in East Amwell Township for the past 49 years.
She was retired from Baum and Pierce Ceramic Studios, Kingwood, NJ.
Her husband, Joseph Grombir died in 1968. A son, Joseph Grombir, Jr. died in 1988. She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Michael W. and Mary Lou Grombir of Kingwood Township, NJ; a granddaughter, Megan Grombir of Kingwood Township, NJ; a sister, Rita Stair of Brielle, NJ, and several brothers and sisters in Hawaii.

Lynn R. Bowers
WEST AMWELL TOWSHIP, NJ - Lynn Rhoda Bowers, age 55 years, of West Amwell Township, NJ, died Thursday, March 18, 2004 at her residence.
Born March 27, 1948 in Park Crest, PA to the late Joseph and Edith Schrope Petusky, she lived in West Amwell Township since 1997, previously residing in Whitehouse Station, NJ.
Ms. Bowers was a mother, a homemaker and a craftswoman. She was a lover of nature, a friend to all animals, and a person who believed in local community and friendship above all else.
She is survived by a daughter, Tara A. Bowers of Hardwick, NJ; a son, Justin A. Bowers of Flemington, NJ; four brothers, Ronald J. Pierce of Philadelphia, PA, Neil J. Petusky of Blue Bell, PA, Rell G. Petusky of Niles, OH and Kerry S. Petusky of Fletcher, NC; a sister, Chloe P. Coger of Brevard, NC; and her former husband, Gary Bowers of Woodbury, CT. Another brother, Miles N. Petusky, died in 2002.

Wilson Carey McWilliams, Ph.D.
FLEMINGTON, NJ - Wilson Carey McWilliams, Ph.D., age 71 years, of Flemington, NJ, died on Tuesday, March 29, 2005 at his residence.
Born in Santa Monica, CA, September 2, 1933, son of the late Carey and Dorothy Hedrick McWilliams, he had formerly resided in Berkeley, CA, Oberlin, OH, Brooklyn, NY and Highland Park, NJ before moving to Flemington in 1979.
A 1st Lieutenant in the 11th Airborne Division of the United States Army from 1955-57, Professor McWilliams earned a Ph.D. in Political Science from the University of California at Berkeley.
He was currently a Professor of Political Science at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ where he had been teaching since 1970. His past academic appointments include Oberlin College 1961-67, Brooklyn College 1967-70, and visiting and summer appointments at Yale University, Harvard University, Haverford College, Lafayette College and Fordham University.
Author of many books and articles in the field of Political Science, Professor McWilliams won the National Historical Society Prize in 1974 for his first book, 'The Idea of Fraternity in America'.
In addition to his numerous honors and awards for his service in the field of Political Science, Professor McWilliams was active in many civic and community activities as well, including serving as a Councilman in the Borough of Flemington, a member of the Hunterdon County Democratic Committee, a trustee of the Hunterdon County Historical Society and a former Elder of the Flemington Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are his wife of thirty-nine years, Nancy Riley McWilliams, Ph.D.; and two daughters, Susan J. McWilliams of Princeton, NJ and Helen E. McWilliams of Boston, MA.
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday at 3 p.m. in the Flemington Presbyterian Church, 10 East Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment
will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Flemington, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 7-9 p.m. in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ as well as Saturday from 1:30 p.m. till time of service at the church.

Neil A. Macher
FLEMINGTON, NJ - Neil A. Macher, age 60 years, of Flemington, NJ, died Tuesday, March 29, 2005 in the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Easton, PA, February 27, 1945, son of the late Joseph and Bernice Macher, he had formerly resided in Changewater, NJ and had resided in Flemington, NJ thirty years.
When he retired in 2004, he was Captain of the Corrections Department at the Hunterdon County Jail after thirty-three years of service.
A firearms instructor and expert marksman, he received numerous awards for his marksmanship from state, county and local organizations. Serving in the United States Coast Guard 1965-1970, Mr. Macher was an avid deep-sea fisherman and loved computers as well as spending time with his grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife, Deborah Poch Macher; a daughter and son-in-law, Christine and David Chiravalle of Phillipsburg, NJ; a step-son, Robert Bunting of Milford, NJ; a sister and brother-in-law, Sharon and Tom Vinson of Phillipsburg, NJ; a brother and sister-in-law, Joseph and Bonnie Macher of Bethlehem, PA; two grandchildren, Bryan and Kyle Chiravalle of Phillipsburg, NJ; and three step-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held Friday at 11 a.m. in St. Luke's Lutheran Church, Highway 31, Washington, NJ. Interment
will follow in Washington Cemetery, Washington, NJ. Calling hours will be Thursday from 7-9 p.m. in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
