Charles Thomas Myers
Retired from ETS
Charles Thomas Myers of Princeton Township died Friday at home. He was 84.
Born in Shanghai, China, he worked at the Educational Testing Service from 1947 to 1980, when he retired.
A high school graduate of the Shanghai American School in 1932, he graduated in 1936 from the College of Wooster in Ohio.
He served more than four years as an Army sergeant during World War II.
After the war, he received a master’s degree from Teachers College, Columbia University and continued graduate work in psychology at Princeton University.
He worked at the Johnson O’Connor Research Foundation in New York from 1946 to 1947, when he began working at Educational Testing Service in Princeton as a psychologist, mostly specializing in nonverbal reasoning tests.
In the 1960s, he was a member of the adjunct faculty of Rutgers University, teaching test measurement at the New Brunswick and Camden campuses. He retired from ETS in 1980.
He was a member of the American Psychological Association, Sigma Xi, and the National Council of Measurement Education. He was listed in “Who’s Who in the East” and “Men of Science.”
He was active in Palatines to America, the Herkimer County Historical Society in New York and the Alumni Association of Shanghai American School.
Son of the late Rev. Charles M. Myers and Mary Macphail Myers, he is survived by his wife of 52 years, Edyth Kearney Myers; daughters and son-in-law Katherine Myers Donner, Pamala Myers Bagdis and Jay Bagdis; sister Margaret Myers Stonesifer of Ohio; and grandchildren Jeffrey and Kimberly Bagdis.
A short memorial service will be held 2 p.m. today at All Saints Church, All Saints Road, Princeton Township.
Private burial will be at Kensico Cemetery, Valhalla, N.Y.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Princeton First Aid and Rescue Squad or the charity of the donor’s choice.
Arrangements are by The Kimble Funeral Home, Princeton.
John Yurcho
Retired from Nassau Oil
John Yurcho of Princeton died Sunday at the Merwick unit of The Medical Center at Princeton. He was 89.
Born in Trenton, he was a resident of Princeton most of his life.
He was retired from the Nassau Oil-Amoco Corp. as a sales representative after more than 40 years.
He attended Trenton High School and was a member of St. Paul Roman Catholic Church, where he was an usher for 18 years.
Husband of the late Mabel Southard Yurcho, he is survived by son Robert J. of Hopewell and brothers Edward, George, Peter and Henry, all of Trenton.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Roman Catholic Church.
Burial will be at Princeton Cemetery.
Calling hours will be 9 to 10 a.m. Wednesday at The Kimble Funeral Home, 1 Hamilton Ave., Princeton.

Constance LaPlaca Goodwin
Fashion designer
MONROE — Constance LaPlaca Goodwin died Wednesday at Raritan Bay Medical Center. She was 90.
Born in New York, she lived most of her life there. She was a resident of Monroe for three years.
She was a self-employed fashion designer.
Daughter of the late Giuseppe and Mary LaMar LaPlaca, she is survived by brothers Anthony LaPlaca and Leonard LaPlaca, both of Princeton; sister Josephine LaPlaca of New York; 11 nephews; and several nieces.
Funeral services were held Saturday.
Arrangements were by The Kimble Funeral Home.
Henry B. Kelbaugh Sr.
American Standard retiree
AUSTIN, Texas — Henry Blair Kelbaugh Sr. died Saturday as a result of complications from Parkinson’s disease. He was 70.
Born in Baltimore, he was an international businessman who pioneered worldwide joint ventures with American Standard Corp.
He was a devoted Catholic and a world traveler.
Son of the late Willard Sewell Kelbaugh and Dorothy Eileen Blair Kelbaugh, brother of the late Paul Willard Kelbaugh and grandfather of the late Jennifer Blair Malone, he is survived by his wife of 49 years, Virginia O’Donoghue Kelbaugh; sons Henry Jr. and Matthew; daughters Linda Kelbaugh, Tina Kelbaugh, Jennifer Malone, Dolly Kelbaugh, Margaret Kelbaugh and Pandora Wood; and eight grandchildren.
A funeral Mass will be held 10 a.m. today at St. Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 4800 Convict Hill Road, Austin.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation.
Arrangements are by Cook-Walden Forest Oaks Funeral Home, Austin.
Louise Koehler
Louise Bukowy Koehler, 74, died Monday, May 22, at the Wayne County Nursing Home, Lyns, N.Y.
Born in Monroe, she lived most of her life in the Jamesburg and Monroe area before moving to Lyons nine years ago. She had been a supervisor at Johnson and Johnson in New Brunswick for 30 years until her retirement.
A son, Charles L., died in 1982.
She is survived by her daughter, Denise, and son-in-law, Jerry Czarnecki Sr. of Ontario, N.Y.; a sister, Wanda Spitzner of Jamesburg and a grandson, Jerry Czarnecki Jr.
Funeral services were held from the M. David DeMarco Funeral Home, 205 Rhode Hall Road, Monroe. A funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. James R.C., Jamesburg. Interment followed in Holy Trinity Cemetery, Monroe.
Carole Ann Cooper
Carole Ann Durnak Cooper, 47, died May 24 at St. Barnabas Medical Center, Livingston.
She was born in Elizabeth and lived in Linden for many years. She later lived in Edison for 10 years and then in Plainsboro for three years before moving to Kendall Park six months ago.
A state veterans benefits coordinator for the New Jersey Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, Lawrenceville, for 17 years, she was named Employee of the Year in 1998.
She was a communicant of St. Vladimir’s Ukrainian Catholic Church, Elizabeth.
She was a service officer for both the Air Force Association and the Military Order of the Purple Heart. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 12 in Allenhurst, the Disabled American Veterans and the Veterans of Foreign Wars, both in New Jersey, and a member of the New Jersey Association of Veterans Service Officers.
Her father, George Durnak, died in 1993.
She is survived by her husband, Gary Cooper; her mother, Ella Grabinsky Durnak of Linden; a brother, Raymond G. Durnak of North Brunswick and two nephews, Lee and Timothy Durnak.
Funeral services were from the Kowalski Funeral Home, 515 Roselle St., Linden. A mass followed at St. Vladimir’s Ukrainian R.C. Church, Elizabeth. Cremation took place in Rosehille Crematory, Linden. Parastas services were held May 26.

Harold Kizner
Harold Kizner, 71, died Friday, May 26, at St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick.
He was born in the Bronx, N.Y., and lived in Douglastown, N.Y., Queens, N.Y., and North Brunswick for 20 years before moving to The Ponds.
He was vice president of Revlon, New York, and Chanel Inc., Piscataway. He retired in 1995 from Alfin Fragrances, Norwood. He was named in "Who’s Who in Business in Finance."
He received his undergraduate from the City College of New York, and his master’s degree from New York University.
He was a member of the finance committee, the entertainment committee and organized trips at The Ponds.
He was the son of the late Zalman and Anna (Lam) Kizner, and was the husband of Sandra Shiger Kizner for 47 years.
He is survived by his wife, Ivy Spears of North Brunswick; a son, Ira B.; a daughter, Rhonda and son-in-law, Lenny Cohen of Dayton; five grandchildren, Jason, Steven, and Melissa Cohen, and Rebecca and Heather Kizner, and his sister, Edith Nash of Boca Raton, Fla.
Services were held Sunday from Crabiel Parkwest Funeral Chapel, 239 Livingston Ave., New Brunswick. Interment followed at Washington Cemetery, South Brunswick.
Robert N. Thompson
Robert N. Thompson, II, 47, died Friday, May 26. He was born in Columbus, Ohio, to Robert and Lovina Thompson and lived in Cranbury for 16 years. Prior to that, he lived in Bridgewater.
He was employed by Edison Motor of Edison. He also worked for Edison Generator and from 1977 to 1982 he owned the Bradley WM. Penn Station, in Bridgewater. He loved fast cars and working on them. He was a former member of the Somerset County Corvette Club and co-leader of Boy Scout Troop 193 of the Princeton Alliance Church.
He is survived by a son, Robert III; a daughter, Rachel, both of Cranbury; his mother, Lovina; his father, Robert Thompson of Winston-Salem, N.C.; two sisters, Pamela A. Anderson of Centre Hall, Pa., and Debora E. Teresak of Manville; a brother, Thomas D. Thompson of Winston-Salem and Laura Muro, mother of his children.
Visitation was scheduled for 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, May 30, at the M.J. Murphy Funeral Home, 616 Ridge Road at New Road, Monmouth Junction. Prayer service is scheduled for 8:45 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, followed by a Mass at St. Cecilia’s R.C. Church in Monmouth Junction at 9:30 a.m.. Donations can be made to four local cancer societies.
Jean C. Hamilton
BORDENTOWN CITY — Jean C. Hamilton, 81, died June 24 at home.
Born in Riverside, she was a longtime Bordentown area resident.
She retired in 1980 after 30 years as an inspector for General Motors of Ewing. She was also a substitute teacher at Burlington Vocational School, Pemberton.
She was a volunteer at the Bordentown Library.
Daughter of the late Stanley and Catherine Banadek Sniolkowski, she is survived by her husband, John R.; four sisters and three brothers-in-law, Sophie McManus of Columbus, Jennie and Albert Basgil of Levittown, Pa, Helen and Fred Klotz of Hedding and Florence and James Rossell of Mansfield; two nieces, Connie Way and Jane Molnar; two nephews, Dean Way and Michael Molnar; and other relatives.
The funeral was held at Hartmann Funeral Home of Bordentown with the Rev. Michael Burns, pastor of St. Mary’s Church, officiating.

Arlene Hedlund
MANSFIELD —- Arlene Meehan Hedlund, 64, died May 25 at Virtua-Memorial Hospital, Mount Holly.
Born in Trenton, she lived in Florence before moving to Mansfield Township 31 years ago.
Mrs. Hedlund was a homemaker, but worked as a telephone operator during her early years.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Florence and the First Baptist Church of Pemberton. She was active in politics and was currently a Mansfield Township Democratic County Committeewoman.
Daughter of the late Francis and Ellen Holt Meehan and wife of the late David R. Hedlund, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, David and Paula Hedlund of Philadelphia; four daughters and two sons-in-law, Chris Hedlund of Florence, Linda and Doug Brown of Pemberton Township, Joan and David Buddie of Florence and Kay Hedlund of Mansfield Township; a brother, Roger Meehan of San Francisco; and 11 grandchildren, David, Nicole, Danielle, Brittany, Ryan, Kyle, Nadean, Caitlin, Christina, Tiffany and Taylor.
The funeral was held at Dennison Funeral Home, 214 W. Front St., Florence, with the Rev. John Hibbard, officiating.
Burial was in the First Baptist Church Cemetery, Florence.
