MICHAEL P. AULETTA, SR.
MICHAEL P. AULETTA, SR., 44, of Manalapan, died June 7 in Freehold Township. Born in Queens, N.Y., he had resided in Floral Park, Queens, N.Y., before moving to Manalapan 13 years ago. Mr. Auletta was an electrician for Local 3, New York City, for the past 25 years. He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mercy R.C. Church, Englishtown. Surviving are his wife, Barbara Sapanaro Auletta; a son, Michael Jr., and a daughter, Jamie Lee, both at home; his mother, Rose Inzitari Auletta, of Floral Park, N.Y.; and a brother, Joseph, of Manalapan. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at Our Lady of Mercy Church, under the direction of the Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan.
LINDA R. BURLEW
LINDA R. BURLEW, 54, of Lakewood, died June 7 at the Medicenter, Lakewood. Miss Burlew was born in Morristown and had resided in Woodbridge before moving to Lakewood two years ago. She was predeceased by a brother, Marvin Burlew Jr., who died two months ago. Surviving are seven brothers, Robert of Murrells Inlet, S.C.; Arthur, of Elizabeth; Lloyd, of Florida; Donald, of Boynton Beach, Fla.; Gary, of Indianapolis; William, of Freehold; and David, of Lakewood; and a sister, Sandra Forsythe, of South Carolina. Private services were held at Restland Memorial Park, East Hanover, under the direction of the Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold.
CATHERINE GALANTE
CATHERINE GALANTE, 65, of Farmingdale, died June 5 at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. Born in Manhattan, N.Y., she had resided in Staten Island, N.Y., before moving to Farmingdale eight months ago. Mrs. Galante was a secretary at Brita Litho, Manhattan, for the past six years. Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Tina Galante, of Marlboro; two daughters and sons-in-law, Lynda and Michael Mazzella, of Howell, and Lisa and Chris Van-Vorst, of Bayville; a sister, Annie Fino, of Mastic Beach, N.Y.; a brother-in-law, Antonio Lago, of Bellrose, N.Y.; and six grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Freeman Manalapan-Marlboro Funeral Home, Manalapan, followed by burial in Ardena Cemetery, Howell.
HERMAN GOLDFINE
HERMAN GOLDFINE, 92, of New Brunswick, died June 8 at Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. He was born in Jersey City and had resided in New Brunswick for the past 55 years. A graduate of New York University, New York City, Mr. Goldfine was the owner and operator of Rivoli Music Shop, New Brunswick, from 1946 until his retirement in 1977. He was a former member of the city of New Brunswick Planning Board. Mr. Goldfine had established a scholarship fund at Douglass College, New Brunswick, in memory of his wife, Jeanne Bernstein Goldfine, who died in 1995. Surviving are a son, Leonard Goldfine, of Berkeley, Calif.; a daughter, Dr. Susan Goldfine, of New York City; a brother, Dr. William Goldfine, of Freehold; a sister, Secye Yaro, of New York City; and two grandchildren. Funeral services were held at the Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, followed by interment at Congregation Sons of Israel Cemetery, Englishtown.
GILBERT P. TITUS
GILBERT P. TITUS, 76, of Lakewood, died June 4 at Beylea Nursing Home, Toms River. Born in South River, he had resided in Englishtown before moving to Lakewood 35 years ago. Mr. Titus was a mason for G&G Bokop Mason Contractors, Englishtown, for 30 years, retiring in 1980. Surviving are his wife, Louise Schultz Titus; a son, William, of Englishtown; three daughters, Laura Riggleman, of Englishtown, Patricia Titus, of Coconut Creek, Fla., and Suzanne Hite, of Mill Creek, W.Va.; 13 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren. The Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.
SYLVIA MORETO
SYLVIA MORETO, 93, of Freehold Township, died June 7 at John L. Montgomery Division, Monmouth County Health Care, Freehold Township. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she had resided in Jersey City for many years before moving to Freehold 10 years ago. Mrs. Moreto was a former communicant of St. Peter’s R.C. Church, Jersey City. She was predeceased by her husband, Louis, who died in 1984. Surviving are two sons, Louis, of Freehold Township, and Ira, of Bakersfield, Calif.; a daughter, Louise Moreto, of Queens, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Robert Bellarmine R.C. Church, Freehold Township, under the direction of the Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold.
RITA BOYLE NAZARUK
RITA BOYLE NAZARUK, 78, of Freehold Township, died June 10 at home. Born in the Adelphia section of Howell, she had been a resident of Freehold Township for the past 45 years. A 1939 graduate of Freehold High School, Mrs. Nazaruk was a secretary for the Monmouth County Surrogate’s Office, Freehold, for 15 years, retiring in 1995. She was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima Church, Freehold. Surviving are her husband, Emil; three sons, James and John, both of Freehold Township, and David, of Gaston, S.C.; two daughters, Mary "Terry" Nazaruk and Rita Nazaruk, both of Freehold Township; two sisters, Anna Sweetman, of Freehold, and Bella Daley, of Yardley, Pa.; and two grandchildren. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, followed by interment at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery, Freehold Township. The Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements. JEAN ROSENBERG
JEAN ROSENBERG, 81, of Hoosick Falls, N.Y., died June 9 at home. She was born in Poland and had resided in Florida and the Covered Bridge section of Manalapan for 21 years before moving to Hoosick Falls six months ago. Mrs. Rosenberg was a Holocaust survivor. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph, who died in 1994. Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Sidney and Joan Rosenberg, of Manalapan, and Stanley and Bernice Rosenberg, of Hoosick Falls, N.Y.; a sister and brother-in-law, Esther and Alec Neuman, of Patchogue, N.Y.; four grandchildren; and one great-grandchild. The Bloomfield-Cooper Jewish Chapels, Manalapan, was in charge of arrangements.
NICK SHYMKO
NICK SHYMKO, 71, of Freehold Township, died June 9 at home. He was born in Newark and had resided in Old Bridge before moving to Freehold Township 23 years ago. At the time of his retirement in 1987, Mr. Shymko had been employed as a supervisor for General Motors in Linden for 37 years. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, and attained the rank of lieutenant. Mr. Shymko was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church, Freehold; a life member of the Disabled American Veterans Chapter NJ67; and a member of General Motors Retirees Club, Linden. Surviving are his wife, Ruth M. Zarra Shymko; a son, James F. Palmieri, of Woodbridge; two daughters, Deborah R. Perez, of Howell, and Gayle A. Kurtz, of Lakewood; two brothers, Joseph Shymko, of Kearny, and John Shymko, of Colonia; a sister, Ann Sponola, of Boca Raton, Fla.; and six grandchildren. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, followed by entombment at Holmdel Cemetery Mausoleum, Holmdel. The Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.
JOHN J. WEST, JR.
JOHN J. WEST, JR., 65, of Freehold, died June 4 at Brick Hospital, Brick Township. Born in Neptune Township, he was a lifelong resident of Freehold. Mr. West was a senior maintenance repairman for the Freehold Borough Streets and Road Department for 19 years, retiring this year. Prior to working for the borough, he had been a self-employed roofing contractor. Mr. West served in the Naval Reserve from 1952-60. He was a communicant of St. Rose of Lima R.C. Church; a former member of the Freehold Jaycees; and a former member of Freehold Council 1672 Knights of Columbus, all of Freehold. He was past president of Branch No. 9, Local No. 1032, Communications Workers of America. Surviving are his son, John P., of Lanoka Harbor; a daughter and son-in-law, Beth Ann and Dr. Drew Locandro, of Marietta, Ga.; and three grandchildren. The funeral liturgy was celebrated at St. Rose of Lima Church, under the direction of the Freeman Funeral Home, Freehold.
