Helen Coons
RARITAN TOWNSHIP — Helen Coons, 65, died Monday, June 5, at Hunterdon Medical Center.
Born in East Amwell, she was a longtime Hillsborough Township resident before moving to Raritan Township 10 years ago.
She was a homemaker.
Daughter of the late Millard and Catherine Eick Whited, mother of the late Helen Berry and sister of the late Henry Whited and Hazel Bastedo, she is survived by her husband, Charles E.; a daughter, Ellen Hufford of Stockton; two sons, Clinton of Nazareth, Pa., and Stephen of Raritan Township; a stepdaughter, Grace Lemarie of Toms River; three sisters, Catherine Whited of Flemington, Ethel Teffenhart of Ringoes and Catherine Ervine of Ewing; a brother, Raymond Whited of Hopewell; and six grandchildren.
The funeral was held Friday at Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, Flemington. Burial was in Highland Cemetery, Hopewell.
Doris Culberson
SERGEANTSVILLE — Doris M. Culberson, 80, died Tuesday, June 6, at Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township.
Born in Ringoes, she was a longtime Sergeantsville resident.
She was a bookkeeper with the New Jersey Department of State; H.C. Richards, Trenton; Flemington Egg Auction; and Lambertville Hosiery Mill. She was a cashier and bookkeeper with Locktown Sweater Shop.
She was a 65-year member of the First Brethren Church of Sergeantsville where she was a deacon, choir member, treasurer and Sunday school teacher and superintendent. She was a member of Sergeantsville Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary and a past president of Delaware Township Parent-Teacher Association.
She attended Sergeantsville schools and graduated from Flemington High School in 1938.
Daughter of the late Frank G. and Marion Brewer Lambert, she is survived by her husband of 54 years, James Culberson; a son, Randy, of Flemington; a daughter, Debra Colby of Stockton; two sisters, Alice Everitt of Ringoes and Eve Emmons of Sergeantsville; two brothers, Thomas Lambert of Stockton and Orville Lambert of Flemington; five grandchildren; and a son-in-law and daughter-in-law.
The funeral was held Monday at the church. Burial was in Rosemont Cemetery.

Eugenia Czajka
WEST AMWELL — Eugenia L. Czajka, 69, died Wednesday, June 7, at Capital Health System at Fuld hospital, Trenton.
Born in West Amwell, she was a lifelong resident.
She was a homemaker.
She graduated from Lambertville High School and enjoyed baking and helping the needy.
Daughter of the late Francis and Catherine Bolanowski Ziolkowski and widow of Leo Czajka, she is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, William and Shirley Czajka of Ringoes; a daughter and son-in-law, Cathy Ann and Hugh Pepper of Furlong, Pa.; a brother, Edward Ziolkowski of Lambertville; five grandchildren, Christy, Shawn, Kimberly, Gary and Evan; and nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Monday at St. Alphonsus Church with the Rev. Paul Rimassa officiating. Burial was in Highland Cemetery, Hopewell.
Arrangements were under the direction of Cromwell Memorial Home, 71 E. Prospect St., Hopewell.

MARY JANE SCARPA
MARY JANE SCARPA, 81, of East Brunswick, died June 6 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. Her husband, Joseph R. Scarpa, died in 1969. Surviving are a daughter, Laura Scarpa of East Brunswick; three granddaughters; and two great-grandchildren. Services were arranged by Crabiel Home for Funerals, Milltown, with a memorial Mass at St. Bartholomew’s Church, East Brunswick. JAMES STEWART, 88, of Surf City, formerly of South River, died June 2 in South Ocean County Hospital, Manahawkin. His wife, Sophie Schack Stewart, died in 1999. Surviving are a daughter, Mary Ann Raps of Spotswood; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Services were arranged by Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick, with a Mass at St. Mary of Ostrabrama Church, South River. Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Brunswick.
VINCENT A. GRANDE
VINCENT A. GRANDE, 70, of East Brunswick, died June 2 in Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital, New Brunswick. He was a fire official and commissioner for East Brunswick Township for 25 years prior to his retirement in 1992. Surviving are his wife, Lois Gelinas Grande; two sons, Wayne and William, both of East Brunswick; two daughters, Lynn of East Brunswick and Jill Mazzola, also of East Brunswick; a brother, William of the Brick Town section of Brick; a sister, Ann Hackett of Old Bridge; and five grandchildren. Services were arranged by Brunswick Memorial Funeral Home, East Brunswick, with a Mass at St. Bartholomew’s Church, East Brunswick. Entombment was in Holy Cross Burial Park, South Brunswick. DERRY HANSEN, 48, of East Brunswick, died June 8 in West Jersey Hospital, Berlin Township. Surviving are a son, Max Hansen of Long Meadow, Mass.; his parents, Julia and Oscar Hansen of East Brunswick; a brother, Gregory Hansen of Williamsburg, Va.; and a sister, Deborah Hansen of the Cedar Brook section of Winslow. Services were held at Rezem Funeral Home, East Brunswick. Interment was in St. Mary’s Cemetery, East Brunswick.

HELEN MEEHAN BALDWIN, 89, of East Brunswick, died June 11 in Cedar Brook Care Center, Plainfield. Her husband, Joseph E. Baldwin, died in 1963. Surviving are three daughters, Patricia Higgins and Kathleen Capodanno, both of East Brunswick, and Peggy Gugliemelli of Staten Island, N.Y.; a brother, James Meehan of Hampton, N.Y.; a sister, Winifred Mueller of East Brunswick; 11 grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren. Services were arranged by Brunswick Memorial Home, East Brunswick, with a Mass planned for June 14 at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Interment will follow in Chestnut Hill Cemetery, East Brunswick.

ELAINE IRMA DEITZ SIEGEL, 65, of Monroe, died June 7 in St. Peter’s University Hospital, New Brunswick. Surviving are her husband, Howard; two sons, Scott L. of Freehold and Adam of Brooklyn, N.Y.; two daughters, Lisa Sue of Edison and Staci Hegedus of the West Creek section of Eagleswood; a brother, Robert Deitz of Deer Park, N.Y.; and two grandchildren. Surviving are her husband, Stephen Nyers; a daughter, Regina Rembert of Monroe; two sons, Stephen Nyers of New Brunswick and Brian Nyers of Old Bridge; two brothers, Rocco Matarangolo of Perth Amboy and Louis Matarangolo of Florida; a sister, Marie Dziedzic of the Parlin section of Sayreville; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Services were arranged by Maliszewski Memorial Home, Sayreville, with a Mass at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, Old Bridge. Entombment was in Forest Green Park Cemetery, Old Bridge.
