ROBERT E. VOGEL, 63, of Shrewsbury died Aug. 31 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Newark, he lived in Red Bank and Union before moving to Shrewsbury in 1967. He was a funeral director for the John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank, for 33 years upon retirement in January. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church at Shrewsbury. He was also a member of the Morning Claybird Shooting Club, Rumson, as well as an avid fisherman. He was predeceased by his parents, Ernest and Carol Vogel. He is survived by his daughter with whom he lived, Karin Vogel of Shrewsbury; a son, William J. and daughter-in-law Marie Vogel of Reading, Pa.; a sister, Shirley and brother-in-law Walt Hansen of Bolton, Mass.; his best friend, Mary Lou Mason; five nieces and nephews; 12 great-nieces and great-nephews; and his former wife, Nancy Loebel of North Long Branch. KATHY G. MOLTISANTI PREHART, 41, of Middletown died Sept. 1 after an automobile accident in Tinton Falls. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and lived in Holmdel prior to moving to Middletown 11 years ago. She was a graduate of Brookdale Community College, Lincroft, and an office worker for Lucent Technologies, Holmdel, until 1998. She was predeceased by her father, Anthony Moltisanti, in 1997. She is survived by her husband, Richard Prehart Sr. of Middletown; a son, Richard Prehart Jr.; and daughter, Jacqueline Prehart, both of Middletown; her mother, Anna Moltisanti of Holmdel; and two sisters, Maria Gingerelli of Howell, and Christine Flynn of Watchung. Services were arranged by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown, with a Mass at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Middletown. Entombment was at Holmdel Mausoleum.
CHARLES EDWARD THOMPSON, 90, of Red Bank died Sept. 1 at Brick Hospital, Brick Township. Born in Home, Pa., he previously lived in Michigan before moving to Red Bank nine months ago. He was an automotive engineer for the Fisher Body Co., Detroit, Mich. prior to retirement. He was a member of the Westminster Presbyterian Church, Detroit. He was a former chairman of the Bloomfield Township (Michigan) Planning Commission, as well as a member of the Free and Accepted Masons, Michigan. He is survived by his wife, Dorothy E. Schultz Thompson, and a daughter, Camille E. Thompson, both of Red Bank. Services were arranged by Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, with a Mass at the First Presbyterian Church, Freehold.
CORNELIUS P. CASSIDY, 79, of Tinton Falls died Sept. 5 at home. He was born in Jersey City. He was a manager of administration services for A.M. International, East Hanover, for 32 years prior to retirement in 1983. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was a recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a past commander of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 2179 in the Port Monmouth section of Middletown, as well as past commander of American Legion Post 515, Little Silver. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus, 4th Degree. He was predeceased by his wife, Anne McKeown Cassidy, in 1996; and a son, Kevin Cassidy, in 1973. He is survived by three sons, Dennis and daughter-in-law Ceil Cassidy of Elizabeth, Neal Cassidy of Neptune, and Michael and daughter-in-law Fran Cassidy of Monmouth County; four daughters, Noreen and son-in-law Kelly Cosentino of Shrewsbury, Kathleen and son-in-law Joe Perez of New Hampshire, Patricia and son-in-law Mark Bonnell of Florida, and Margaret Cassidy of Tinton Falls; and 13 grandchildren. Services were arranged by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown, with a Mass at St. Catherine’s Roman Catholic Church, Spring Lake. Interment
is Sept. 11 at General William C. Doyle Veterans Cemetery, Arnytown.
EDWIN LEON SEXTON JR., 82, of Red Bank, died Oct. 23 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Arizona, he lived and attended college in Los Angeles prior to moving to Red Bank. He was a biochemist nutritionist for Best Foods, Union, for 35 years, and retired in 1980. He was also an emeritus member of the American Chemical Society, the Institute of Food Technologists, and the American Association of Cereal Chemists. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Red Bank. He was predeceased by his first wife, Beatrice Graham Sexton, in 1969. He is survived by his wife, Louise Morrow Sexton, Red Bank; and several cousins in southern California. Services were arranged by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. MARGARET FARINA MESEROLL, 76, of Red Bank, died Oct. 29 at home. Born in Boonton, she formerly resided in Highlands, and moved to Red Bank in 1970. She was an assembler for Bendix Corp., Eatontown, for 31 years. She was a member of Tower Hill First Presbyterian Church, Red Bank, and a member and driver for FISH (For I Shall Help); and held offices and positions with the Order of the Eastern Star. She was a member and secretary for the Bendix Retirement Club, Eatontown. She was honored at the "Rosie the Riveters" reunion in 1999. During World War II, she worked for the Eastern Aircraft Division of General Motors, helping build more than 5, 000 Wild Cat Fighters for the U.S. Navy. She was predeceased by her first husband, Frederick F. Farina, in 1951; her husband, Harold D. Meseroll, in 1985. She is survived by her son, Fred E. and daughter-in-law Barbara Farina of Atlanta; her daughter Frances M. and son-in-law Roger Somers of Tinton Falls; her brother, Herman Buhrig of Madison; her sister, Bertha Durante of West Long Branch; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. KATHLEEN MARY VERDON SPISAK, 33, of Springfield, Va., died Oct. 28 at National Institutes of Health Clinical Center, Bethesda, Md., after a battle with malignant melanoma. Formerly of Rumson, she served disadvantaged women in the Washington, D.C. area, while was pursuing her MSN in OB-GYN at George Mason University, Fairfax, Va. She is survived by her husband, Craig Spisak of Springfield, Va.; her mother, Kathleen Breslin of Tinton Falls; her father and his wife, John J. and Mary Ellen Verdon, Jr. of Long Branch; two brothers and sisters-in-law, John J. and Ines Verdon III of San Francisco, and Michael and Marci Verdon of Erie, Pa; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Amy Verdon and Michael Lewis of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Renee and Daniel Strack of Red Bank. Services were arranged by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank, with a Mass at Holy Trinity, Georgetown, Washington, D.C. CHARLES RICHARD ADAM, 74, of Sanibel Island, Fla., died May 5. Mr. Adam was a former resident of Woodstock, Vt., Middletown and Rumson. He moved to Monmouth County in 1960. He was a graduate of Ridgewood High School and participated in the V12 Education Program, and attended RPI in New York and Stevens Tech. He served as a U.S. Naval Aircraft Gunner and ordinance man during World War II. He was co-founder and owner of COMAR Industries, a subcontractor to U.S. Rubber, and was the co-founder and owner of Cascade Industries/Buster Crabbe Swimming Pools International. During this time, Mr. Adam helped design and manufacture the bellows apparatus for the Iron Lung Breathing Machine. Mr. Adam loved woodworking and woodcarving. He was a talented furniture and oil painting restorer, and an ardent antique and art collector. He recently participated in online auctions. He was an avid fisherman and loved the outdoors. He spent his early childhood in Cleveland, Ohio, and was a lifelong fan of the Cleveland Indians. Mr. Adam was predeceased by his parents, Sarah and George G. Adam. Surviving are his wife, Marie T. Adam; a son and daughter-in-law, George C. and Cordie Adam, of Middletown; a stepdaughter and son-in-law, Catherine B. and Brad Thorpe, of Fair Haven; a stepson and daughter-in-law, J.P. and Maria Baar, of Miami, Fla.; a sister, Donna Fleming, of San Diego, Calif.; and grandchildren, Charles "Chase" Adam, Chelsea and Cameron Thorpe, and J.P. Baar Jr. Services were under the direction of John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. There will be a private family service at George Washington Memorial Cemetery, Paramus.
PATRICIA A. (GRADY) McNAMARA, 70, of Oceanport, died May 3 at home. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and had lived in Oceanport since 1968. Mrs. McNamara retired last year after 25 years of service with Monmouth University, West Long Branch, where she was an office manager. Mrs. McNamara was predeceased by her husband, John J.; and a daughter, Linda Kozonasky, both in 1994. She is survived by two sons, John J. III, Ewing, and Mark, Oceanport; a daughter, Barbara Conover, Oceanport; and eight grandchildren. Braun Funeral Home, Eatontown, was in charge of arrangements. Interment

ONAS J. DAVIDSON, 80, of Rumson died July 13 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. He was born in Sea Bright, and lived most of his life in Rumson. He was a marine engineer for 46 years for the Grace Lines before retirement in 1985. He was a member of the Merchant Marine during World War II and received commendation from the Russian government. He was a member of the Masonic Shriners Lodge in Chile, where, in addition to Nova Scotia, he owned a home. He was predeceased by his brother, Christian Frank Davidson, in 1997. He is survived by an aunt, Jennie Shires of Rumson; a cousin, William Shires of Rumson; two nieces; and two nephews. Services were arranged by John F.
