George H. Bertelson
NEWARK, DE - George H. Bertelson, age 80 years, of Newark, DE, died on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 in Christianna Hospital, Newark, DE.
Born in Jersey City, NJ, May 26, 1927, son of the late John H. and Arnhild Haaheim Bertelson, he had been a longtime resident of Branchburg, NJ prior to moving to Newark, DE several months ago.
A United States Naval Veteran of World War II, Mr. Bertelson worked as a member of the Dock Builder's Union # 1456, New York City, NY. He was also a longtime member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Flemington, NJ.
George was a loving husband, father, brother and grandfather. He leaves behind many good friends as well. He was passionate about his work which is proudly displayed all over New Jersey and New York. An avid golfer, George loved to play with his boys and grandchildren - and, for that matter, anyone else willing to come along! He will most certainly be missed
His wife of fifty-six years, Thordis (Teddy) Framnes Bertelson, died in 2004; a son, Kevin Bertelson, died earlier as well as his step-mother, Amanda Hansen.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Corlee B. and David Louder of Red Bank, NJ and Karen B. and Michael Roberts of Newark, DE; two sons and daughters-in-law, Mark E. and Patty Bertelson of East Brunswick, NJ and Jeff and Annette Bertelson of Hartland, WI; a brother, Roy M. Bertelsen of Saylorsburg, PA; and seven grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held on Monday at 10:00 a.m. in St. Paul Lutheran Church, 201 Highway 31, Flemington, NJ under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment
will follow in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Flemington, NJ. Calling hours will be Sunday from 2-5 p.m. in the Funeral Home.

Danny Federici
NEW YORK CITY, NY - Danny Federici, keyboard player for Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, died April 17, 2008 of melanoma. He is survived by his wife, Maya, his son Jason and his daughters, Harley and Madison.
Federici, known to legions of fans as Phantom Dan, played with Springsteen for 40 years, beginning in the New Jersey band Steel Mill in 1968. He also recorded with several other artists, including Graham Parker, the Bodeans, Garland Jeffreys, Gary U.S. Bonds, and Joan Armatrading.
Federici also made two solo jazz albums, Flemington and Out of a Dream. Often regarded as the heart of the E Street Band's sound, Danny Federici's distinctive work on organ, accordion and glockenspiel in classic E Street songs such as "Sandy, " "Hungry Heart, " "Racing in the Street, " "independnece Day, " "Fade Away" and on the most recent album, Magic, "Living in the Future" makes him an eternal presence in Springsteen's music in particular and rock & roll in general. He will be missed but never forgotten.

Edgar L. Van Zandt
PLAINSBORO TOWNSHIP, NJ - Edgar L. Van Zandt, age 80 years, of Plainsboro Township, NJ, died on Thursay, December 25, 2008 in Kindred Hospital, Havertown, PA
Born in Princeton, NJ, August 24, 1928, son of the late John Percy and Helen Benedict Van Zandt, he had resided in Plainsboro since 1998, having formerly lived in Flemington, NJ for many years.
A 1949 graduate of Cornell University, with a B.S. in Agriculture, Mr. Van Zandt owned and operated Van Zandt Sales & Service Company, first in Blawenburg, NJ, then in Raritan Township, NJ.
After selling his firm in 1980, he became a sales representative with Hobensack Farm Equipment, Warminster, PA.
Among Mr. Van Zandt's numberous civic activities, he was a longtime Treasuer for Habitat for Humanity, Trenton, NJ; was the former head of the Hunterdon County Housing Association where he was responsible for obtaining low-cost senior citizen housing in Flemington, NJ; was a longtime member of the Flemington Baptist Church; was a fifty plus year member of the Princeton Agricultural Society; was head of the Buildings & Roads Committee of Princeton Windrows, Plainsboro, NJ; was a former and Honorary member of the Flemington Rotary Club; was a member of the Princeton Old Guard; and was formerly the Treasurer of Thompson's Point Association, Charlotte, VT.
His wife of fifty-three years, Edna Gillett Van Zandt, died in 2005.
Surviving are two sons, David E. Van Zandt of Chicago, IL and Thomas R. Van Zandt of Redondo Beach, CA; two daughters, Mary V.Z. Wachterhauser of Havertown, PA and Shirley E. Van Zandt of Upperco, MD; a brother, John P. Van Zandt, Jr. of Winston-Salem, NC; a sister, Elizabeth Adams of Greenville, SC; and six grandchildren.
Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, January 3, 2009 at 1:00 p.m. in Blawenburg Reformed Church, 424 County Highway 518, Blawenburg, NJ under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment
was private in Blawenburg Cemetery, Blawenburg, NJ. There are no calling hours.

HILLSBOROUGH TOWNSHIP, NJ - Sophie Wetzel, age 104 years, of Neshanic Station, NJ, died on Saturday, November 17, 2007, in Foothill Acres Nusring Center, Hillsborough Township, NJ.
Born in Germany, December 12, 1902, she was the daughter of the late Franz and Anna Dahlmaier Meyer.
She was a homemaker.
Her husband, John Wetzel, died in 1966. Surviving are a son, John Wetzel, of Neshanic Station, NJ.
Services and interment in St. Bernard's Cemetery, Bridgewater, NJ, will be private under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
Elsie Gural
KINGWOOD TOWNSHIP, NJ - Elsie Gural, age 70 years, of Kingwood Township, NJ died on Tuesday, June 1, 2004 at the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Kingwood Township, June 21, 1933, daughter of the late Michael and Pearl Shyban Gural, she had resided in Kingwood Township all her life.
She was employed for over 30 years by the Lipton Corporation, Raritan Township, NJ, retiring in 1999.
Surviving are her companion, Charles Zultanski; a niece, Debbie Morrison of Kingwood Township, NJ; and three nephews, Michael Gural of Kingwood Township, NJ, Emil Gural, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL, and Richard Gural of Phoenixville, PA.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment

Walter Raymond (Ray) Garrett
RARITAN TOWNSHIP, NJ - Walter Raymond (Ray) Garrett, age 90 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Sunday, December 6, 2009 in the Hunterdon Care Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Bloomfield, NJ, January 30, 1919, son of the late Walter Kennard and Maude Mary Shuttleworth Garrett, he had resided in Raritan Township for the past three years, having formerly lived in Blairsville, GA and Greece, NY.
A Master Sergeant in United States Army during World War II, Mr. Garrett served as a Medic. After being honorably discharged, he went on to teach radiography for the Eastman Kodak Company, Rochester, NY.
He was a member of Clio Lodge 779, F.& A.M. in Hilton, NY. Additionally, Mr. Garrett served as a Past President of the ASNT (American Society for Nondestructive Testing).
His wife of fifty-five years, Lydia Ann Stelling Garrett, died in 2001. He was also pre-deceased by sister, Joan Gostkowski.
Surviving are two daughters, Lynn (Dennis) McCrossen and their children, Julie and Mark, and Dale (Alexander) Edwards and their children, Kimber and Stacey; a son, Alan (Patricia) Garrett and their children, Emily and Anna; five great grandchildren; and three sisters, Dorothy Wengland, Hazel Lippincott and Ruth Pfizenmaier.

Samantha Kaminski
ALBRIGHTSVILLE, PA - Samantha B. Kaminski, age 18 years, of Albrightsville, PA, died in Geisinger-Wyoming Valley Medical Center, Wilkes-Barre, PA on Tuesday, April 5, 2011, from the result of injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Born in Raritan Township, NJ, September 2, 1992, she was the daughter of Thomas G. and Patricia Creighton Kaminski, she had formerly resided in Flemington, NJ and High Bridge, NJ.
Samantha was a student at ITT Tech, Dunmore, PA studying Criminal Justice. She was employed by Gertrude Hawk Chocolates in Dunmore.
Surviving, in addition to her parents, are a son, Brandon Lee Horn; and a sister, Suzanne Jewell of Albrightsville, PA; a nephew, Brian Thomas Vliet of Albrightsville, PA; her grandmother, the Rev. Lois Creighton of Kennett Square, PA and grandmother, Maria Kaminski, of Carteret, NJ; cousin Lauryn Blaum of Gouldsboro, PA, and her aunt, Elizabeth Cotner of Gouldsboro, PA. She was also the granddaughter of the late Rev. Linn Creighton, former longtime pastor of the Flemington Presbyterian Church.

Peter H. Kuhn
FRANKLIN TOWNSHIP, NJ - Peter H. Kuhn, age 54 years, of Franklin Township, Hunterdon County, NJ, died on Thursday, June 25, 2009 in Southern Ocean County Hospital, Stafford Township, NJ.
Born in Summit, NJ, April 14, 1955, son of Elizabeth "Lib" Dowd Kuhn of New Bern, NC and the late Jean Henry Kuhn, he had resided in Franklin Township since 1995, having formerly lived in Basking Ridge, NJ and Chatham Township, NJ.
Peter was an accomplished race car driver, having attained multiple titles in the 1978 Formula Ford Northeast Driving Championship and the 1980 BOSCH Formula Super-Vee National Driving Championship. In 1980, he won both the USAC and SCCA Formula Super-Vee championships. Following these IndyCar racing successes, Peter was a driver in the CART World Series and later became the executive vice president and general manager for ROBCO Racing Team and an American Les Mans Series team owner.
Peter became a self-employed contractor after leaving the world of motor sports to focus on his family. He was a wonderful husband and father, an avid surfer, a talented musician and a friend to all he met. It is impossible to assess the continued impact Peter’s death will have on the many who loved him.
His sister, Beth Clark, pre-deceased him in 2004.
Surviving in addition to his mother, are his wife of twenty-four years, Sarah Elliott Kuhn; two daughters, Carson Kuhn of Asbury Park, NJ and Tate Kuhn of Franklin Township, NJ; his mother-in-law, Beverley Elliott of New Hope, PA; a brother-in-law, Dr. Charles Clark of Ann Arbor, MI; two sisters-in-law, Rebecca Rude of New Hope, PA and Abigail Gergasko of Santa Fe, NM; a brother-in-law Michael Gergasko, of Santa Fe, NM and several nieces and nephews, Peter Clark, Laura Clark, Jessica Landry, Daniel Rude, Eric Rude, Emily Gergasko and Martha Gergasko.
A celebration of Peter's life will be held on Wednesday, July, 1, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at Bethlehem Presbyterian Church, 2 Race Street, Pittstown, NJ. A reception will follow. Interment
