Dorothy Currie
RARITAN TOWNSHIP, NJ - Dorothy Murphy Currie, 91, passed away on October 8, 2011. She was born and raised in Paterson, New Jersey. She was the daughter of the late William and Louise Murphy of Paterson, New Jersey.
She graduated from St. John’s High School, Paterson, New Jersey. In 1941 she graduated from St. Joseph’s School of Nursing. After graduation she married
her high school sweetheart, the late Woodrow “Sonny” Currie in February 1942. They were married
for fifty-two years before Sonny passed away. Her husband served in the US Army during World War ll, and retired from Curtiss Wright. He was a well known pitcher in New Jersey Semi Pro Baseball Leagues and was inducted into the Bergen County Baseball Hall of Fame.
Dorothy is the mother of seven children: Louise, Dorothy, William, Claire, Daniel, Maureen and Kathleen. She is the beloved grandmother of 24 grandchildren and 18 great grand children. Her goodness, love and spirit touched all their lives. Dorothy and her husband lived in Paterson during their early married
years, moving to Wayne where they lived for decades before finally settling in Flemington, New Jersey.
Dorothy loved being a nurse. During her forty-two year nursing career she worked at the St. Joseph Hospital, Paterson, New Jersey, later in private practice for the late Dr. Joseph Gortych of Wayne and ended her nursing career at American Cyanamid, Wayne, New Jersey. She was a proud member of the New Jersey State Nursing Association. After her formal retirement, she maintained her life- long interest in the field of nursing.
Dorothy was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church in Baptisttown, New Jersey.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 8 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Entombment will be held on Thursday at 10:30 AM in St. Magdalen Mausoleum, Flemington, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Wednesday from 5-8 PM in the funeral home.
Edna Sherry
CLINTON TOWNSHIP, NJ - Edna Sherry, age 90 years, formerly of Flemington, NJ, died October 18, 2011, in Rolling Hills Care Center, Clinton Township, NJ.
Born in Readington Township, NJ, August 19, 1921, daughter of the late Robert and Mary Johnson Potts, she had resided in Flemington most of her life.
She was a homemaker and was a member of the Readington Reformed Church.
Her husband Daniel Sherry died in 1999. Surviving are a sister, Louis Potts of Chandler, AZ and several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held at 10 AM on Friday, October 21, 2011 in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Flemington, NJ under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
Rita Sulewski
UNION TOWNSHIP, NJ - Rita Sulewski, age 91 years, of Union Township, Hunterdon County, NJ, died on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at the Country Arch Care Center, Pittstown, NJ.
Born in Newark, NJ, July 21, 1920, she attended St. Aloyisius School and Graduated from Newark Commercial High School. She lived in Maplewood, NJ for many years, where she attended St. Joseph’s Church and was a member of the Rosary Society. She was also a member of several senior citizens groups.
While raising her family Mrs. Sulewski was a Girl Scout Leader and an active participant in the PTA.
Mrs. Sulewski worked for many years as a department manager in Orbach’s Department Store in Newark, NJ.
She moved to Union Township, NJ ten years ago.
In her later years Mrs. Sulewski enjoyed travelling and spending time with her family. Always a people person, she made friends wherever she went. She especially loved children and animals, and made pet toys and worked on baby quilts to be distributed locally.
Predeceased by her best friend and husband Henry. She leaves behind her loving family, daughter Carol, son-in-law Fred and grandson Christian. Also sister-in-law Genevieve Manning, brother in law James Manning, brother in law Chester Sulewski, as well as nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind many wonderful friends and caregivers at the Country Arch Care Center.
Funeral Services and interment in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, East Hanover, NJ will be private under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.

Michael T. Newman
DELAWARE TOWNSHIP, NJ - Michael T. Newman, age 57 years, of Delaware Township, NJ, died October 22, 2011 at his residence.
Born in Plainfield, NJ, May 1, 1954, son of Rose Dressler Newman of Venice, FL, and the late George Newman. He resided in Delaware Township for forty years.
He was a 1972 graduate of Hunterdon Central High School and was a landscaper with Belle Mead Nursery, Hillsborough, NJ. He was an avid golfer and Green Bay Packers fan.
In addition to his mother he is survived by his wife of thirty years, Debra Stockton Newman; two daughters and a son-in-law, Kasey Newman-Goyette and Timothy of Flemington, NJ and Danielle Newman of Delaware Township, NJ; two grandchildren, Kaylee Rose Newman and Liam Michael Goyette; three sisters, Patricia Zingler of Venice, FL, Joan Schulz of Lambertville, NJ and Linda Haines of Delaware Township, NJ and two brothers, George Newman of Venice FL, and Ronald Newman of Colorado.
Arrangements and interment will be private under the direction of Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.

John R. Dedreu
WHITEHOUSE STATION, NJ - John R. Dedreu, age 67 years, of Whitehouse Station, NJ, died on Friday, February 17, 2012 in the Easton Nursing Center, Easton, PA.
Born in Jersey City, NJ, July 11, 1944, son of the late Edward and Doris Dedreu, he had resided in Whitehouse Station since 2011, having formerly lived in Toms River, NJ.
A United States Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War, Mr. Dedreu was a retired Fort Monmouth, NJ Police Officer.
His wife, Carolyn Skura Dedreu, died in 2010.
Surviving are a daughter, Laura Dedreu of Whitehouse Station, NJ; a son, John Dedreu of Bensalem, PA; two brothers, James Dedreu in Georgia and Robert Dedreu in Texas; a sister, Michelle Locario of Clifton, NJ; and a grandson, Nicholas Dedreu of Whitehouse Station, NJ.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 4:00 p.m. in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. There will be no calling hours. Interment
at sea with military honors will be conducted privately by the United States Navy.

Anna E. Holbrook
BRIDGEWATER, NJ - Anna E. Holbrook, age 81 years, of Bridgewater, NJ, died on Friday, October 28, 2011, in Arbor Glen, Bridgewater, NJ.
Born in Three Bridges, NJ, April 7, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Chester H. and Emma Gould Herder. She had resided in the Somerville, NJ area since 1989.
She was a 1948 graduate of Flemington High School and a 1952 graduate of Hope College, Holland, MI.
She married
the Rev. Joseph Holbrook in 1953, and served with him in churches in New Jersey, Chicago, Brooklyn, and Denver. Active in Reformed Church Women's Ministries, she was former president of the Synod West of The Reformed Church Women's Ministry and former member of its executive board. She was formerly a national coordinator and facilitator for Women In Leadership seminars; served as a seminar and retreat leader and was a devotional speaker for women's groups. She was a longtime volunteer for food programs, homeless, and church programs, especially Habitat For Humanity, The Interfaith Hospitality Network, and The Samaritan Homeless of Somerville. She was a member of the Middlebush Reformed Church and the United Reformed Church of Somerville.
Her husband, Rev. Joseph Holbrook, died in 2004. Surviving are two daughters, Harriett E. and her husband David Lui of Hong Kong, and Sarah Harper Holbrook and her husband, W. Allen Scheuch of Brooklyn, NY; a son, Rev. Taylor W. Holbrook and his wife, Cathleen Bast Holbrook, of Hopewell Junction, NY; two brothers, Robert Herder of Flemington, NJ, and C. Edward Herder of Three Bridges, NJ; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 3 PM in the Three Bridges Reformed Church, Main Street, Three Bridges, NJ. Interment
will be in Three Bridges Cemetery, Three Bridges, NJ, under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. There will be no calling hours.

Hazel M. Higgins
LEBANON TOWNSHIP, NJ - Hazel M. Higgins, age 73 years, of Lebanon Township, NJ died October 27, 2011, in the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Clarks Summit, PA, July 29, l938, daughter of the late Ellis and Dorothy Killian Williams, she had resided in Nicholson, PA most of her life.
A homemaker, she is survived by several cousins.

Nancy R. Phillips
EWING, NJ - Nancy R. Phillips, age 78 years, of Ewing, NJ, died on Wednesday, October 12, 2011, at her residence.
Born in Lambertville, NJ, March 24, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Angelo and Rose Nanni Correnti. She had formerly resided in West Amwell Township, NJ.
She was a retired postal worker. She was a former Den Mother and Girl Scout leader in West Amwell Township, NJ. She was a former member of the Glen Gardner PTA and West Amwell PTA, and member of the West Amwell Wonders Seniors Club, and a member of the Primrose Village Homeowners Association Social Club.
Surviving are her husband of fifty-six years, Randall S. Phillips, Jr.; a daughter, Karen Shipman, of Flemington, NJ; a son, Keith S. Phillips, of Telford, PA; a granddaughter, Brittany Stewart of Trenton, NJ; and a great-grandson, Ryan Stewart of Trenton, NJ; and two sisters, Marie Kelson of Bloomsbury, NJ, and Shirley Legge of East Windsor, NJ.
A Mass of Christian Burial
will be celebrated on Saturday at 10 AM in Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 137 Upper Ferry Road, West Trenton, NJ, under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment
will be private in Harbourton Cemetery, Harbourton, NJ. There will be no calling hours.
