Lazelle S. Knocke
READINGTON TOWNSHIP, NJ - Lazelle S. Knocke, (nee Schwarten), 94, of Readington, NJ, passed away Sunday, December 25, 2011. Former wife of Dr. Frederick J. Knocke and beloved mother of Dorothy Maxfield of New Jersey, Alabama and Louisiana, Diane and her husband William Kohout of Wyckoff, New Jersey and Martha and her husband Anton Hoffarth of Tauffelen, Switzerland. Dear grandmother of Virginia Callahan, Debborah Kuschel, Donna Douglass, Niklas Schalku and Charity Schalkau. Great grandmother of Zoe Douglass.
Lazelle graduated from Columbia University School of Nursing specializing in orthopedic nursing and soon became the head nurse on the women’s surgical floor at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York City where she met her future husband, Dr. Frederick J. Knocke. She and Dr. Knocke were married shortly before World War II and together authored the book, “Orthopedic Nursing” in 1951.
The Knockes moved to Hobby Horse Hill Farm in Readington, NJ in 1953 where Lazelle became the President of the Public Health Association and established the Family Nursing Service, serving as its president of its first Board of Trustees.
Lazelle also pursued her passion and love for equestrian arts as a fox hunter, then riding through the levels of dressage to Grand Prix and competing internationally at the FEI levels earning the USDF Silver Medal in 1991, the USDF Mather’s Challenge Award in 1992 and together with her partner, Don Perignon, becoming the first member of the Dressage Foundation’s Century Club. Her contributions to the horse sport included founding the Eastern States Dressage Association, ESDA-currently known as the ESDCTA, hosting US Equestrian Team and US Pony Club training and events, helping found the United States Dressage Foundation, USDF, serving as First Vice-President, then as President from 1989-1993, officiating at numerous events in the US and Canada as USEF and FEI licensed judge, helping pioneer the USDF Instructor Certification Program and the USDF’s “L” Education Program for judge training, and was currently serving as Director Emeritus of the National Board of Director’s for The Dressage Foundation. Awards included USDF Region 1 “Contribution of the year” by The Chronicle of the Horse, the “S Braley Gray Award” for contributions to dressage and the USDF’s “Lifetime Achievement Award” for dedication to the USDF through lifetime volunteerism. She was also recognized as, “One of the Notable Women of Hunterdon County, New Jersey.”
A time of remembrance and celebration of her life is planned for Sunday, January 8, 2012 at 4:30 p.m. in the Readington Reformed Church, Readington Road, Readington, NJ under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be private and there are no calling hours.

Morris W. Henry
RIEGELSVILLE, PA - Morris W. Henry, age 50 years, of Riegelsville, PA, died on Saturday, December 24, 2011 while at work in Kingwood Township, NJ, where he was a Landscaper.
Local arrangements are by the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Final disposition is under the direction of the Gagan Funeral Home, Pine Bush, NY.

Charles A. Enea
RARITAN TOWNSHIP, NJ - Charles A. Enea, age 83 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died Thursday, December 29, 2011, in Hunterdon Care Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born April 11, 1928 in Croton, NJ, son of the late Andrew and Mary Forsythe Enea, he was a lifelong resident of Hunterdon County, NJ.
He was a retired self-employed excavator and formerly served in the New Jersey National Guard.
Surviving are three sons, Charles A. Enea of Fort Wayne, IN, John Enea of North Platte, NE and David Enea of Flemington, NJ; a sister, Julia Taylor of Flemington, NJ; four grandchildren, James Enea, Teresa Enea, Heather Mohan and Adam Enea; and one great granddaughter.
Memorial services will be held at a later date under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.

Marjorie Voorhees Frizzell
RINGOES, NJ - Marjorie Voorhees Frizzell, age 82 years, of Ringoes, NJ, died on Sunday, January 1, 2012 in the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Somerville, NJ, December 16, 1929, daughter of the late Frank O. Voorhees, Sr. and Edna Titus Voorhees, she was a lifelong Hunterdon County, NJ resident.
A 1948 graduate of Flemington High School, Flemington, NJ, Mrs. Frizzell was formerly a longtime waitress at the Flemington Coffee Shop, Flemington, NJ. She was a member of the Larison's Corner Presbyterian Church, Larison's Corner, NJ as well as a member of the Amwell Valley Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary and served as a 4-H Leader.
Her husband of fifty-eight years, John Howard Frizzell, died in February of 2011. She was also pre-deceased by a sister, Jean Dalrymple.
Surviving are two daughters, Terry Smith and her husband Robert of Hillsborough, NJ and Cindy Frizzell of Ewing, NJ; two grandchildren, Tammy and John; one great grandson, Johnny; a sister and brother-in-law, Gail and Howard Thompson of Ringoes, NJ; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Frank O. and Jerry Voorhees, Jr. of Seaside Park, NJ and Harry and Mary Voorhees of Dillsburg, PA; a brother-in-law, Elmer Dalrymple of Hampton, NH; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral Services will take place Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ, preceded by Visitation from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Amwell Ridge Cemetery, Larison's Corner, NJ.
Memorial contributions may be made to Hunterdon Hospice, 2100 Wescott Drive, Flemington, NJ 08822 or to the charity of one's choice.

Hilda L. Zachar
DELAWARE TOWNSHIP, NJ - Hilda L. Zachar, age 83 years, of Delaware Township, NJ, died Tuesday, January 3, 2012 in the Hunterdon Care Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Denmark, May 13, 1928, daughter of the late Severin and Karen Overgaard Tange, she had resided in Delaware Township from 1946-1960 when she moved to Washington, NJ and then returned to Delaware Township in 1985.
She was a former restaurant owner, operating Zachie's Restaurant, Washington, NJ for several years, retiring in 1985.
She was a charter member of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Flemington, NJ and was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Washington, NJ.
Her husband, Samuel Zachar, died in 1996.
Surviving are three daughters, Bonnie Smith of Austin, TX, Diane Langenbach of Summerville, SC, and Pat Franchino of Bridgewater, NJ; a son, Samuel Zachar of Delaware Township, NJ; and two grandchildren, Katherine and Elizabeth Franchino.
Funeral services will be held Friday, January 6, 2012 at 10:30 a.m. in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ followed by interment in Locust Grove Cemetery, Quakertown, NJ. Visitation will be Friday from 9:30-10:30 a.m. in the Funeral Home.

Irene Anna Hrubos Dietz
RARITAN TOWNSHIP, NJ - Irene Anna Hrubos Dietz, age 87 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Friday, January 13, 2012 at her home.
Born in Dunellen, NJ, October 25, 1924, daughter of the late Anton and Mary Hrubos, she was a lifelong area resident.
Retiring from Johanna Farms, Raritan Township, NJ, Mrs. Dietz was formerly a member of the St. Magdalen Rosary Altar Society and was also formerly active in the local PTA, at one time serving as President.
Her husband, Henry P. Dietz, Jr., died in 1984.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Willard Quinn of Ringoes, NJ; a son, Ronald Dietz of Raritan Township, NJ; two grandchildren, both of Mt. Laurel, NJ, Kevin and Allison Quinn; and a brother, John Hrubos of Farmville, VA.
Funeral Services will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ followed by internment in St. Magdalen Cemetery, North Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Calling hours will be Monday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. in the Funeral Home.

Rocco Joseph Palestina, Jr.
CLINTON TOWNSHIP, NJ - Rocco Joseph Palestina, Jr., age 55 years, of Clinton Township, NJ, died on Thursday, January 12, 2012 in the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Newark, NJ, January 31, 1956, son of Gloria Ruggerio Palestina of Nutley, NJ and the late Rocco Joseph Palestina, Sr., he had resided in Clinton Township for the past three years, having formerly lived in Denville, East Hanover and Nutley, NJ.
A graduate of the University of California at Fullerton with a degree in Communications, Rocco was currently a Claims Investigator with Plymouth Rock Insurance Co., Berkeley Heights, NJ, formerly known as Palisades Insurance Co. He had formerly been employed with Ohio Casualty and Liberty Mutual Insurance Co.
He was a Communicant of Immaculate Conception Church, Annandale, NJ and was very supportive of charity work, especially the St. John's Soup Kitchen in Newark, NJ.
An AVID New York Giants, New York Yankees and New York Rangers fan, Rocco's true passion was his family. The phrases of devoted father, loving husband, cherished son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend can not even begin to capture Rocco's true spirit of love and sense of humor.
Surviving, in addition to his mother, are his wife of seven years, Jill Damiano Palestina; his daughter, Julianna Maria Palestina; his son, Rocco Joseph Palestina III; his brother and sister-in-law, Michael Anthony and Daria Palestina of Mendham, NJ; his niece, Adrianna Palestina; his mother-in-law, Karen Damiano of Toms River, NJ; and many loving aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday at 11:00 a.m. in Immaculate Conception Church, 316 Old Allerton Road, Annandale, NJ under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Inurnment will be in Immaculate Conception Mausoleum, located on the Church grounds. Calling hours will be Sunday from 1:00-3:00 and 6:00-8:00 p.m. as well as Monday from 9:00-10:00 a.m. in the Funeral Home.

Olga Walen
KINGWOOD TOWNSHIP, NJ - Olga Walen, age 88 years, of Kingwood Township, NJ, died Friday January 13, 2012, at her home.
Born in New York City, NY, June 18, 1923, daughter of the late Michael and Anna Stasuk Opiela, she had resided in Kingwood Township, NJ for the last eighty-five years.
She was a homemaker and operated a sheep farm in Kingwood Township and was a Communicant of Our Lady of Victories Church, Baptistown, NJ.
Her husband Edward Walen, died in 2005.
Survivng are two sons, David M. Walen and Michael E. Walen both of Kingwood Township, NJ and a cousin, Olga Cooper of Lambertville, NJ.
A Memorial Mass will be held Wednesday at Noon in Our Lady of Victories Church, Route 519, Baptistown, NJ. Interment will be in St. Magdalen cemetery under the direction of Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. There will be no calling hours.
