UNION TOWNSHIP, NJ - Lela G. Bianchi, age 95 years, Union Township, Hunterdon County, NJ, died on Wednesday, January 18, 2012, in the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Twin Rocks, PA, August 23, 1916, daughter of the late Clyde and Hazel Adams, she had formerly resided in Garwood, NJ before moving to Union Township in 1988.
A Homemaker, she is survived by two sons, Ralph Bianchi of Ringoes, NJ and Robert Bianchi of South Plainfield, NJ; seven grandchildren; and eight great grandchildren.
Her husband, Emil Bianchi, died in 1995.
Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ followed by interment in Locust Grove Cemetery, Quakertown, NJ. Calling hours will be Friday from 7:00-9:00 p.m. in the Funeral Home.
Helen Rappel
ALEXANDRIA TOWNSHIP, NJ - Helen Rappel, age 83 years, died on Sunday, January 29, 2012, in Valley View Care Center, Alexandria Township, NJ.
Born in Newark, NJ, July 22, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Pauline Okun. She was a homemaker, and had resided in Linden, NJ all of her life.
She was pre-deceased by her husband, Leo, in 1992. She is survived by her three loving sons, Mitchell, Russ, and Douglas.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday at 2 PM in Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge, NJ, under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.

Charles Eugene Grom
RARITAN TOWNSHIP, NJ - Charles Eugene Grom, age 94 years, died on Saturday, January 28, 2012, in the Veterans Memorial Home, Menlo Park, NJ.
Born in Newark, NJ, October 3, 1917, he was the son of the late Charles and Victoria Yellen Grom. He had formerly resided in Union, NJ before retiring to Raritan Township, NJ.
He was a United States Army veteran of World War II. Mr. Grom was a member of the VFW Post, Union, NJ which he joined in Paris, France and American Legion Gibraltor Post. He was also active in the Knights of Colombus.
Mr. Grom was a retired accountant with Prudential Insurance, Newark, NJ, where he was employed for forty-seven years and was the President of the Athletic Association there.
He is survived by his wife of seventy years, Vivian Adeline Gress Grom; three sons: Charles Phillip Grom of Long Valley, NJ, Michael Edward Grom of Charlotte, NC (formerly of Lebanon, NJ), and Robert Anthony Grom of Kingwood Township, NJ; a daughter, Joan Lynda Williams of South Plainfield, NJ; eleven grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial
will be celebrated on Friday at 11 AM in St. Magdalen Church, 105 Mine Street, Flemington, NJ. Entombment will be in Immaculate Conception Mausoleum, Annandale, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8:30 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.

Maria A. Sayles
LA JOLLA, CA - Maria A. Sayles, of La Jolla, CA, died on Saturday, January 28, 2012 in California.
Maria Agripina Popescu Sayles was born 9/20/1918 in Craiova, Romania to Dumitru Popescu, head of the Romanian Orthodox church of their province, and Elena Staiculescu, a teacher who died when Maria was 3.
Maria, also known as Pina, graduated University of Bucharest before fleeing Communism after WWII. She arrived in New York's Ellis Island in 1950, and with minimal English was able to become couture director at Elizabeth Arden and in 1958 married
Philip A. Sayles Jr., who was a senior executive with Macy's corporation.
Maria and Philip had one daughter, Carina and later left New York for 20 years in Houston, TX where Maria was instrumental in the IIE (International Institute for Education) and in the development of both the Houston Ballet and the Alley Theater, and later for as many years in Santa Fe, New Mexico where Maria volunteered with local museums. Active in real estate, Maria acquired land in Montauk, NJ, farms in Flemington and in Rosemont, NJ as well as a cattle ranch in Colorado where she spent much time.
For the last years of her life, Maria lived in La Jolla, CA where she earned a position as one of the Daughters of the King of the Episcopal Church, and was dedicated to her involvement with the St. James of the Sea Episcopal Church.
She died of natural causes in La Jolla on January 28, 2012 at age 93. She is survived by her daughter Carina Sayles, partner in a NYC public relations firm, and two grandchildren, Wells and Olivia Hartman, to whom she was dedicated and who feel her loss deeply, as does her large circle of close friends to whom she was a spirited, fascinating and engaging presence.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 2 PM in Trinity Episcopal Chapel, Solebury, PA. Interment
will be in Rosemont Cemetery, Rosemont, NJ under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. There will be no calling hours.
Rose A. Grywalsky
BRIDGEWATER TOWNSHIP, NJ - Rose A. Grywalsky, age 96 years, formerly of Flemington, NJ, died on Wednesday, February 1, 2012, in Green Knoll Nursing Center, Bridgewater Township, NJ.
A lifelong resident of Flemington, she was born June 5, 1915, daughter of the late Andrew and Mary Dobrosky Grywalsky, and was formerly employed by Flemington Fur Company, then by Singer Corp., Finderne, NJ and then at Jamesway Dept. Store, Flemington, NJ.
A communicant of St. Magdalen Church, Flemington, NJ, she is survived by a sister, Helen Fiedler of Hackettstown, NJ; nieces and nephews, Vincent Fiedler, Jerome Fiedler, Thomas Fiedler, Timothy Fiedler, Jane Moser, Laura Moser, Judith Grywalsky and Michael Grywalsky; and a cousin, Mary Guerino.
Her brother, John Grywalsky, died in 2001.

Hans Bitterle
CLINTON TOWNSHIP, NJ - Hans Bitterle, age 83 years, of Clinton Township, NJ, died on Tuesday, January 31, 2012, at his residence.
Born in Stuttgart, Germany, September 8, 1928, he was the son of the late Karl and Friedl Hertlieb Bitterle.
He was the owner of Primusmold, Middlesex, NJ.
Surviving are his wife, Margarete Schweiker Bitterle, and a son and daughter-in-law, Daniel and Diane Bitterle.
A Memorial Service will be held on Saturday at 4 PM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment
will be private. Calling hours will be held on Saturday from 1-4 PM in the funeral home.
Vera Elizabeth Ball
FLEMINGTON, NJ - Vera Ball, age 86 years, of Flemington, NJ, died on Tuesday, January 31, 2012, in The Highlands Care One, Edison, NJ.
Born in North Branch, NJ, August 13, 1925, she was the daughter of the late Clifford and Edna Rittenhouse Hoffman.
She was a retired home health aide and had worked for the Hunterdon Healthcare System for over thirty-five years. She was a member of the Flemington Baptist Church and former member of the Clark Rescue Squad Auxiliary.
Surviving are a daughter, Darlene Campana of South Plainfield, NJ; a son, Edward Carroll of Robards, KY; a brother, Clifford "Les" Hoffman of Flemington, NJ; two sisters, Kathryn Hendrickson of Monroe, NJ, and Ruth Nugent of Effort, PA; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 9:30 AM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment
will be in Rosedale Cemetery, Linden, NJ. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 2-4 and 7-9 PM in the funeral home.
