DOROTHY M. VOGAN GILLEY, 83, of Little Silver died July 13 in Costa Rica. Born in County Cavan, Ireland, she previously lived in Eatontown. She was a retired licensed practical nurse for Stoffers Agency, Long Branch. She served as a U.S. Army flight nurse during World War II in the Queens Royal Air Force. She is survived by a son, Roy Gilley of Costa Rica; two daughters, Carolyn Neuhaus of Eatontown, and Nancy Nelson of Little Silver; three sisters, Meta Willson of Belfast, Ireland, Patsy Foy of Tempo, Ireland, and Irene Johns of Wayside; two brothers, Willie and Eric Vogan of County Cavan; and six grandchildren. Services were arranged by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown, with burial at Fair View Cemetery, Middletown.
HOWARD J. KINNALY, 54, of Middletown died July 22 at home. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he lived in Middletown for the past 25 years. He was a bond manager for Ernst & Co., N.Y., for 30 years. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam era, having attained the rank of sergeant. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth, as well as a member of the Veterans of Foreign War Post No. 2179, Port Monmouth, and the Knights of Columbus, Vince Lombardi Council. He was predeceased by a brother, Francis, in 1995. He is survived by his wife of 25 years, Nora Mary Kinnaly of Middletown; a son, Colin Kinnaly of Highlands; four brothers, Kevin Kinnaly of Keansburg, Eugene Kinnaly of Jacksonville, Fla., Brendan Kinnaly of Syracuse, and Raymond Kinnaly of Bayside, N.Y.; and a sister, Virginia Douglas of Austin, Texas. Services were under the direction of John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown, with a Mass at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, New Monmouth. Interment
was at National Cemetery, Calverton, Long Island, N.Y.
MARIE ANN DEMAIO CHERSEVANI, 54, of Middletown died July 20 at home. She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., and lived in Middletown for the past 22 years. She was a secretary for Planned Parenthood, Red Bank, for eight years before retiring in March. She was a communicant of St. Catherine’s Roman Catholic Church, Middletown. She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Anthony Chersevani Sr. of Middletown; two sons, Edward Chersevani of Linden, and Anthony Chersevani Jr. of Old Bridge; a daughter, Deborah Vollaro of Old Bridge; two brothers, Joseph DeMaio, and Frank DeMaio, both of Staten Island, N.Y.; and two grandchildren. THELMA FAYE ADAMITE SCHWEIZER, 90, of Red Bank, died July 20 at Avanti at Red Bank Nursing Home. Born in Keyport, she had lived most of her life in Middletown. She was a homemaker. She was predeceased by her husband, Frederick Carl Schweizer, in 1958. She is survived by two daughters, Donna Pearsall of Chesapeake, Va., and Doris A. Farrell of Lancaster, Pa.; a brother, Elden Adamite of Maggie Valley, N.C.; and three grandsons. Services were arranged by John F. Pfleger Funeral Home, Middletown.
KENNETH L. HAHN SR., 87, of Fair Haven, died Oct. 9 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Columbus, Neb., he was raised in Burwell, Neb., and lived in Fair Haven the past 50 years. He worked in administration for the U.S. Postal Service, Shrewsbury, for 15 years. He spent his career in the U.S. Army, and received the Purple Heart while serving in the Pacific during World War II. He also served with the Signal Corps at Fort Monmouth, and with the European Occupation Forces in Germany. He was predeceased by his wife, Lola A. Appleby Hahn in 1980; and his parents, Frederick and Flora Long Hahn. He is survived by three sons, Kenneth L. Hahn of Califon, Robert W. Herndon of Little Silver and Dennis R. Hahn of Hollis, N.H.; a daughter, Doris Dean of Shrewsbury; 11 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. Services were arranged by John E. Day Funeral Home, Red Bank. Interment

KATHLEEN "KITTY" FUNDERBURK EMMONS, 87, of Fair Haven died Nov. 10 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Cheraw, S.C., she lived in Fair Haven until 1996 when she retired to Cheraw. She was a nurse at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank, for 42 years, and was in charge of the emergency room for 15 years before retiring in 1978. She was a lifetime member of the Fair Haven Ladies Auxiliary, as well as a Gold Star Mother. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Emmons, in 1969; a son, William "Billy" Emmons; and her parents, Chester and Etta Laney Funderburk. She is survived by her son, Edward "Buddy" T. Emmons of Fair Haven; a daughter, Bonnie Tilly of Fair Haven; her brother, Joseph Funderburk of Raleigh, N.C.; her sister, Anne Louise Burns of Red Bank; three grandchildren, Jeffrey, Jonathan and Jason Tilly; and three great-grandchildren, Shannon, Gunnar and Ryan Tilly. PATRICIA BERNSTEIN, 60, of Sea Bright died Nov. 7 at home. Born in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada, she previously resided in Howell and Westfield before moving to Sea Bright six years ago. She was a real estate agent for Burgdorff Realtors, Middletown, where she achieved "Million Dollar Club" status. Prior to that, she was employed with the Bank of America, California, as well as owner of Le Petit Salon, Westfield. She was a member of the Shrewsbury Power Squadron boating association. She was predeceased by her husband, Lawrence H. Bernstein, in July; a son, Scott Stevens, in 1987; and her father, Mozart Vallee. She is survived by her daughter, Karolyn Wray of Sea Bright; a son and daughter-in-law, Victor and Chris Stevens of Garwood; a stepdaughter, Sheree Volak of Lorain, Ohio; a stepson, Michael Bernstein of Kendrick, Idaho; her mother, Geraldine Perault Vallee; and two sisters, Charlotte and Karo Vallee, all of Quebec; three grandchildren; and four step-grandchildren. GEORGE E. SPERRY, 88, of Keansburg died Nov. 9 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, he lived in Massapequa Park, Long Island, N.Y., prior to moving to Keansburg. He was a traffic manager for the National Distillers & Chemical Corp., New York City, for 25 years before retiring in 1975. He was predeceased by his parents, Marcello and Caterina Speronello. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Betty Miller Sperry of Keansburg; two sons, Daniel Sperry of Rockaway and George M. Sperry of Wilmington, N.C.; a daughter, Lorraine Asman of Little Silver; a sister, Elsie Keating of Fort Lee; three granddaughters, Jamie Hinnant, Jennie and Jodie Sperry; and a grandson, William Asman IV. MARY LEWIS, 93, of Fair Haven died Nov. 19 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she previously lived in Red Bank before moving to Fair Haven three years ago. She was a seamstress for various garment factories in the New York/New Jersey area, and a member of the International Ladies Garment Workers Union (ILGWU). She was predeceased by her husband, John R. Lewis, in 1966. She is survived by her son, John R. Lewis Jr. of Freehold; her daughter, Linda Bishop of Florida; four grandsons, Ryan Bishop, Kenneth Bishop, John R. Lewis III and Albert Lewis; two granddaughters, Elizabeth DeLeon and Sandra Lewis; and six great-grandchildren. Services were arranged by John E. RONALD W. ENS, 67, of the Lincroft section of Middletown, died Nov. 24 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Born in Newark, he resided in Lincroft the past 32 years. He and his wife owned and operated the Ocean Park Inn, Ocean Grove, the past 12 years. Prior to that, he was a kitchen designer and salesman for Sears Roebuck and Co., Middletown, for 20 years before retiring, and an automobile salesman for several years for Saturn. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was a communicant of St. Leo the Great Roman Catholic Church, Lincroft. He was a Boy Scout leader for many years with Troop 110, Lincroft. He was also a member of the Ocean Grove Chamber of Commerce. He was predeceased by his parents, Oscar W. and Matilda B. Pfeifer Ens. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Theresa R. Rufolo Ens of Lincroft; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Ronald W. and Carrie Ens Jr. of the Navesink section of Middletown, Robert P. and Eloise Ens of Ocean Township, Thomas M. and Melissa Ens of Tinton Falls, and Richard S.
