William Wittenberg

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, NJ - William Wittenberg, age 60 years, of Clinton Township, NJ died January 29, 2013 at his home.

Born in Somerville, NJ, April 7, 1952 son of Gertrude Delany Wittenberg and the late Henry Wittenberg, he had resided in Clinton Township for one year before moving from Portland, Oregon.

A graduate from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ, he majored in communications and worked for Wells Fargo, NJ.

Surviving in addition to his mother is a brother Henry Wittenberg, Jr. of Edgewater Park, NJ and a sister Nancy Wittenberg of Palmyra, NJ.

Arrangements and interment are private under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.

Joseph Tinley

HACKETTSTOWN - Joseph Tinley, age 88 years, formerly of Flemington, NJ, died Monday, February 4, 2013, at the home of his daughter in Hackettstown, NJ.

Born in Hoboken, NJ, December 23, 1924, son of the late John and Minnie Rittmann Tinley, he had formerly resided in Hoboken, NJ and had resided in the Flemington area since 1963.

An employee of Thomas J. Lipton, Inc., he was employed there for forty-two years until retiring.

A US Army veteran of World War 2, he served in the Pacific Theater.

He was a member of Flemington VFW Post #7856 and of Flemington Elks Lodge #1928.

His wife, Frances Curley Tinley, died in 1986. He was also pre-deceased by a brother, John Tinley.

Surviving are a daughter, Patricia Welch of Hackettstown, NJ; two sons, John Tinley of Flemington, NJ and Joseph J. Tinley of Lake Placid, FL; four grandchildren; two step-grandchildren and one great grandchild.

A Mass of Chrisitan Burial will be held Thursday, February 7, 2013, at 9:30AM in St.Elizabeth Ann Seton Church, Summer Road, Three Bridges, NJ. Interment will be in Prospect Hill Cemetery, Flemington, NJ. Calling hours will be Wednesday 2:00-4:00PM and 7:00-9:00PM at the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude's Childrens Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Mary Ellen Hartwick

CLINTON TOWNSHIP, NJ - Mary Ellen Hartwick, age 78 years, of Clinton Township, NJ, died on Thursday, February 7, 2013, in the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.

Born in Clinton Township, NJ, July 16, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Albert Brian and Gladys May Sheets Potts and had resided in Clinton Township all her life.

Mary Ellen was a longtime employee of the New Jersey Telephone Company (now Centruy Link), Clinton, NJ.

A sister, Marjorie J. Potts, died in 2009 and a grandson, Jacob Tyler Hartwick, died in 2007.

Surviving are two sons, Andrew Hartwick of Oxford, NJ, and Joseph Hartwick of Saylorsburg, PA.; a brother, Floyd Potts of Standish, ME.; two grandchildren, Keylayne Zappulla and Beverly Canite, and a great grandchild, Lillian Zappulla.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 12, 2013, at 11:00 AM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment will be in Union Cemetery, Clinton, NJ. Calling hours will be Tuesday 10:00-11:00 AM. Memorial contributions may be made to Clinton First Aid and Rescue Squad, 48 Old Highway 22, Clinton, NJ 08809.

Elizabeth C. Giesler

WARMINSTER, PA - Elizabeth C. Giesler, age 97 years, of Renaissance Gardens, Warminster, PA, died Monday, February 11, 2013, there.

Born in Schuylkill County, PA, October 5, 1915, daughter of the late Joseph and Elizabeth Merkoski Pakozdi, she had formerly resided in Branchburg Township, NJ, for several years before moving to Renaissance Gardens four years ago.

She was a retired executive secretary for Union Carbide, Bound Brook, NJ.

Her husband, Edward Giesler, died in 1992 and a sister, Rose Kling, died in 2011.

Surviving are two daughters, Judith Iorio of Ottsville, PA. and Roberta Parker of Banning, CA; four grandchildren and two great grandchildren.

Interment will be private in Newell Cemetery, Stanton, NJ, under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. A memorial services will be held at a day and time to be announced. Memorial contributions may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Ann Marie Mallon

RARITAN TOWNSHIP, NJ - Ann Marie Mallon, age 90 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Friday, February 8, 2013, in Independence Manor, Raritan Township, NJ.

Born in Yonkers, NY, December 14, 1922, she was the daughter of the late John and Helen Clancy Mallon.

She was a longtime employee of AT&T; in New York City and then Basking Ridge, NJ.

She is survived by a daughter, Joann Garzo.

Funeral services and interment will be private under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.

Mary Ellen Townsend

PENNINGTON, NJ - Mary Ellen Townsend, age 93 years, of Pennington, NJ, died Friday, February 8, 2013, at Brandywine Assisted Living, Pennington, where she had resided three years.

Born in Summersville, West Virginia, February 2, 1920, daughter of the late Asa and Margaret Wiseman Stewart, she had formerly resided in Whitehall, PA., and also in Columbus, Ohio.

She was formerly an administrative assistant at Ohio State University for twenty years.

Her husband, John A. Townsend, died in 1998 and a daughter, Mollie Hardman, died in 2009.

Surviving are a son, Steven Townsend of Delaware Township, NJ; a sister Jean Downey of Columbus, OH.; and three grandchildren, Gregory Townsend, Rebecca Townsend and Adam Hardman.

Arrangements and interment will be private under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.

Caroline Pliskin

RARITAN TOWNSHIP, NJ - Caroline Pliskin, age 89 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at her home.

Born in Stamford, CT, June 2, 1923, daughter of the late George and Angelina Skopetis Markutsis, she had resided in Raritan Township for the past five years, having formerly lived in White Plains, NY and Boca Raton, FL.
