RARITAN TOWNSHIP, NJ - Julia L. Johnson, age 92 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, died Sunday, February 1, 2015, in Hunterdon Care Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Sand Brook, NJ, February 13, 1922, daughter of the late Howard and Violet Housel Johnson, she had formerly resided in Delaware Township for many years and had resided in Hopewell, NJ for several years. Julia had resided in Raritan Township for two years.
Julia worked on the family farm in Delaware Township for several years and was a member of the Sergeantsville United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a sister, Mary Ringer of Ringoes, NJ; a brother, Grover Johnson of Delaware Township, NJ; several nieces and nephews; and several great nieces and great nephews.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 5, 2015, at 11:00 AM in the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ. Interment

Catherine L. Fiorillo
FLEMINGTON, NJ - Catherine L. Fiorillo, age 83 years, of Flemington, NJ, died Tuesday, February 3, 2015, in Foothill Acres Nursing Center, Hillsborough Township, NJ.
Born in New Haven, CT., February 1, 1932, she had resided in Flemington nine years and had formerly resided in Bel Air, MD, Hightstown, NJ, Telford, PA., and Quakertown, PA.
A homemaker, she is survived by two daughters, Maria Bartholomew of Flemington, NJ, and Catherine McDonald of Fort Collins, CO.; two sons, Rich Fiorillo of Skillman, NJ and Ray Fiorillo of Lakewood, CO.; two brothers, Tom Cheesman and John Cheesman, both of New Haven, CT.; six grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was pre-deceased by her sister, Lillian Cheesman.
Arrangements are private under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 main Street, Flemington, NJ.
Rev. Raul H. Mattei
TITUSVILLE, NJ - The Rev. Raul Herminio Mattei died February 5, 2015 while in hospice care in Titusville, N.J. He was 92.
Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, he attended divinity school at the University of the South, Sewanee, Tenn., receiving his B.A., B.D., S.T.M., and M.Div. degrees.
For 11 years, he was the rector of St. Michael’s Episcopal Church in Trenton, N.J. While there, he founded the St. Michael’s Church Hispanic Seniors Center, worked with the Old Trenton Neighborhood Development Corporation, served on the board of Mercer Street Friends Center, and ministered with Trenton Ecumenical Area Mission.
He previously served as rector of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in Corinth, Miss.; St. Mary’s, Vicksburg, Miss.; and Christ Church, Vicksburg, Miss., St. Alban’s Church in Bovina, Miss., and at Iglesia San Marcos in Ponce, Puerto Rico. He also was a teacher at All Saints Episcopal School in Vicksburg, Miss.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Antonia Castillo Mattei of Trenton, N.J.; his father, Gerónimo Mattei Cintrón of Ponce, Puerto Rico; his mother, Carmen Sanchez Mattei and his sister, Cruz Mattei, both of Denton, Texas.
He is survived by his children, Fr. Cornelius (Raul) Mattei of East Setauket, N.Y., Peter Mattei of El Cajon, Calif.; Carmen Greenlee of Brunswick, Maine; Mike Mattei of Titusville, N.J., Dr. C. Antonia Mattei of Flemington, N.J. and Al Mattei of Trenton, N.J.; his sister-in-law, Nancy Castillo of Paradise, Calif., and his children-in law Linda Mattei of Titusville, N.J. and David White of Flemington, N.J. He also is survived by his beloved grandchildren, Alexander Greenlee of Portland, Maine; David White of Flemington, N.J., Maria White of Flemington, N.J. Barry Foster Mattei of Titusville, N.J. and Ana White of Flemington, N.J.; and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
A Memorial Mass will be held at Trinity Cathedral, 801 W. State Street, Trenton, NJ, on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 10 AM. Interment
will be private under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, Flemington, N.J. There are no calling hours. Friends and family are invited to a repast in the church following the service.
Bob A. Creech
DELAWARE TOWNSHIP, NJ - Bob A. Creech, age 80 years, of Delaware Township, NJ, died Sunday, February 8, 2015, at his home.
Born in Mineola, Texas, October 10, 1934, son of the late Andrew and Ada Creech, he had resided in Hunterdon County for thirty years. Bob had formerly resided in Glendora, CA.
He was a graduate of Texas A & M University and did graduate work at the University of Oklahoma.
Employed by Burroughs Corp (later Unisys Corp.) for thirty-five years, working in computer development and computer programming there.
Bob was a communicant of the Church of St. Ann, Lawrenceville, NJ, and a volunteer for Hunterdon Hospice. He was also a great family man who enjoyed visiting his family and friends and delighted in his grandchildren. In retirement, he spent his days helping others anonymously one day at a time and one person at a time.
Surviving are his wife of fourteen years, Patricia O'Shea Creech; a son, Michael Paul Creech and his wife, Anita, of Mineola, TX.; a daughter, Mary Elizabeth Bowerman and her husband, Paul, of Altadena, CA.; a step-daughter, Elizabeth Schroeher and her husband, Brian, of Newtown, PA.; a step-son, Patrick Umyn and his wife, Kristen of Pequannock, NJ; six grandchildren, Michael, Drew, Raul, James, Robert and Cindy; three step-grandchildren, Violet, Maxwell, Jameson; nine great grandchildren, and his former wife, Peggy Carlile.
A Funeral Mass will be held Friday at 10:30 AM in the Church of St. Ann, 1253 Lawrenceville Road, Lawrenceville, NJ. Interment

Frank Osmun
BOYNTON BEACH, FL - FRANK “OZ” OSMUN, Age 84 of Boynton Beach, FL and Killington, VT (formerly of Flemington, NJ) went to join his son, Michael in Eternal Life on January 26, 2015.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy and his son, David and daughter-in-law, Susy and granddaughter, Dakota.
Oz was born on January 15, 1931. He was a 1949 graduate of Hackettstown High School, Hackettstown, NJ, University of VT and had a Master’s Degree from St. Michael’s College, Winnoski, VT and post Masters in Outdoor Education.
Oz proudly served in the US Army, was discharged as a 1st Lieutenant and served in the Reserves for ten years.
He was a History, Outdoor education teacher and guidance counselor at Hunterdon Central High School, Flemington, NJ. He developed one of the first Outdoor Education courses in the state and was an adjunct professor at Fairleigh Dickenson University. He also was an instructor at NOLS and Outward Bound. Oz coached football, wrestling and track at HCHS. Track introduced him to the marathon distance run and he ran 13 marathons, including The Boston Marathon twice.
In his retirement he was an avid Nature photographer and bore the burden of Parkinsons Disease for fourteen years. In lieu of flowers, the family is establishing the Frank Osmun Scholarship Fund at Hunterdon Central.
A private graveside service will be held Saturday, May 30, 2015 followed by a Celebration of Life at the Flemington Elks at 2-5 PM under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.

John H. Merriman
RARITAN TOWNSHIP, NJ - John H. Merriman, age 73 years, of Raritan Township, NJ, formerly of Medford, NJ, died on Tuesday, February 10, 2015 in the Hunterdon Medical Center, Raritan Township, NJ.
Born in Minneapolis, MN, August 26, 1941, he was the son of the late John and Alberta Miller Merriman.
He was a retired computer scientist and a United States Navy veteran.
Surviving are his daughter, Jennifer Merriman, of East Amwell Township, NJ; his son, Edward Merriman, of Medford, NJ; his brothers, Bill and Steve Merriman; and four grandchildren.
Funeral services and interment will be private under the direction of the Holcombe-Fisher Funeral Home, 147 Main Street, Flemington, NJ.
John R. Ansman
EASTON, PA - John R. Ansman, age 83 years, of Easton, PA, died Wednesday, February 11, 2015, in Easton Hospital, Easton, PA.
Born in Altoona, PA., August 26, 1931, son of the late John A. and Lavinia Downing Ansman, he had resided in Flemington, NJ, fifty-four years before moving to Easton PA, eight years ago.
John was a graduate of Lock Haven University and received his Masters Degree in Education from Penn State University.
An educator, he was principal of Robert Hunter School of the Flemington-Raritan School System and later was Supt. of Schools for the Wanaque School System, Passaic County, NJ.
He was a US Army veteran of the Korean War and was a Bronze Star recipient.
Surviving are his wife of sixty-two years, Barbara Shroyer Ansman; two daughters, Julie Ansman of Flemington, NJ and Jennifer Paieda of Easton, PA; a son, J. Brooke Ansman of Phillipsburg, NJ; sister Kay Deffibaugh of Altoona, PA; four grandchildren, Sam and Elena Ansman of Phillipsburg, NJ, Olivia Spildooren of Flemington, NJ, and Ava Paieda of Easton, PA.; and three nieces, Angel Deffibaugh and Kristina Hoyne of Altoona, PA, and Jill Gleason of State College, PA.
