Arleen Pierce Vavrek
Point Pleasant resident Arleen Pierce Vavrek died Wednesday, Aug. 6, in New York University Hospital, New York City.
She was 41 years old.
She was born in Point Pleasant and lived here all of her life.
Mrs. Vavrek was a master service technician for N.J. Natural Gas Company in Wall/Lakewood for 18 years.
She was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Point Pleasant Beach.
She was predeceased by her grandparents, Karl and Philomena Drzymala and James and Mary Gray; and her aunt, Catherine Johnstone.
She is survived by her husband, James Vavrek; her parents, Karl and Janet Drzymala, of Cape Coral, Fla.; two sons, Brett and Jess Pierce, both at home; two nieces, Fallan and Savanah Drzymala, with whom she lived; three brothers, Allen Drzymala, of New Jersey, James and his wife, Annisa, of Florida, and Kris of New Jersey; and her mother-in-law, Dolores Vavrek, of Long Branch. She is also survived by her aunt and uncle, David and Mary Gray, of Point Pleasant; her uncle, Robert Johnstone, of Point Pleasant; her aunt and uncle, Margaret and Bradley Peterson, of Parsippany; her godchildren, Colby and Lynden Drzymala; her godmother, Gloria Reitmeyer, of Succasunna; and her great-aunt, Maria Russo, of Florida.
The family wishes to thank St. Gregory’s Food Pantry and St. Mary’s by the Sea Episcopal Church, Point Pleasant Beach.
Colonial Funeral Home, Brick, was in charge of arrangements.

Claire Rimassa
Manasquan resident Claire Rimassa, whose son lives in Point Pleasant, died on Thursday, Aug. 7 in her home.
She was 87 years old.
Mrs. Rimassa was born in Bronx, N.Y., and has resided in Manasquan for 42 years. Claire was a homemaker, a loving wife and mother. She was a member of St. Denis Catholic Church, Manasquan.
Surviving are her husband of 61 years, Joseph; three sons and their wives, Paul S. and Mary, of Hamilton Square, Peter T. and Anna Marie, of Point Pleasant, and John F. and Song Hey, of Staten Island; a brother and his wife, Peter and Gloria Cagnacci, of Pennsylvania; and three grandchildren, Elizabeth, Sara and Tae Hann.
A graveside funeral service was held at St. Catharine’s Cemetery, Wall.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Meridian Hospice, 615 Hope Road, Bldg. 4, Eatontown, 07724.
Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan, was in charge of the arrangements.
Paul Beaumont Confrey
Toms River resident Paul Beaumont Confrey, whose son lives in Spring Lake Heights, died Monday Aug. 11, 2008 in Community Medical Center, Toms River.
He was 75 years old.
Paul had been employed as an advertising sales representative for Hobby Publications, Manalapan and prior to this he had been employed for Cosmopolitan and Women’s Day magazines in New York City.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran serving aboard the escort Carrier USS Palau.
He was born in New York City and had lived in Matawan for 30 years before moving to Toms River 10 years ago. He was also a graduate of Seton Hall University receiving his bachelor of arts degree.
He was the son of the famous composer and songwriter “Zez” Confrey and his wife, Wilhemina Matthes Confrey.
Surviving is his devoted wife of 42 years, Dale DiRocco Confrey; his beloved children, Matthew and his wife, Priscilla Confrey, of Spring Lake Heights and Jennifer Confrey, of Clifton; a brother, Thomas Confrey, of Freehold; and his dear granddaughter, Olivia Confrey.
A Mass of Christian Burial
will take place on Thursday at 11 a.m. at St. Catharine’s Roman Catholic Church, Spring Lake. Burial
will be in St. Mary’s cemetery Lakewood. The O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the National Alliance for the Mentally Ill, [NAMI] New Jersey, 1562 US Highway 130, North Brunswick, 08902-3004 in his memory.
Adelina G. Lingenfelter
Howell resident Adelina G. Lingenfelter, formerly of Manasquan, died on Monday, Aug. 11, in her home, after a courageous battle with leukemia.
She was 62 years old.
Lina was born in Mileto, Italy and raised in Manasquan and lived there before moving to Howell 10 years ago.
She was a graduate of Manasquan High School and a member of St. Denis Catholic Church.
Lina was employed in her family business, Maria’s Restaurant, Manasquan for many years. She was a loving wife, mother and sister.
She was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Antonuzza Bertucci.
Surviving are her husband, Anthony Lingenfelter Sr.; her son, Anthony Lingenfelter Jr., of Howell; her daughter, Danielle Lingenfelter, of Manasquan; and her sisters and brother, Catherine Garruzzo, of Brielle, Maria Bertucci, of Millstone, Angela Rabbeni, Aida Incolla, Susan Bertucci and Frank Bertucci, all of Manasquan.
A Funeral Mass will be offered at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at St. Margaret’s Church, Ludlow and Third avenues, Spring Lake. Interment
will follow in St. Catharine’s Cemetery, Wall. The Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan is in charge of arrangements.
James Vincent Scott
Spring Lake Heights resident James Vincent Scott died on Tuesday, Aug. 5 in Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.
He was 79 years old.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he lived on Long Island and in Queens and Manhattan, coming to Spring Lake Heights 16 years ago.
Mr. Scott was employed as a buyer for General Motors Corporation in New York City and previously in Detroit, before retiring. He was an avid golfer and was a member of Manasquan Elks Lodge No. 2534. A communicant of St. Catharine’s Church in Spring Lake, he was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 241 in New York City.
He was predeceased by his sister, Agnes Camardella.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Joan Marie Buckley Scott; his son, Terence James Scott and wife Paula, of North Wales, Pa.; his grandchildren, Catherine, Patricia and Sean; and his brother, Robert Scott and his wife Dorothy, of Lynbrook, N.Y.
Committal was private.
Arrangements were under the direction of O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall.
Anne Michalsky
Spring Lake Heights resident Anne Michalsky died on Monday, Aug. 4 in Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.
She was 85 years old.
Born and raised in Jersey City, she came to Spring Lake Heights in 1971. Mrs. Michalsky was a devoted wife and loving mother and grandmother.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Stephen Michalsky Sr.
She is survived by her son, Stephen Michalsky; her daughter, Francine Przybylowski; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A graveside service was held at St. Catharine’s Cemetery, Wall.
Arrangements were under the direction of O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall.
Claire Rimassa
Manasquan resident Claire Rimassa died on Thursday, Aug. 7 in her home.
She was 87 years old.

Margaret Carolyn Taylor [nee Peluso]
Sea Bright resident Margaret Carolyn Taylor [nee Peluso], whose family resides in Belmar, died peacefully in her home Sunday Aug. 10 with her family by her side.
She was 70 years old.
She was born in Neptune and raised in Asbury Park. Margaret attended Mount Carmel School and graduated from Asbury Park High School. She also attended Monmouth University and studied acting under Stella Ader.
Margaret traveled to England in 1964 where she met and married
Michael J. Taylor in 1965. They returned to the U.S. and settled in the Shore area where they raised two children, Michael and Miranda.
Margaret retired from Fort Monmouth in 2005 where she was an administrative assist in the Department of Acquisitions. Upon her retirement she settled in Sea Bright.
Margaret traveled extensively in these last years. Margaret was a gifted actress and director who worked with Monmouth Players, Pinetree Players and was co-founder of the Harlequin Players. She was a talented artist, painting portraits and abstracts, and working in photography.
Margaret was predeceased by her parents, Salvatore and Columbia Peluso.
Margaret is survived by her husband, Michael J. Taylor; a son and his wife, Michael E and Grace Scarle-Taylor; and a daughter, Miranda Taylor and her fiancé, Jeffrey Schroeck; and a brother Anthony Peluso.
A memorial service will be held at Calvary Baptist Church, Belmar on Friday at 11 am. Interment
will be private.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to Visiting Nurse Association of Central Jersey Hospice Program; Calvary Baptist Church of Belmar; or a charity of the donor’s choice.
