Robert Loder Jr.
Brielle resident Robert A. Loder Jr., who lived most of his life in Westfield, died on July 25 after a brief but courageous fight with cancer.
He was 75 years old.
Mr. Loder and his wife, Shirley, operated their art gallery, Gull Studios in Bay Head, for 20 years. Born in East Orange, Mr. Loder was raised in Westfield and attended Holy Trinity School. He was a 1950 graduate of St. Benedict’s Prep in Newark. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, where he was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. In 1956 he married
Shirley Morrell of New Hope, Pa.
Mr. Loder served as PR Director of Perth Amboy General Hospital until he was drafted into the Army in 1956. Upon discharge, Mr. Loder joined the Perth Amboy Evening News as a general assignment reporter, subsequently covering the Middlesex County Courthouse and NJ Legislature, eventually becoming editorial page editor and political columnist.
In 1965, Mr. Loder joined Luery, Marks & Strasser, a North Brunswick advertising agency. He served as administrative assistant to the New Jersey State Senate Minority Leader, and also as PR consultant with the New Jersey State Council on the Arts. In 1971, Mr. Loder was named public relations director of the John F. Kennedy Community Hospital in Edison, later becoming vice president for public relations and marketing. In 1989, he joined Kimball Medical Center in Lakewood in the same capacity. He retired from Kimball Medical Center in 1995 and devoted his time to painting and his gallery in Bay Head.
During his time in Westfield, Mr. Loder became active in Democratic Party politics. He fulfilled several roles, including chairman of the Westfield Democratic Committee. He was a member of the Union County Democratic Committee and was elected to two terms on the Democratic State Committee. Mr. Loder was a member of the Manasquan River Group of Artists, the Westfield Art Association, the Ocean County Artists Guild and the New Jersey Chapter of the American Artists Professional League.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by four children, Robert III., of Far Hills, and former daughter-in-law Pamela, Kathryn Loder-Murphy and son-in-law Kerry Murphy, of Shrewsbury, Gregory and daughter-in-law Alison, of Middletown, and Christopher and daughter-in-law Elizabeth, of Westfield; along with 10 grandchildren, Amanda, Kaitlyn, Kelsey, Meghan, Kylie, Conner, Catherine, Brendan, Claire and Grace, and pre-deceased by Erin.

Margaret Helmka
Wall Township resident Margaret Ann Helmka died on July 25 at her daughter’s home in Frederick, Md.
She was 79 years old.
She was the wife of the late Frank Helmka Sr. who passed on April 6, 1984.
Born in Belmar on Sept. 25, 1928, she was the daughter of the late Samuel and Helen White. Peggy graduated from Manasquan High School and resided in Wall Township for more than 50 years. She worked for Wall Township for many years, retiring from the Wall Township Water Department in 1994. Peggy later moved to Frederick to live with her daughter.
She is survived by two sons, Frank, Jr. and Ron, and her daughter, Carol.
Services were private.

Madeline Inguagiato
Wall resident Madeline Rubino Inguagiato died on Tuesday, July 22 at Waterford Glen Assisted Living, in Wall.
She was 93 years old.
Born in Newark, she lived in Short Hills for 50 years, coming to Wall two years ago. Mrs. Inguagiato, was employed as a teacher with the Newark School System, and was a graduate of Upsala College in East Orange. She continued to serve as a substitute teacher for many years and also worked as a secretary for Rubino Leather Co. in Newark. An avid golfer, she was a member of Brooklake Country Club, and was also a member of UNICO.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, John Inguagiato and her brothers, Dr. Nicholas, Frank and Joseph Rubino.
She is survived by her brother, Michael Rubino; her niece Carolyn; her nephew, Michael and his wife, Sally, and their son, Christopher; her nephew, John and his wife, Maureen and their children, Michael and Catie; and five other nieces.
Entombment was held at Holy Cross cemetery Chapel Mausoleum, North Arlington. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

Catherine O’Grady
Loch Arbour resident Catherine R. O’Grady died peacefully on Thursday, July 25 at Manor by the Sea, in Ocean Grove, after a 16 year battle with Parkinson’s Disease. She leaves behind many loved ones, including family in Belmar.
She was 83 years old.
Born in Newark, she was raised in Elizabeth. As a child, she spent her summers with her grandmother, Catherine O’Brien, in their family home in Loch Arbour. Later she would reside full time in Loch Arbour, which is now home to her daughter and family. She was a graduate of Baton High School and Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School.
Mrs. O’Grady retired from the federal government, serving as an executive secretary in the prestigious Joint Stars Division.
She was predeceased by her husband, James Vincent O’Grady; and her parents, Walter and Eleanor Stevens Raleigh.
Surviving are two daughters, Mary Ellen Harvey and her husband, Patrick, of Loch Arbour, and Lori Garley, of Belmar; two brothers, Walter James Raleigh, of Manhattan, and Tom Raleigh, of Cochecton, N.Y.; and three grandchildren, Mary Catherine, Patrick and Elizabeth Harvey.
Interment was held at St. Catharine’s Cemetery, Wall.

Lulu Borab
Spring Lake resident Lulu Borab died peacefully on July 22 at home after a lengthy illness.
She was 86 years old.
Lulu was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. and moved to Spring Lake in 1947. Lulu loved life, and she has a gift of brightening others’ lives with kind words and a smile. She loved her family, friends, golf, tennis, playing bridge and traveling with her sisters.
Lulu was predeceased by her husband, George; her parents, Adeeba and Louis; her brothers, Edmund and Emil; and her sister, Emily.
Lulu is survived by her sister, Grace, of Brooklyn; her children, Barbara, Kae and her husband Rich, Connie, George and his wife Mary, Jeff and his wife Kim; her grandchildren, Zachary and Alivia; her step-grandchildren, Alexis and Christopher; and many nieces, nephews, friends and her loving caregivers, most especially Giuli and Mary.
A memorial service is planned for Sunday Aug. 3, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Highway 35, Wall.

George A. Kogan
Wall Township resident George A. Kogan died on Wednesday, July 23 at his home.
He was 100 years old.
George was born in Passaic and lived there and in Towaco before retiring to Wall Township in 1970. George retired as a truck driver from the A&P Supermarket, in Clifton, after 40 years. He was also a carpenter by trade and built several homes and many woodworking projects. He was a communicant of St. Denis Catholic Church, in Manasquan.
He was predeceased by his son-in-law, Lucian Alu. Surviving are his wife of 73 years, Lottie Ciekinski; three daughters, Joyce Alu, of Westwood, Judith and her husband, Richard Livellara, of Danby, Vt., and Linda and her husband, Robert Dey, of Manasquan; a sister, Rose Kogut, of Clifton; six grandchildren, Jennifer Deuries, Sandra Sayer, Danielle Pajala, Nina Livellara, Nicole Dey, and Jessica Dey; and six great-grandchildren, James, William, Ellen, Dana, Sarah and Kayla.

Edith Rand
Brick resident Edith Josephine Kavanagh Rand, died peacefully on Friday, July 25. She entered the loving arms of her Heavenly Father while surrounded by her loving family. She leaves behind many loved ones, including family in Manasquan.
She was 71 years old.
Edith was born and raised in Rahway. She was the daughter of Jack and Josephine Kavanagh, whom she dearly loved. Jack and “Feeney” immigrated to this country from Buncrana and Burnfoot, County Donegal, Ireland. Edith was married
to Charles H. Rand with whom she had four children. She was a woman of great faith who devoted her life to raising and loving her children.
She was predeceased by her parents, Jack and Josephine Kavanagh.
Surviving are her son, Charles Rand, Manasquan, and his wife, Susan; her daughter, Tara Robinson, Manasquan, and her husband, Christopher; her son, James Rand, Jackson; her son Mitchell Rand, Guilford, Conn., and his wife, Carole; her sister, Anna Cosgrove and her husband, Ed; her brother, Jack Kavanagh and his wife, Theresa; her sister, Patricia and her husband, Ron; Charles Rand; and 10 loving grandchildren.

Peter W. Baubles Jr.
Wall resident Peter W. Baubles Jr. died on June 6 in Stafford County, Va.
He was 64 years old.
Peter was a graduate of Livingston High School in 1961, and Montclair State College in 1967. Upon his graduation, he was a teacher and coach for several years before becoming a small business owner in Monmouth County. Peter was the owner and operator of Frank N. Stein, Long Branch. Besides his business, Peter was active with his children with the local sports organizations.
Peter was predeceased by his parents, Peter Baubles Sr. and Helen Frances Woolley Baubles, and a son, Colin Baubles.
He is survived by his children, two sons, Evan and Dylan Baubles, of Little Egg Harbor, three daughters, Alyssa Baubles, of Belmar, Kimberly Baubles, of Hoboken, and Jeanette Baubles, of Spring Lake Heights, a brother, Donald Baubles and his wife, Ellen, of Auburn, Ala., and three nephews, Flint, Joseph and Peter.
Interment was private at Greenwood Cemetery, Brielle.

Julianna Heisig
Bradley Beach resident Julianna R. Heisig died on Monday, July 28 at her sister’s home in Shark River Hills.
She was 63 years old.
Mrs. Heisig owned and operated Shore Wines & Liquors in Bradley Beach for over 40 years. She served her country in the U.S. Marine Corps from 1964-1966 and then in the U.S. Army from 1966 - 1968. She was an active volunteer for the American Red Cross, the Neptune High School NJROTC and was affectionately dubbed the “cereal angel” at the Bradley Beach Food Pantry. She also was an advocate of the Popcorn Park Zoo and the Eatontown SPCA. Friends and relatives dearly referred to her as the “coupon queen” and will be sorely missed. Born in Newark she resided in South Bound Brook before moving to Bradley Beach 40 years ago.
Her father, Joseph Makoski, predeceased her.
Surviving are her mother, Anna Krul, of Neptune; sons, Jason, of Bradley Beach, Michael and his wife Rachel, of Brick; daughter, Christina Pleuss and her husband Ken, of Bayville; a sister, Barbara Ann Makoski, of Shark River Hills; and her grandchildren, Rhyanna, Zachary, Hunter, Connor and Alexa. She also leaves many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Visiting will be on today from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at the O’Brien Funeral Home, Highway 35 at New Bedford Road, Wall. The service will follow at noon. Interment
will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
