Ruthmarie Manger
Spring Lake Heights resident Ruthmarie McDonald Manger, RN, entered her eternal rest on Saturday, March 22, at Jersey Shore Medical Center.
She was 74 years old.
Ruthmarie was born in Newark. She graduated from St. Peter’s Grammar School and Our Lady of the Village High School. Ruthmarie graduated first in her class from St. Michael’s School of Nursing. Initially, she was an emergency room nurse and then the night supervisor at St. Michael’s Hospital. She also worked as a nurse and office manager for Dr. John Insabella and Dr. William Conroy. Later, she worked at Perth Amboy General Hospital and Jersey Shore Hospital.
Ruthmarie was a generous and loving person who donated much of her time to charitable causes. She volunteered as a Secretary for St. Rose Office of Religious Education. Ruthmarie was a parishioner of St. Elizabeth’s Parish in Avon and was a member of the Rosary and Alter Society, and past vice-president.
Ruthmarie took great pleasure in sewing and made Baptism bibs for St. Elizabeth’s Rosary and Altar Society. She took great pride in her Irish heritage and was a trustee for the Women of Irish Heritage and sewed capes for the St. Patrick’s Day Parade. She was a member of the Spanish-American War Veteran’s Auxiliary.
Ruthmarie was predeceased by her parents, Joseph and Mae McDonald.
Ruthmarie is survived by her husband and best friend for over 50 years, Donald J. Manger, of Spring Lake Heights; her daughters, Joan Elizabeth Lee and her husband, Melvin, of Freehold Township, her daughter, Kathleen Marie Kenny and her husband, Peter, of Manasquan, and her daughter Mary Frances Mueller and her husband Darren, of Holmdel; her sons, Dr. Donald C. Manger and his wife, Halina, of Pennington, her son Joseph W. Manger and his partner, Nicholas G. Truhan, of Hamilton; and three grandsons.
A Mass of Christian Burial
will be today at 10 a.m. at St. Elizabeth’s Church, Avon.
Interment will follow at St. Anne’s Cemetery, Wall.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Elizabeth’s Rosary and Alter Society.

Diane Mitchell
Allenwood section of Wall resident Diane Mitchell, whose sons reside in Point Pleasant and Point Pleasant Beach, died on Monday, March 10, in the Geraldine Thompson Care Center.
She was 85 years old.
Diane was the owner and operator of Brielle Dry Cleaners for over 25 years.
She was communicant of St. Peter’s Point Pleasant, and a past member of the Brielle Chamber of Commerce. Diane enjoyed her trips to Atlantic City.
She was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. and raised in Jersey City. Diane, along with her husband, James William, moved to Point Pleasant in 1963.
Diane was predeceased by her husband of 45 years, James William Mitchell, in 1993.
She is survived by three sons and a daughter-in-law, Kevin Mitchell, of Riverside, Calif., James Mitchell Jr., of Point Pleasant, and Brian Mitchell and his wife, Cheryl, of Point Pleasant Beach. Diane is also survived by a sister, Mary and five grandchildren, Aimee, Katie, Jimmac, Jake and Tony.
Interment was private.

Charles Dow
Weatherford, Texas resident Charles Dow, formerly of Point Pleasant, died Tuesday, Feb. 26 in his home in Weatherford, Texas.
Charles was raised in Nutley and relocated with his parents to Point Pleasant.
He was a veteran of the Korean War serving with the 1st Marine Division.
Charlie was a founding member of the Point Pleasant Borough First Aid Squad and a member of the Point Pleasant Police Department from 1969 to 1986. He was awarded a Commendation for Valor January 1947 and the PBA Award in June 1976. He retired from the police department in 1986. After his retirement he moved to Texas.
He is survived by his two best friends, Althea Connolly, of Weatherford, Texas and Al Martinetti, Point Pleasant; and “Mini” his faithful pet to the end.
Known to many as the “Silver Fox, ” Charlie was admired by all and will be sorely missed by those who were close to him.
Funeral services were private at his request.
Steven W. Kent
Point Pleasant resident Steven W. Kent died suddenly on Thursday, March 13.
He was 61 years old.
Born in Jersey City to the late Walter and Hazel Crosby Kent, he was raised in Hoboken and lived in Eatontown, moving to Point Pleasant seven years ago.
He served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War and was a disabled American veteran.
Mr. Kent worked as a computer sales representative and was formerly employed by Prime Computer. He was a graduate of St. Peter’s College, Jersey City and had attended Monmouth University. He was a beloved husband and loving father.
Surviving are his wife, Bessie A. Sabo Kent; his son, Troy S. Kent and his fiancee, Evelyn Wilson, of England; his daughter, Amybeth Puhalovic and her husband, Ian, of Alabama; and three grandchildren, Chloe, Mason and Victoria.
The Pable-Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, handled the arrangements. Interment
took place at the BGWCD Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown.
Shirley J. Poore
Point Pleasant resident Shirley J. Poore passed away peacefully Sunday, March 16.
She was 77 years old.
Jovial, spirited and loved by all who knew her, Shirley was college educated and truly enjoyed being a homemaker.
Born in Blakely, Pa., Shirley resided in Point Pleasant for 40 years. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Point Pleasant Elks, serving as president, and belonged to the Harvey Memorial Church congregation. One of her favorite places to meet with her friends of many decades was at the weekly “Glorious Years” gatherings.
Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Theodore H. Poore, in 1999. She is survived by her son, T. Craig Poore and his wife Debra Poore of Coram, N.Y.; her daughter, Lisa Wood and her husband Larry Wood of Ringoes; her brothers, Paul Jones of Atlantic City, and Lawrence Vernon of Princeton; her sister, Mary Stradley of Wilmington, Del., and three grandchildren, T. Jonathan Poore, Anastasia and Maximillian Wood.

took place at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.
Judith L. Stires
Bay Head resident Judith L. [nee Lohman] Stires died Sunday, March 16 in her home.
She was 78 years old.
A homemaker, she was born in Brooklyn, she lived in Manhattan prior to moving to Bay Head 50 years ago.
Mrs. Stires was a member of the Bay Head Yacht Club and a member of the Freedom Institute of New York City. She was also a member of the All Saints Episcopal Church, Bay Head.
She is survived by her husband Sidney Stires; two sons Philip A. Stires of Ridgewood, and Thomas A. Stires of Hoboken; two daughters Martha S. Wright of Princeton, and Anne Carter of Greenich, Ct.; she is also survived by her sister Gail L. Raleigh of Bay Head and 13 grandchildren.
Cremation was private. Van Hise & Callagan Funeral Home, Point Pleasant was in charge of arrangements.
William C. Nave Jr.
Brick resident William C. Nave Jr., formerly of Point Pleasant, died Friday, March 14, in his home.
He was 83 years old.
He was born and raised in Philadelphia, moved to New Jersey in 1941 and lived in Point Pleasant, before moving to Brick.
He was a veteran of World War II, proudly serving his country in the U.S. Army.
He was employed as a mill man for more than 41 years at Van Note Lumber in Point Pleasant Beach. After retirement, he continued to work as a bus aide for the Brick Township School System. He was a member of American Legion Post number 1000, Brick.
He was predeceased by two daughters, Patricia L. Fusaro, in 2003, and Brenda J. Apuzzo, in 2006.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, June A. Conkling Nave; a son, William R. and his wife, Dorothyann, of Galloway Township; three daughters, Susan A. Ellis and her husband, Steven, of Farmingdale, Kathy Joy Nave of Brick, and Barbara J. Piana of Neptune; two sons-in-law, Vincent Fusaro, of Bayville, and William Apuzzo, of Brick; a brother, Charles, of San Antonio; a sister, Betty Thuss, of Point Pleasant; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
O'Brien Funeral Home, Brick, was in charge of arrangements. Burial
took place at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Toms River.
Teresa M. Fellinger Davidson
Point Pleasant resident Teresa M. Fellinger Davidson died Wednesday, March 12, in Ocean Medical Center, Brick.
She was 72 years old.
She was born in Montclair and lived in Little Silver before moving to Point Pleasant in 1985.
She was graduate of Caldwell College for Women in West Orange, where she received her bachelor’s degree in education.
She was a parishioner of St. Peter’s Roman Catholic Church, Point Pleasant Beach, where she was a former member of the Catholic Daughters. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
She was predeceased by her husband of 15 years, James D. Davidson, in 1974.
She is survived by three sons, Christopher J. and his wife, Linda, of Brick, Gregory J. and his wife, Anne, of Middletown, and Peter J. and his wife, Jennifer, of Point Pleasant; two daughters, Marilyn G. Alpenfels and her husband, William, of Del Mar, Calif., and Elizabeth Davidson, of Point Pleasant; three brothers, Richard Fellinger, of Franklin Lakes, Kevin Fellinger, of New Providence, and John Fellinger, of Ridgewood; a sister, Marla Balcerski, of Linwood; eight grandchildren, Kelly, Megan, James, Michael, Margot, Becker, Erin and Jordan; and several nieces and nephews.
