Ellen Bresnan Talbot
Point Pleasant Beach resident Ellen Bresnan Talbot died Saturday, Feb. 23 in Red Bank.
She was 78 years old.
Ms. Talbot leaves behind loved ones in both Monmouth and Ocean counties.
Born Oct. 7, 1930 in Huntington, N.Y., she was the daughter of Norman and Eva Kuzmier Talbot.
Ms. Talbot attended St. Hugh’s and St. Patrick’s High School in Huntington and Adelphi University.
Ms. Talbot lived in Bantam and Bethel, Conn. and Middletown before living in Point Pleasant Beach.
Ms. Talbot was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, Bay Head. She was an enthusiastic member of the Point Pleasant Beach Beautification Committee. She loved all animals, especially dogs and raised and showed Cairn Terriers.
The depth and scope of her knowledge on so many different subjects was, and will forever be, an inspiration to her family and friends.There could be no finer aunt or great-aunt. She inspired two generations of children with her “walks and talks” in the woods.
Ms.Talbot was predeceased by her brother, John, in 2001 and her sister-in-law, Mary Lu, on Feb. 9, 2008.
She is survived by her sister, Sister Jane Talbot [Sister of Mercy] of Brentwood, N.Y. and her brother, David and sister-in-law, Mary Jo Talbot, of Point Pleasant. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Noelle and Ken Walls and Katherine, Sam and Jack, of Tinton Falls, John and Mathew Talbot of Willis, Texas, David Talbot, of Baltimore, Janine Talbot and Brian, Christian and Grace of Little Silver, Ellie and Mark Osmulski and Margaret, Sarah and Edward, of Rumson, Dr. Elizabeth Talbot and Stephane Courtine and Christophe, Juliette and Daniel, of New London, N.H., and Martha and Mike Barnett and Jake and McKenzie of Kodiak, Alaska.
The family requested memorial donations to the Point Pleasant Beach Beautification Committee c/o Point Pleasant Beach Borough Hall or to Riverview Medical Center Hospice, Red Bank.
Arrangements were by the Thompson Funeral Home, Red Bank.
Adam A. Brower, III
Point Pleasant resident Adam A. Brower died on Friday, March 7 in Ocean Medical Center, Brick.
He was 82 years old.
Born in Lovelandtown to the late Adam A. Jr. and Mary Atkinson Brower, he was a lifelong Point Pleasant resident.
He proudly served his country in the Merchant Marines during World War II and the Korean War.
Mr. Brower had worked as a stationary engineer, retiring from Point Pleasant Hospital.
He was a member of the B.P.O. Elks, Point Pleasant Lodge No. 1698; the L.O.O. Moose, Point Pleasant Lodge No. 1549; and the American Merchant Marine Veterans; and was a parishioner of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Bay Head.
He was predeceased by his son, John Adam Brower, and by his stepson, Patrick Catello.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Madeline Carris Brower; his stepson, Dennis Donnelly and his wife, Arlene; two daughters-in-law, Jo Ann Onello and Terry Catello; his grandchildren, Deborah, Susan, Pat, Daniel, Steven, Dean, Scott, Shawn, Nick, Dennis Jr., John, Patrick and Michael; his great-grandchildren, Ty, Damon, Elle, Justin, Dylan, Erik and Nicholas; and by his best friend, Vincent Ardito.
The Pable-Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, was in charge of arrangements. Interment
took place at White Lawn Cemetery, Point Pleasant.
Sharon A. McCourt McDowell
Port St. Lucie, Fla. resident Sharon A. McCourt McDowell, formerly of Point Pleasant, died Thursday, March 6, in her home.
She was 61 years old.
She was an office manager at Reynolds Aluminum, Exton, Pa., for five years, retiring in 1998.
Born in Irvington, she lived in Point Pleasant and North Carolina before moving to Florida three years ago. She was a graduate of Point Pleasant High School in 1964. She was a former member of both St. Martha’s Roman Catholic Church, Point Pleasant, and St. Dominic’s Roman Catholic Church, Brick.
She was predeceased by her parents, Gene and Peg McCourt; and a brother, Charles McCourt.
She is survived by her husband, Clarence A. McDowell; two daughters, Lisa McDowell of Point Pleasant, and Kimberly McDowell-Serpico and her husband Anthony of Brick; and three grandchildren, Jack Henry Eibel, and Alexis and Zachary Serpico.
The funeral will be offered at 10 a.m. Friday at the Colonial Funeral Home, 2170 Highway 88, Brick. Entombment will follow at St. Catharine’s Cemetery, Wall.
Sharon A. McCourt McDowell
Port St. Lucie, Fla. resident Sharon A. McCourt McDowell, formerly of Point Pleasant, died Thursday, March 6, in her home.
She was 61 years old.

Kerry F. Quigley
Livonia, Mich. resident Kerry F. Quigley, who was born in Point Pleasant, died on March 7 in her home.
She was 58 years old.
Born in Point Pleasant, she grew up in Manasquan. She lived in Delaware and several other states before moving to Livonia, Mich., 13 years ago.
Mrs. Quigley was a teacher for 25 years. She graduated from Manasquan High School in 1967 and was the valedictorian.
Mrs. Quigley is survived by her husband, the Rev. John Quigley; and is also survived by two sons, John and his wife, Kim, and Brendan; her daughter, Erin Ruth; two brothers, Robert Clouse Jr. and Devon Clouse; and four grandchildren, Megan, John, Patrick and Jack T.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 15 at 10 a.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, Manasquan.
Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery, Brielle.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 4 to 8 p.m.
The Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, 39 South St., Manasquan, is in charge of the arrangements.

Sean Michael Leary
Point Pleasant resident Sean Michael Leary, formally of Milltown, died suddenly on Friday March 7, while skiing at Windham, N.Y.
He was 50 years old.
Sean was the senior resident engineer in construction management for the Ocean County Utilities Authority. Also for many years he was the race announcer for Harley Drag Racing at Raceway Park in Old Bridge and many other race tracks throughout the country.
Sean was an active member of his community, serving as a republican councilman for many years for the Borough of Milltown. While on council between 1997 and 2000, Sean lead the council’s work on budgeting, road projects and communications while he was the chairman of the public safety committee. He also had served as the Milltown Council President.
Sean loved life, his family and friends. He was proud to be an Eagle Scout. Sean will be remembered as a great dad and a wonderful person who lived life to the fullest. He will truly be missed by all who knew him.
He was predeceased by his father, William P. Leary; and his brothers, William and Peter Leary.
He is survived by two precious daughters, Kaitlyn Olivia and Catie Jane Leary, of Freehold; his mother, Carole Leary, of Hardy, Va; a sister, Erin Stephens, of Bointon Beach, Fla.; sister and brother-in-law, Maryann and Keith Leclaire, of Rocky Mount, Va; brothers and sisters-in-law, Daniel and Jaqueline Leary, of Hardy, Va., Patrick and Angie Leary, of Glade Hill, Va. and Dennis and Britta Leary, of Moneta, Va.; three nieces, Kelly Stephens, Sarah Leclaire and Kelsey Leary; and three nephews, Patrick Stephens, William and Kevin Leary.
The Bronson & Guthlein Funeral Home, Milltown, handled the arrangements. Final disposition was private.
