Eugene Borghoff
The Villages, Fla. resident Eugene L. Borghoff, formerly of Manasquan, died on Dec. 29.
He was 78 years old.
He was a partner in the National Air Filter Service Company.
Born on Sept. 4, 1929 in Gary, Ind., he moved to Florida from Manasquan, in 2001.
He attended St. Timothy Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife, Joan A. Borghoff, The Villages, Fla.; his two sons, Christopher E. Borghoff, The Villages, Fla. and Eric John Borghoff, Manasquan; four brothers, Edward Borghoff, The Villages, Fla., William Borghoff, Nevada, James Borghoff, Forked River and Glenn Borghoff, Ridgewood; and two grandchildren.
Arrangements were under the direction of Hiers-Baxley Funeral Services, The Villages, Fla.
Genevieve Cosentino
Manasquan resident Genevieve Cosentino died on Dec. 24 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, in Neptune.
She was 86 years old.
Born in New York City, she lived in Fairlawn before moving to Manasquan five years ago.
She was a homemaker. She was a member of the Bayberry Garden Club of Brielle, the Trend Setters of Sea Girt and the Cosmos Club in Fairlawn. She attended St. Martha’s RC Church in Point Pleasant.
She was predeceased by her husband, Michael, in 1985.
Surviving are two sons, Steven of New York City and Michael of Lake Oswego, Ore.; one daughter, Drene Ann Cosentino-Oty, of Manasquan; and one granddaughter, Jayla Cosentino.
Cremation was private.

Margaret Bassini
Manasquan resident Margaret Ruth “Peg” Bassini died Tuesday, Dec. 25 at Ocean Medical Center, in Brick.
She was 81 years old.
Born in Roselle, she lived in New Providence before moving to Manasquan 33 years ago.
Mrs. Bassini was a homemaker. Her remarkable strength and spirit inspired everyone who loved her.
Mrs. Bassini is survived and loved by her husband of 56 years, Robert Sr.; two sons, Robert Donald Jr. and his wife, Sharon, of Toms River, and Kevin John, of Rumson; three daughters, Sheryl Raines and her husband, Alan, of Howell, Janine Bassini, of Point Pleasant and Sally Reddington and her husband, Michael, of Howell; one brother, Robert Kuchek and his wife, Norma Bode, of Monument, Colo.; six grandchildren, Alanna Joy, Robert III, Matthew, Brittany, Andrew and Colin.
Cremation will be private.

Regina Van Pelt
Brick resident Regina S. “Jean” Van Pelt passed away peacefully in her sleep on New Year’s Eve with her loved ones beside her. She leaves many loved ones behind, including a daughter who has been a longtime teacher at St. Rose High School, Belmar.
She was 86 years old.
She was the daughter of the late George and Mary Silver. Early in her life she worked at Taylor’s Drug Store, Lakewood and Fort Monmouth. Jeannie also worked 18 years at Georgian Court University as a secretary of the evening division. She was an active member of the American Lagion Auxiliary and the only four-time president of the Mother’s Club of Saint Mary’s Academy, Lakewood. She volunteered much time at then Saint Joseph High School, in Toms River. She also worked for the board of election and served as a Republican committee woman. Jeannie worked diligently for Saint Mary of the Lake Church for many years. She lived in Lakewood most of her life, moving to Brick in 1999 to live with her daughter and son-in-law Maryjean and Mark C. Martz. She will be remembered by her many friends for her love of God, family and animals. Her dog, Jamie spent many hours with her watching her beloved Yankees and Food Network. We will all remember this sweet woman with great love and respect.
Jeannie is survived by her beloved daughter and son in law, Maryjean and Mark C. Martz, of Brick; daughter and son-in-law Judy and Ellsworth Moore of Lakewood. She loved her sons-in-law as if they were her own. Jeannie also had two beautiful granddaughters, whom she loved dearly, Serena Jean Johanna Martz, whom she taught to cook and gave a lot of reading, and Jennifer McGuire, her other granddaughter who was also dearly loved by her grandmother and spent much of her childhood with “Ma.” A highlight of Jeannie’s life was the birth of her great-granddaughter, Tess McGuire. Jeannie also loved her grandson-in-law, Greg McGuire and his parents, John and Mary, who always treated her with great love and respect.
Relatives and friends may call today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road, Wall. A Mass of Christian Burial
will be on Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Rose Church, Belmar. Interment
will follow at St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery, Lakewood.

James D. Bergan Sr.
Spring Lake Heights resident James D. Bergan Sr. died on Wednesday, Dec. 26 at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center, in Neptune.
He was 93 years old.
Mr. Bergan worked as a station manager for Amtrak in Penn Station in New York City before retiring 30 years ago.
Mr. Bergan was a sergeant in the U.S. Army Veteran during World War II. Born and raised in Plains, Pa., he lived in Newark and Belleville before moving to Spring Lake Heights 57 years ago.
Mr. Bergan was predeceased by his loving wife, Evelyn [Ward] in 1995.
Surviving are his son, James D. Jr. and his wife, Kathleen, of Brick; his daughter, Judith A. Williams and her husband, Charles, of Spring Lake Heights; three grandchildren, Carol Brahn, Cathleen Butler and Katie Bergan; and six great grandchildren.
Burial
was held at Greenwood Cemetery, in Brielle.

M. Raymond Shalloo
Spring Lake Heights resident M. Raymond Shalloo died on Friday, Dec. 28 at his home.
He was 82 years old.
Born in East Orange, he lived in Spring Lake Heights for 47 years.
He was employed with Royal Globe Insurance for 40 years, becoming a member of the Royal Guard. He was a communicant of St. Catharine’s Church in Spring Lake and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, serving in the Pacific Theatre during WW II.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife, G. Pauline, in 1995 and his brother, Daniel, in 2007.
Surviving are his sons and their wives, Martin R. Shalloo, Matthew G. and Sherie Shalloo, and Patrick J. and Florence Shalloo; his grandchildren, John and Jessica Livingood, Brittany, Carling, Madison and Matthew, Jr. Shalloo, and his great grandson Conner Decker. He also leaves his sister, Dorris Williams, his sister-in-law, Cathy Shalloo and Mary Zamblauskas, his devoted companion of 11 years.
Interment was held at St. Catharine’s Cemetery, Wall.

Sabino Spinelli
Brick resident Sabino “Sam” Spinelli, formerly of Verona and Orange, passed away on Wednesday, Dec. 26, at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. He leaves behind many loved ones, including family in Sea Girt.
He was 85 years old.
He had been employed as a Heavy Equipment Operator for Operating Engineers Local No. 825, Springfield for over 20 years retiring in 1975.
He was also a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II. Born and raised in Orange her had lived there for many years and then in Verona before moving to Brick nine years ago.
He is survived by his daughters and their spouses, Donna and Robert Wagner, of Sea Girt, and Marguerite and Joseph Pinto, of Bradenton, Fla. and six grandchildren, Robert II, Ashley, Joseph, Justin, Mariah and Jared.
Entombment was held at Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River.

Lynn Tilton
Lake Como resident Lynn Marie Tilton [nee Mulhall] died on Dec. 30 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.
She was 55 years old.
Born in Point Pleasant, she lived in Manasquan before moving to Lake Como 20 years ago.
Mrs. Tilton was the court administrator for Lake Como for 19 years. She was a member and past president of Monmouth Municipal Court Administrators Association of Monmouth County and a member of the MCAA with the State of New Jersey. Mrs. Tilton was also a member of the Executive Board of Monmouth County.
Surviving are her husband of 38 years, Fred Tilton; her parents, Warren and Evelyn [nee Reers] Mulhall; two sons, Fred Tilton III, of Brick and his wife, Amy, and Jason Tilton, of Brick and his wife, Jennifer; a daughter, Lyndsay, who lives at home; two brothers, Roddy and Russell Mulhall; and four grandchildren.
Visitation will be today from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Reilly Funeral Home, 801 D St., Belmar.
Family and friends will gather at the funeral home on Friday at 9 a.m.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m.
Interment will be private at Monmouth Memorial Park.
