J. Dennis Sullivan Jr.
J. Dennis Sullivan, Jr., of Point Pleasant Beach and Pompano Beach, Fla., formerly of Bound Brook died on Saturday, Jan. 5 peacefully at home with his family, at age 77.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday Jan. 12 at 2 p.m. at Christ Episcopal Church, New Brunswick.
Born in New Brunswick, Dennis was the son of the late John D. Sullivan and Frances R. Sullivan. Known to most as Den, he was raised in Highland Park, and graduated from Highland Park High School.
Following high school he attended and graduated Rutgers University where he was president of the Delta Kappa Epsilon Fraternity. He was also editor in chief of the Rutgers yearbook, The Scarlet Letter, secretary -treasurer of his class and a member of the “Who’s Who, ” Cap and Skull, and Crown and Scroll Honor Societies.
As an alumnus Den was active in university affairs, having served on the University Board of Trustess for a six-year term. He was also a past president of the Rutgers Alumni Association, the Rutgers Club, The Alumni Interfraternity Council, and the DEKE Alumni Association and his Alumni class. He was a recipient of the Rutgers Loyal Son Award, the Earnest T. Gardner Award and the Class of 1931 Award for outstanding service to the university and the community.
Den Was a member of Christ Episcopal Church, New Brunswick, for over 60 years and served as a Vestry member and in the church choir for 37 years.
Active in New Brunswick affairs, Den served on the Board of Directors for the former New Brunswick Savings and its successor. He was also a past president of the Raritan Valley YMCA, the Neighborhood House of New Brunswick, and a recipient of the Greater New Brunswick Jaycees “Young Man of the Year” award.
Den served on the Bound Brook Borough Council for a three- year term.
He was also a U.S. Army Veteran, having served a seven-year active and reserve duty enlistment commitment.
Den was president of the Parker, Remsen, and Sullivan, Inc. Insurance Agency, originally of New Brunswick, but more recently of Highland Park for over 30 years. He retired from the agency in 2002.
He is survived by his wife Andrea [Poquette] and his children Kathryn L. Bauer of Middlesex and Point Pleasant Beach, John D. Sullivan III of Wilmington, N.C., Michael D. Sullivan of Point Pleasant Beach, and a stepson James Caprio of Point Pleasant.
He is also survived by his sister Virginia Sullivan Paulus of Salam, S.C. and eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers donations to Restore the Shore in Den’s memory would be appreciated.

William B. Lott Jr.
William B. Lott Jr., 75 of Point Pleasant and Palm Harbor, Fla., passed away Tuesday, Jan. 8.
He was predeceased by his wife, Laura; parents, William B., Sr. and Emma [Smith] Lott, and sisters, Ellen Duff and Genevieve Viles.
Surviving are two sisters, Emma “Jo” Connors of Point Pleasant and Grace Camus of Florida; many nieces, nephews, and a large extended family.
At 11 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 15, a memorial service will held at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend and may gather from 10:30 a.m.
Jacqueline Frances Riedinger
Jacqueline Frances Riedinger, 64, of Brick, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Wednesday, May 1, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Jackie was born May 2, 1948, in Point Pleasant. She was employed at Butler's Pharmacy for 17 years.
She loved to travel and read, spending time with her sister and her friends. Most of all she loved her children and grandchildren.
Jackie leaves behind her husband Deacon Gerald Riedinger of St. Dominic’s Parish, her sister Susan Thompson of Portland, Ore., and her brother Steven Cribbin of Mine Hill.
She also leaves behind four loving children, Todd Meyers of Toms River, Tracy and John Barcus of Brick, Gerald and Gina Riedinger of Brick, and Loren and Christine Riedinger of Lacey Township. She had nine wonderful grandchildren, Jake, Marissa, Haley, Daniel, Gavin, Kayla, Sarah, Sydney and Sophia.
Colonial Funeral Home, Brick, was in charge of arrangements. Burial
was at the Brigadier General William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.

Katherine Elizabeth Sytko Ogden
Katherine Elizabeth Sytko Ogden, 48, of Point Pleasant, formerly of Wall, passed away unexpectedly at home, Sunday, April 28.
Born and raised in Irvington, to the late Anthony and Roberta “Bobby” Sytko, she lived in Wall before settling in Point Pleasant.
Kathy was a graduate of Union Catholic High School and attended Union County Vocational Tech. She worked locally as an administrative assistant for many years until the birth of her beloved son, Chanse.
She enjoyed cooking, the beach, helping others, and cherished being a mother.
She was also predeceased by her mother and father in law, Ronald and Brenda Ogden.
Surviving are her husband of 24 years, Kevin Ogden; her son, Chanse Ogden; two brothers, Michael Sytko, his wife, Sally and their children, Christopher and Jonathan, and Glenn Sytko, his wife, Maggie, and their children, Angela and Anthony; and numerous, aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends.
At 4 p.m., Friday, May 10, a memorial service will be held at the Pable Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
As an expression of sympathy, donations made in her memory to a scholarship fund being established for her son would be appreciated.

Thomas S. Nichols
Thomas S. Nichols, 55, of Point Pleasant passed away on Wednesday, May 1.
Mr. Nichols was a fashion merchant for many years at Kenneth Cole in New York City. He was born and raised in North Arlington before moving to Point Pleasant 42 years ago.
He was a graduate of Point Pleasant Boro High School in 1976, attended Brookdale Community College and then graduated from Rider University with a bachelor degree.
Mr. Nichols was predeceased by his parents Halsey and Jean Nichols and by his sister Laurie I. Nichols. Surviving is his nephew Andrew Thomas Nichols of Point Pleasant.
Visiting will be on Friday from 5-9 p.m. at the O’Brien Funeral Home 505 Burnt Tavern Road, Brick. The service will be held on Saturday 11 a.m. in the funeral home. A cremation will follow privately.

Grover Carl Rudolph
Point Pleasant Beach resident Grover Carl Rudolph died Wednesday, March 19.
He was 86 years old.
Carl was born in Jersey City, he lived in Cedar Grove since 1952, and then moved to Point Pleasant Beach in 1986, when he retired from Penwalt Corp., formerly Wallace and Tiernan in Newark, as a senior engineer where he was employed for 37 years.
He was a navigator and meteorologist in the 15th Air Force retiring as a Major. During World War II, Carl had many volunteer jobs, ambulance unit in Cedar Grove, Boy Scout Leader; he volunteered at Mountainside Hospital, and volunteered at the Community Church of Cedar Grove and also for the Habitat for Humanity in Naples, Fla.
Carl was predeceased by his parents, Grover C. and Ada Rudolph.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Eleanor; a daughter, Pamela and her husband, Bill Souther, of Farmington, N.M.; two sons, Bruce Rudolph and his wife, Sarah, of Carlsbad, Calif., David Rudolph and his wife, Patricia, of Palmer, Alaska; five grandchildren, Kim, Kristopher, Eric, Eleanor and Laura; and one great-grandson Dylon.

Mary Woods
Point Pleasant resident Mary Woods [nee Butler], formerly of Harrison died on Saturday, March 22.
She was 81 years old.
Mary was the beloved wife for 49 years of Thomas W., who passed away in 1997. She is the loving mother of Mary Clancey and her husband, Ted, and her son, Tom Woods; cherished grandmother of Christopher Clancey and his wife, Danielle, Danielle Doyle and her husband, David, Nicole Clancey, Jay Chevere and Allison Woods; and great-grandmother to Christopher, Joseph and Alyssa Clancey, Raegan Doyle and Gianna Chevere; and dear sister to Mildred Breheny.
Her sense of humor, wealth of knowledge and guidance will be cherished and never forgotten. We all love and miss you our Nanny Woods.
Arrangements were handled by Mulligan Funeral Home, Harrison. Interment
took place at Holy Cross Cemetery.
Lawrence Rolff
Lavallette resident Lawrence Rolff died Monday March 17, in Tallwoods Care Center, Bayville.
He was 92 years old.
Born in Carlstadt, he and his family survived the Great Depression. As a young man, he served in World War II both in the Pacific and European theaters and saw the world.
Larry had many occupations in his life; a deli owner with his brother Rich; he worked for Western Union and then for Trubeck Chemical Company until his retirement. Ready to retire in 1973, he moved down to Ocean Beach One and lived in one of the cottages that his brothers helped him build.
While retired, he enjoyed gardening and being a beachcomber. A kind man and a good samaritan, affectionately known as “Uncle Larry” to family, friends and neighbors. He loved to garden and shared everything he grew. He loved music and would play a song or two for you on his organ as you walked by his home.
He was predeceased by one brother Rich and two sisters, Violet and Marion.
He is survived by his brother Bill; several nephews and nieces; great-nephews and great-nieces; and great-great-nephews and great-great-nieces. We love you Uncle Larry… God bless you.
