Alyce Hope Salmon
Alyce Holmes Salmon, 78, of Wall died on Sunday, June 20, at Meridian Sub Acute in Wall. Mrs. Salmon taught English in the Middletown School System, Holyoke College in Massachusetts and at Monmouth University in Long Branch. She was a graduate of Villa Victoria High School in Trenton, received her B.A. from Trinity College in Washington D.C. and received her masters degree from Middlebury College in Vermont under a U.S. Fulbright Grant which included a years study at the University of Paris. She further studied French at Lausanne University.
Mrs. Salmon served nine years on the Wall Township Board of Education, including one year as its president. She was the Wall Township Historian from 1977-2000 and was designated Historian Emerita by the Township Committee in 2003. She was chair of the Wall Township Bicentennial Committee in 1976. Her written publications are available at www.wallnj.com and in print.
Born in Trenton she has been a Wall Township resident since 1963.
She was predeceased by her parents Frank Decker Holmes and Elizabeth Madden Holmes, a son Gregory Benet Salmon, and brothers Robert and William Holmes.
She is survived by her loving husband of 50 years Pierre Joseph Salmon of Wall, daughter Mary Ann Ucles of Wayside, son and daughter in law Peter Joseph and Josephine Salmon of San Diego, Calif., and four grandchildren Sofia, Stefanie, Gregory and Benet.
Visiting will be today, Thursday, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the O’Brien Funeral Home 2028 Hwy 35 Wall. The service will be held also on Thursday at 8 p.m. Interment
will be held privately.

Henry Francis Reiman
Henry F. Reiman, 92, of Spring Lake, passed away Friday, June 18, at the Wexford in Spring Lake.
Born in Jersey City, he lived in the shore area for over 40 years. Mr. Reiman retired from First Merchants National Bank over 30 years ago. He was a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church of Atonement, Asbury Park. He served in the U.S. Army during WWII.
Mr. Reiman was the son of the late William and Catherine Reiman. There are no known survivors of his immediate family, but he is survived by many close friends. At his request, the funeral will be private.

Luis Alberto Luna
Luis Alberto Luna, 80, of Wall Township, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 19, at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune.
Luis was employed as a professor and bilingual counselor at Brookdale Community College, Lincroft for 33 years retiring in 2007. He had worked at the campuses in Middletown and Long Branch and the main campus in Lincroft during his career. Prior to this he had worked full time and attended college during the evening receiving his masters in bilingual studies from Rutgers University.
Born in Barranquitas, Puerto Rico, he had lived in Long Branch for 13 years, and then in Asbury Park for 10 years before moving to Wall 10 years ago. Luis and his wife Robin were avid campers and had traveled all over the United States visiting many beautiful landmarks and regions of the country.
He was predeceased by a host of brothers and sisters.
Surviving is his beloved wife of 31 years, Robin Matthews Luna, his children Travis Matthews of Asbury Park, Guy and Christy Crank-Matthews of Allenhurst and Simone Matthews of Aberdeen, a brother Br. Nicholas Luna of Ohio, a sister Laura Rivera of Puerto Rico, his three grandchildren Sequoia, Quanique, and Madison and a host of nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are invited to call today, Thursday, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Hwy 35 at New Bedford Rd., Wall. Committal and cremation will be private at the convenience of the family.
Kenneth W. Stein
Kenneth W. Stein, 67, of Point Pleasant, passed away Friday, June 18, at home.
Born in Jersey City, to the late Peter W. and Helen [Cremins] Stein, and raised in Avenel, he moved to the Jersey Shore in 1975 and has lived in Point Pleasant for the past 25 years.
For many years, Ken worked for New Jersey Bell Telephone/Verizon, in Ocean and Monmouth counties, retiring in 2001 as an assistant manager.
Surviving are his wife of nearly 22 years, Paula Usovitch Stein; his daughter, Kimberly Pereira, and her husband, Richard, of Barnegat; his son, Christian Stein, and his wife, Kathleen, of Loganville, Ga.; one stepdaughter, Michelle Pascoe-Antonelli; and two step-sons, John Pascoe and Craig Pascoe, all of Brick; and 10 grandchildren, Richard Pereira, Richie Pascoe, Elizabeth Pereira, Taylor Stein, Craig Pascoe, Hailey Stein, Nicholas Pereira, Colin Stein, Antonio Antonelli and Amelia Stein.
Funeral arrangements were under the care of the Pable-Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant. His funeral was held Wednesday, with cremation held privately.

E. Perry Connell
E. Perry Connell, 67, of Island Heights, passed away on Friday, June 18, at his residence.
Born on Aug. 22, 1942, in Chatham, he was the son of the late Francis Aloysius and Barbara Virginia Connell.
Surviving are five children, Christina Perry Connell, of Lavallette, Nancy Gregg Poss and husband Christopher Rose, of Frederick, Md., R. Perry Connell and wife Kelly, of Houston, Texas, Diana Giampetro and husband Clifford, of Riverside, and Patrick F. Connell, of Island Heights; nine grandchildren, Gregg Connell, Hadley Poss, Logan Connell, Keaton Rose, Michael Giampetro, Emerson Rose, Will Connell, Nathaniel Giampetro and Patrick Connell; and a brother, Michael, of Middletown, R.I.
Mr. Connell attended Florida Southern University, and later served in the Army during the Vietnam Conflict. He spent his career in sales and retired as Vice President of Sales and Operations at PMS Consolidated in the late 1990s.
Mr. Connell was a lifelong member of the Seaside Park Yacht Club, where he was a longtime trustee and served as regatta chairperson and former treasurer. His service as regatta chairperson created an opportunity for sailors young and old to experience racing and further their craft.
He was also a member of the Society of Plastic Engineers [SPE] and the Barnegat Bay Yacht Racing Association [BBYRA].
The Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, Central Avenue, Seaside Park, is in charge of the arrangements. No funeral service is scheduled.
Family and friends gathered at the Seaside Park Yacht Club on Tuesday, at 6:12 p.m., to celebrate his life.

Charlene Nicole Pisatowski Redling
Charlene Nicole Pisatowski Redling, 45, of Point Pleasant, passed away, Monday, June 21, at her home.
Born in Paterson, Charlene was raised in Wayne and lived in Point Pleasant for 15 years.
She was a graduate of Northwestern University, Evanston, Ill., and was currently pursuing her professional engineer license.
Charlene worked as a civil engineer for AT&T, Merck and Waste Management.
She enjoyed skiing, tennis and gardening.
She was predeceased by her father, Albert J. Pisatowski.
Surviving are her husband, Lawrence J. Redling; her mother and stepfather, Jeanne Pisatowski and Peter White, of Wayne; two sisters, her twin Jacqueline Pisatowski and her fiancé, David Hines, and Denise Schmitt and her husband, David; two nephews, Stephen and Thomas; and many dear friends.
Relatives and friends may visit from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Monday, June 28, at the Pable-Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road.
At 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 29, a Liturgy of Christian Burial
will be celebrated at St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, Forman and Saint Louis avenues, Point Pleasant Beach, followed by interment at St. Anne Cemetery, Wall Township.

Arthur A. Knorr
Spring Lake Heights resident Arthur A. Knorr II died Tuesday, May 29, after a long struggle with Mesothelioma, the lung cancer caused by Industrial Asbestos.
He was 81 years old.
Al Knorr was born and raised in Elizabeth, to Cecilia Hynes- Knorr and Arthur A. Knorr, I. He attended St Patrick’s RC Parish, both elementary and high school, Elizabeth.
Al is survived by his wife of 32 years, Joan McGinnis-Knorr; his son, Mark C. Knorr; daughter-in-law, Rosemary; three grandchildren, Amber Knorr, of Barnegat, and Kathleen and Christopher, of Cranford.
Al is also survived by his brother, Edward Knorr, of Punta Gorda, Fla., and nieces and nephews, Edward and Thomas.
Al was one of the “Greatest Generation, ” having served his country in the United States Navy during WW II, in the Pacific Arena. Al was in the SEABEES [Construction Battalion] serving in Guam, and the Marshall Islands. In 2006, Al received an Honorary American Flag from the Naval Observatory in Washington, with accompanying certificates and commendations for his service in the Pacific Theater 1943-1946.
Following his military service, Al returned to Elizabeth, worked for a time with Phelps Dodge and then spent 33 years with Union Carbide in the Linde Division, of Industrial Gases.
Visiting will be today, Thursday, May 31, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m., at the O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall.
Mass of Christian Burial
will be on Friday, 11 a.m., at St. Catharine’s RCC, in Spring Lake.
Entombment will be at St. Catharine’s Cemetery, in Wall.

Maureen Hynes
Bowie, Maryland resident Maureen O’Grady Hynes, died peacefully Tuesday, May 22, succumbing to breast cancer. She grew up in Manasquan, and also leaves behind many loved ones, that live there.
She was 47 years old.
Maureen attended the Marie H. Kalzenback School for the Deaf in West Trenton; and received a bachelor’s degree in 1982 from Gallaudet University, in Washington, D.C. and a master’s degree in 1990 from McDaniel College in Westminster, Md.
She worked fro the Salk Institute in La Jolla, Calif., as a research assistant in language and cognitive studies. Until becoming ill, she was an assistant professor in American Sign Language and Deaf Culture at Anne Arundel Community College in Maryland.
Maureen is author of a textbook, Understanding the Language of the Deaf World. She enjoyed traveling, especially in England and Ireland, and enjoyed cooking southern dishes. She loved her Irish heritage, Jim’s Louisiana roots, deaf culture and teaching American Sign Language.
Maureen is survived by her husband of nearly 20 years, James H. Hynes Jr.; two children, Elizabeth O’Grady Hynes and Jeb Hynes; her parents, Raymond and Lucille O’Grady, of Whiting; two sisters, Lucinda Batch and her husband, Richard Batch, of Del Mar, Calif., and Diana Meade and her husband David Meade, of Manasquan.
Visiting hours will be on Friday, June 1, at Robert Evans Funeral Home, 1600 Annapolis Road, Bowie, Md., from 3 until 9 p.m.
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Saturday. June 2, at St. Pius X Catholic Church, 14720 Annapolis Road.
Burial
will be in RoseLawn Memorial Cemetery, Baton Rouge, La., at a future date.
