Joseph A. Thompson
Las Vegas, Nev., resident Joseph A. Thompson, whose sister lives in Point Pleasant, died Sunday, Feb. 18 in Sunrise Medical Center, Las Vegas, Nev.
He was 49 years old.
Born in Kearny, Mr. Thompson was raised in Little Ferry and moved to Las Vegas one and one-half years ago.
He was employed as a printer with Blue Ocean, Inc., Las Vegas, Nev.
Surviving are his parents, Anthony and Marie Thompson, Toms River; one brother and sister-in-law, Patrick and Cheryl Thompson, Middletown; three sisters and two brothers-in-law, Kathleen Steinmetz Knese and Paul Knese, Marlton, Maureen Thompson, Point Pleasant, and Ann and Stephen Kaczala, Normandy Beach; and his nieces and nephews, Kaytee, Caitlin, T.J., and Jack.
Funeral arrangements were from the Colonial Funeral Home, Brick. Cremation was private.
Contributions in Mr. Thompson's memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
Margot Ann Sommers
Leisure Village East, Lakewood, resident Margot Ann Rice Sommers, formerly of Point Pleasant Beach, died Monday, Feb. 26.
She was 72 years old.
Born in Newark, Mrs. Sommers resided there until 1948, as well as in Avon and in Point Pleasant Beach, moving to Lakewood in 1994.
She was a graduate of St. Rose High School, Belmar, and Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School, New York City.
She was a legal secretary in Toms River for many years and a judicial secretary at the Monmouth County Courthouse, Freehold, for nine years with Milton H. Gelzer, JSC retired, and Patrick J. McGann Jr., JSC retired, until her retirement in 2001.
She was predeceased by her parents, James J. and Mae M. Rice.
Surviving are two daughters and one son-in-law, Kathleen Sommers, Trenton, and Susan and James Skeans, Clarksburg; and her former husband, Edward C. Sommers, Lakewood.
Funeral arrangements are from the Pable-Evertz Funeral Home, Point Pleasant. Friends may call from 3 to 6 p.m. today in the funeral home where a Christian Wake Service will be held at 6 p.m. Interment
in St. Catharine's Cemetery, Sea Girt, will be held privately.

Alice Burgoyne
Point Pleasant resident Alice Burgoyne died Saturday, Feb. 24 in Laurelton Village Nursing Home, Brick Township.
She was 89 years old.
Born in Linden, Mrs. Burgoyne lived in South Plainfield before moving to Point Pleasant 36 years ago.
She was a homemaker.
She a member of St. Martha's Church, Point Pleasant, and was a past president of St. Martha's Rosary Altar Society, a member of Senior Beehive and Glorious Years at St. Martha's Church.
She was a member of BPOE Elks No. 1698 Ladies Auxiliary, and was a volunteer of 14 years at Point Pleasant Hospital.
She will be sorely missed by her friends and family for her charity and good humor. Her smile was like a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day.
She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas Burgoyne, in 1985, and a son, Thomas Burgoyne Jr.
Surviving are two sons, Greg Burgoyne, Ottsville, Pa., and John Burgoyne, Point Pleasant; a daughter, Mary Ellen O'Connor, Bethlehem Township; nine grandchildren, Courtney, Eric, Michael, Lauren, Patrick, Michael, Kerry, Jesse and Justin; and a great-grandson, Quinn.
Funeral arrangements were from the Van Hise & Callagan Funeral Home, Point Pleasant Beach. Burial
was in Ocean County Memorial Park, Toms River.

Constance H. O’Neill
Red Bank resident Constance H. O’Neill, whose daughter lives in Point Pleasant, died Tuesday, Feb. 20 in Red Bank.
She was 64 years old.
Born in Long Branch, Constance lived most of her life in the Red Bank area.
She was employed with the Red Bank Veterinary Hospital, Tinton Falls.
Connie's daughter and grandsons were the greatest joys in her life. She loved them above all else. She will be remembered as having a huge heart that touched each and every person she encountered. This kind, intelligent, beautiful woman will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
She was predeceased by her brother, Rodney.
Surviving are her daughter, Taya M. Petino and her husband Jeffrey J. Grose, Point Pleasant; and her two grandsons, Casey Anthony Petino and Korey Rian Petino.

Joe M. Hinesly
Winter Haven, Fla., resident Joe M. Hinesly, formerly of Point Pleasant Beach, died Sunday, Feb. 25, in his home from cancer.
He was 82 years old.
Born in Manila, Ark., Mr. Hinesly came to Winter Haven from Point Pleasant Beach in 1989.
He was employed as a computer systems analyst.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Bernice Hinesly; two daughters and sons-in-law, Susan and Jay Harbort, Tinton Falls, and Sherry and Tim Loftus, Alexandria, Va.; two sisters, Iantha Crigler, Norwalk, Calif., and Rosenel Bequette, Troy, Mo.; four granddaughters; and two grandsons.
Funeral arrangements were from the Ott-Laughlin Funeral Home, Auburndale, Fla.

Capt. Mark Skon
Point Pleasant Beach resident Capt. Mark “Baron” Skon, died Monday, Feb. 19 in his residence in Manahawkin.
He was 39 years old.
Mark was born Feb. 24, 1967, in Staten Island, N.Y.
He had been commercial fishing for 22 years on scallop boats up and down the east coast of the United States. A renowned captain, whom was known by all to have always found the fish.
Mark will be sorely missed, as anybody that knew him loved him and had nothing but good to say.
Surviving are his wife, Kim, and son, Tyler, Seaford, Va.; his mother, Ethel; his father, Richard; three brothers, Robert, Charlie, and Gregory; two sisters, Karen and Donna; and many nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements were from the Maxwell Funeral Home, Manahawkin.
Harold J. Peters
Point Pleasant resident Harold J. “Pete” Peters died Monday, Feb 26 in Claremont Care Center, Point Pleasant.
He was 91 years old.
Born in New York City, Mr. Peters was formerly of Jersey City and Belmar, residing in Point Pleasant for three years.
He was a retired millwright and had been employed with Curtiss-Wright, Wood-Ridge, for 30 years.
Surviving are his beloved wife of nearly 65 years, Anne Cannon Peters; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Joseph and Joan Peters, Venice, Fla., Martin Peters, Toms River, and Donald and Elaine Peters, East Rutherford; one daughter and son-in-law, Katherine and Bill Newby, Point Pleasant; seven grandchildren, Melanie, Brian, Stephanie, Susan, Jaime, Kelly and Scott; and five great-grandchildren, Anthony, Brian, Catie, Hunter and Logan.
Funeral arrangements are from the Pable-Evertz Funeral Home, Point Pleasant. A Liturgy of Christian Burial
will be celebrated at 11 a.m. today in St. Peter's Church, Point Pleasant Beach, with interment following in St. Anne's Cemetery, Wall Township. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
Ruth Coyman Veprek
Point Pleasant Beach resident Ruth Coyman Veprek died Friday, Feb. 23.
Formerly of Hackensack, Mrs. Veprek moved to Point Pleasant Beach in 1982.
She was a past member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Third Reformed Church, Hackensack.
She was a past member of the BPO Elks, No. 1698, Ladies Auxiliary, Point Pleasant; The Old Guard; and the Tradewinds Chapter of the Deborah Hospital Foundation.
She was predeceased in 1989 by her husband, Captain John Veprek Sr.
Surviving are her loving children, John and Ellen Veprek, and Craig and Marianne Veprek, all of Point Pleasant; her grandchildren, Janet and Ryan Magley, Diana and Kiernan Moran, and David, Paul, Mary Ellen, and Katie Veprek; and five great-grandchildren, Jake, Lauren, Bryan, Kate, and Emma.
