Norris [Pat] D. Kirms
Norris [Pat] D. Kirms of Toms River, with family in Wall Township, died on Saturday, Oct. 17.

Born in New York, she moved to Bradley Beach as a child. A graduate of the Asbury Park High School Class of 1941, she also lived in Wall Township before moving to Toms River 10 years ago.

She was predeceased by her parents, Stanley Dukiet and Ada Compton Dukiet.

Mrs. Kirms is survived by her beloved husband of 59 years Albert G. Kirms of Toms River, her children Kathryn McCann of Whiting, Patricia Stealey of Norfolk, Va., A. Williams Kirms of Brick, and James Kirms of Wall. Mrs. Kirms is also survived by her sister Deborah Thomas of Manasquan, seven grandchildren and four great grand-children.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, Oct. 24, from 2 to 4 p.m., followed by a 4 p.m. service at the Johnson-McGinley Funeral Home, 2652 Highway 138 Wall Township, adjacent to the Rt. 18 north entrance.

In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Mrs. Kirms can be made to The Deborah Hospital 200 Trenton Road, Brown Mills, NJ 08015.

Timothy M. McCreavy
Glenside, Pa. and Manasquan resident Timothy M. McCreavy died Friday, Oct. 9.

He was 49 years old.

He was predeceased by his mother, Rosemarie. He is survived by his father, Richard J. McCreavy, Sr., and his wife Karen, his brother, Richard J. McCreavy, Jr., and his wife, Anita, brother, John G. McCreavy, and sister, Kelly A. McEvoy and her husband, Thomas. He was also the devoted uncle of James, Jackie, Sean and Grace.

William R. May Funeral Home, Glenside, Pa., was in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Meridian Affiliated Foundations, 4900 Rt. 33, Suite 100, Neptune, NJ 07743, would be appreciated by his family.

Patricia Ann [Cully] Sabatino
Wall Township resident Patricia Ann [Cully] Sabatino died Sunday, Oct. 18, at her home.

She was 70 years old.

Pat was born in Newark, on Oct. 23, 1938, to Elsie and Tom Cully. She lived in Newark and then Union. She married her high school sweetheart Ralph Sabatino Jr. in 1960, they were married for 49 years.They moved to Wall Township 45 years ago. Pat was a loving wife and mother, as well as a devoted caregiver for over 40 years to her special needs child, Maureen. All will remember her exceptional cooking talents and holiday family gatherings; she touched the lives of many and will be missed by all.

Surviving are her husband, Ralph Sabatino Jr.; her daughters, Geraldine Keale and her husband, John Jr. of Wall Township, Patricia DeBlasio and her husband, Tony of Toms River, and Maureen Sabatino of Wall Township, her son, Ralph Sabatino, III and his wife, Julie of Wall Township; her sisters, Geraldine McKeon and her husband, John of Florida and Maureen Barresi and her husband, Joseph of California. She was especially proud of her nine grandchildren, Lauryn, John, Alicia, Kathleen, Ralph IV, Connor, Anthony, Nicolette and Erica. She is also survived by seven nieces and nephews and ten great nieces and nephews.

A memorial mass was held at St. Mark's Catholic Church, Sea Girt.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to either the Monmouth County ARC - 1158 Wayside Rd. Tinton Falls, NJ 07712 or the Ocean County ARC - 815 Cedar Bridge Rd. Lakewood, NJ 08701.

Mary B. McGowan
Wall Township resident Mary B. McGowan [nee Murphy] died Tuesday, Oct. 13, peacefully in her home.

She was 78 years old.

Born in the Bronx to Irish immigrants Eugene “Owen” and Julia O’Donoghue Murphy, she attended Blessed Sacrament Grammar School in the Bronx and graduated from St. Vincent Ferrer High School in Manhattan. Mrs. McGowan was a devoted and loving friend, wife, mother and grandmother, and will be deeply missed for her kindness, wisdom and humor.

She was predeceased by her parents, her beloved husband, John T. McGowan, and a sister, Patricia Griffin.

She is survived by her daughters, Catherine Yoskowitz and her husband, Bob of Whitehouse Station, and Julia Stewart and her husband Joe of Howell; sons, Michael and his wife, Jennie of Oak Park, Ill., Thomas and his wife, Cathy of Pacific Palisades, Calif., and Dennis and his wife, Maria of Toms River. She also leaves her loving grandchildren, Christopher, Molly, Owen, Andrew, Mark, Sean, Will, Lauren, Mary, Ryan and Alec; her sisters Margaret Hill, Goshen, N.Y.; Sheila Lawrence, Rockville Center, N.Y.; and Kathleen Lamberti and her husband Gerry, Mission Hills, Kan.; her sisters-in-law Margie Oyer, Gladys Maxwell and Lillian Coughlan; and a brother-in-law, William Griffin, Brightwaters, N.Y. In addition, she leaves many wonderful nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and neighbors.

Mrs. McGowan was a member of the Women of Irish Heritage and was a communicant and, in healthier times, a volunteer at Holy Innocents parish in Neptune.

O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall, was in charge of arrangements.

Committal followed at St. Anne’s cemetery in Wall.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson’s Disease Foundation, 1359 Broadway, Suite 1509, New York, NY 10018.

Frances Echandi
Farmingdale resident Frances Piasecki Echandi, with family in Wall Township, died Sept. 26 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.

She was 78 years old.

She was a C.N.A. at the United Methodist Nursing Home in Ocean Grove, and a home health aide for an additional five years.

She was predeceased by her parents, Dora and John Blasco, and three sons: Robert Williams, Richard Piasecki and Alan Piesecki.

She is survived by her husband, Augustine Echandi, four sons, Anthony Piasecki, of West Virginia, Paul and Mary Anne Piasecki, Lakewood, Rodney Piasecki, New Lisbon, and Michael Piasecki, Farmingdale, and three daughters, Patricia Zielinski, East Windsor, Jane and Tom DiDonato, Wall, and Patti Horton, Garfield, as well as 16 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

Cremation was private.

Her life was a struggle, but she never complained. Her slumber with the Lord is glorious.

Frederick K. Gibson
Tinton Falls resident Frederick K. Gibson, with family in Manasquan and Brielle, died Thursday, Oct. 15, at Renaissance Gardens, Seabrook Village, Tinton Falls.

He was 86 years old.

Fred was one of seven children born to Anne M. and Frank C. Gibson in Freehold.

He is predeceased by his parents; a sister, Mary; and two brothers, Joseph and George. He is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Margaret; brothers, Frank, Leonard and Roger Gibson.

He met Margaret while they were both working for the Signal Corps in Shark River Hills. He went on to serve in the U.S. Navy during World War II as a First Class Radio Operator in the North Atlantic. After his tour of duty, he joined the family business, Frank C. Gibson, Inc., in Freehold. They went on to have six children: Sally Kowalski, Freehold, Kathleen Gibson, Boulder, Colo., Ellen Dana, Manasquan, Meg Gibson, Columbia, Mo., Jimi Gibson, Arvada, Colo., and Joann Roddy, Brielle. They have 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

Higgins Memorial Home, Freehold, was in charge of arrangements.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Salvation Army [440 W. Nyack Road, West Nyack, N.Y., 10994-1739] or The Alzheimer’s Association [225 N. Michigan Avenue, Fl. 17, Chicago, Ill., 60601-7633] would be greatly appreciated.

Mark James Goss
Mark James Goss, a lifelong resident of Wall Township and a 2007 graduate of Wall Township High School, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 15, in Williamsport, Pa. He was 20 years old.

A determined and impressive young man, Mark was hard working and focused on his education. An electronics and computer engineering-technology major with Certifications in Robotics and Nano Technology, Mark’s diligence put him in the top 10 percent of his sophomore class at the Pennsylvania College of Technology in Williamsport, Pa.

A multi-faceted individual, Mark held many passions close to his heart. As comfortable in the water as on land, he was an avid surfer, going wherever the waves were. Mark also loved hunting, archery and paintball and held a Black Belt in Okinawa Ishinryu Karate, mentored by the J.H. Kim’s Dojo in Wall. He was ranked 9th nationally in the prime of his practice. Mark was also an able musician and studied the violin at one time at Rowan University. Everyone’s favorite electronics guru and the family’s resident Macgyver, Mark will be sorely missed.

Mark was an amazing brother to Annie and Jamie, a great friend to Charlie Wooley, Matt Zillante, Ryan Henderson, Gavin, Gabrielle and Delaney D’Elia. Mark was intelligent, independent and, most of all, the best son James and Sueanne Goss could ever have hoped for.

He is also survived by his paternal grandfather Lloyd Goss.

The O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall, was in charge of arrangements.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held this morning, Thursday, Oct. 22, at 11 a.m. at the Church of St. Rose, Belmar. Committal will be private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to establish the Mark J. Goss Memorial Foundation, c/o 57 S. Main St. Box # 111, Neptune, NJ 07753.

Marian J. Moratis
Wall Township resident Marian J. Moratis died Tuesday, Oct. 13, at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.

She was 79 years old.

Born in Bradley Beach, Mrs. Moratis relocated to Wall Township 54 years ago. She was employed as a telephone operator for AT&T from 1945 to 1985, retiring in 1985 after 40 years of service. She was also a Past member of the Bradley Beach Methodist Church Choir, a member of the AT&T Pioneers and an avid traveler throughout the U.S.

Mrs. Moratis was predeceased by her husband Jack in 1986, her sister Almeda Smith, and her brother Fred Brown. She was the loving mother of John and his wife Linda Moratis of Middletown, Michael Moratis of Wall, Connie and her husband Robert Carfano of San Jose, Calif., Marie White of Wall and her dear sister Alice Maire of Red Bank. She was also the devoted grandmother of Christopher, David, Matthew, Stephen, Allison, John, Gregory and Great grandmother to Fenix and Gryphin.

The Johnson McGinley Funeral Home, Wall, was in charge of arrangements.

Internment was at the Hamilton Cemetery.

Contributions in Mrs. Moratis’s name may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1035 Hooper Avenue, Toms River, NJ 08753.

Elizabeth S. Finn
Spring Lake resident Elizabeth S. Finn died Saturday, Oct. 17, at her daughter’s home in Sea Girt.

She was 86 years old.

Mrs. Finn was a homemaker and previously worked as a secretary at Gulf Oil in New York City for 17 years and at Thomas Madigan ESQ in Belmar. She was a communicant of St. Catharine’s RC Church in Spring Lake, a member of the Spring Lake Democratic Club, Spring Lake Women’s Club and the Spring Lake Bridge Club. She was a Girl Scout Leader in Spring Lake and was on the Candlelight Ball Committee at St. Catharine’s Church. Mrs. Finn had a tremendous love and affection for her family, friends and the entire Spring Lake Community. Some of her fondest memories included playing tennis with friends at Marucci Park and sitting on the porch with her husband and neighbors. Born and raised in St. Louis, Mo., she met the love of her life, the late Daniel Edmund Finn, in New York City and moved to Spring Lake in 1959 where they resided for 47 years.

She was predeceased by her husband Daniel Edmund Finn in 2007.

She is survived by her son Daniel E. Finn Jr. and his wife Donna of Sea Girt, daughter Kathleen Molyneaux and her husband George also of Sea Girt, six grandchildren Chelsea, Suzanne and Sean Molyneaux and Shane, Kelli, and Dylan Finn. She also leaves her brother in law Martin P. Finn of Larchmont, N.Y., and nephews Martin Finn Jr of Montgomery, Al., and Christopher ”Kirby” Finn of Rochester, N.Y.

O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall, was in charge of arrangements. Burial was at St. Catharine’s cemetery in Sea Girt. Donations may be made to the Randy Marks Foundation or to the Spring Lake Sea Girt Little League.

Robert Barraud
Robert Barraud of Wall Township died suddenly on Oct. 19 at his home.

He was 88 years old.

Born in New York City he moved to Wall Township with his family at the age of two, remaining a life long resident. He graduated from Manasquan High School in 1941 and was a Veteran of World War II, Mr. Barraud served with the United States Navy on the North Atlantic Destroyer in the South Pacific. A member of the Police Benevolent Association Local 50 he served as a member of the Belmar Police Department during which time he was responsible for the Juvenile Division, following his retirement he worked as a Union Carpenter with Local 2250 of Red Bank.

Mr. Barraud believed in service to the community, he served as a long time member of the Belmar Volunteer Fire Company serving a term as Fire Chief, he also served as a Volunteer with the Good Will Hose Company also of Belmar. Mr. Barraud was a member of the Belmar Police Pistol Shooting Team taking part in competitions throughout the United States, and donating the trophies to the police department.

He was predeceased by his parents Earnest Barraud and Florence McCallion Barraud, a brother Earnest Barraud Sr., and his beloved wife Doris Keiderling Barraud in 1991. Mr. Barraud is survived by his sisters Frances Ober and Florence Dooley, nieces Grace Taylor, Carol Lewis, and Karen Barraud, a nephew Earnest Barraud Jr., and sister-in-law Edith Barraud. Mr. Barraud is also survived by his cherished companion and childhood friend Jeannie Riker, along with many extended family members and friends.

Visitation will be held on Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. at the Johnson -McGinley Funeral Home, 2652 Highway 138, Wall Township, adjacent to the Rt. 18 north entrance. On Saturday funeral services will be offered at 9:30 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Ben Foley officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Atlantic View cemetery Forest Avenue, Manasquan. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Mr. Barraud can be made to the Belmar PBA Local 50, 601 Main Street, The Belmar Volunteer Fire Company, 11th Avenue, or the Belmar Volunteer First Aid Squad, 9th Avenue, Belmar, N.J. 07719. Donations may also be made to the Monmouth County SPCA, PO Box 93, Eatontown, N.J. 07724.
