Mary Twyford Laszlo
Wall resident Mary Twyford Laszlo died Sunday, Feb. 1 in Gateway Care Center, Eatontown.
She was 82 years old.
She had been employed as a school teacher in New York City for her entire career. Along with her late husband Andrew, they had been breeders of English Bulldogs for many years. She was born in Staten Island, N.Y. and had been a resident of Wall Township for over 35 years. She was an avid gardener and had a barn at her former home on Remsen Mill Road, where she took in many types of animals including horses, sheep and one pig which she found in the road near her home.
She was predeceased by her husband Andrew, thirty years ago, and her parents Edward and Mary [Walsh] Twyford.
Surviving is her daughter Honora Price and her husband George of Alexandria, Va., her two grandchildren Georgia and David Price, her two brothers Edward Twyford of Denton, Texas, and Michael Twyford of Winterhaven, Fla., and her dear sister Betty Cousins of Wall, four cousins that she was very close to; Mary and Steve Musso of New Egypt, and Grace and Charlie Hall of Virgina, her nieces and nephew Gordon Cousins and his wife Susan, Mary True Cousins and Elizabeth Cousins, and a close family friend Bill Clifford of Palm Springs, Calif.
Relatives and friends are invited to call today from 7-9 p.m. at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Route 35 at New Bedford Road, Wall. A Mass of Christian Burial
will be offered on Friday, Feb. 6 at 10 a.m. at Holy Innocents Church, 3455 West Bangs Avenue, Neptune. Burial

Florence Eleanor Hermansson
Brick resident Florence Eleanor Hermansson, who has family in Wall, died Saturday, Jan. 24 in Ocean Medical Center, Brick.
She was 85 years old.
Born in Providence, R.I., Florence lived in Brooklyn, N.Y. and Irvington, before moving to Brick 52 years ago. Florence was an avid line dancer and was active member of the Bee Hive Line Dancers which met at St. Martha’s Church, Point Pleasant. She was also a member of the Ladies Auxiliary for VFW 8867, Brick, and VFW Arrowhead Post 5698, Brick.
Florence was predeceased by her husband Morgan Kay Hermansson in 1991.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Frank DiLorenzo of Brick, two sons and daughters-in-law, Frank and Linda Courvoisier, Manasquan, and Donald and Kathleen Hermansson, Waretown. Florence is also survived by five grandchildren, Leonard, Sara, Stephanie and her husband Joao, Dana Noel and Lauren Ashley; two great-grandchildren Lenny and Allison; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Esther Anderson of Long Island, N.Y., Frances Hansen of Wall, and Ruth and Alfred Meliere of Paramus.
Relatives and friends were invited to call at the Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan. A funeral service was held at the home during the visitation. Internment was private. Irene Swensen Black
Manasquan resident Irene Swensen Black died Monday, Feb. 2.
She was 77 years old.
A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she was born and raised in West Orange, the youngest child of Agvald I. Swensen and Thora Aamont. Irene graduated from Kathryn Gibbs. Early in her career, she was secretary to the Human Resources Department at the Schering Corp. She grew up spending summers at the Jersey Shore, where she met her husband Bill. After lovingly raising her family in West Caldwell, she moved to Monmouth County and worked at the Monmouth County Dept. of Social Services. More recently, she and Bill moved to Manasquan, where she had been an inspired member and Deacon of First Presbyterian Church, Manasquan; active member of Women’s Club and Manasquan Sea Lavender Garden Club.
She was predeceased by her sister Mildred Turner in 2003.
Irene is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Bill, and three children, Douglas Black and his wife Margie of Dana Point, Calif., Robert Black and his wife Paula of Manasquan, and Carolyn Black, also of Manasquan; four grandchildren, Parker and McKenzie Black of Manasquan, and Leanne and Lauren Black of Dana Point. She is also survived by two sisters, Thelma Liljestrand of Wawa, Pa., Cynthia Zapp of Quakertown, Pa., and one brother, Norman Swensen of New Smyrna Beach, Fla.
The wake will be held at O’Brien Funeral Home, Route 35, Wall, on Thursday, Feb. 5 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will be held Friday, Feb. 6 in Fellowship Hall at the First Presbyterian Church, 16 Virginia Avenue, Manasquan at 11 a.m.

Beverly A. Conover
Point Pleasant and Stuart, Fla. resident Beverly A. Conover died Saturday, Jan. 24 in Martin Memorial Medical Center in Stuart, Fla. She formerly lived in Spring Lake.
She was 69 years old.
She was born in Rahway and was a winter resident of Stuart, Fla. for 15 years, coming from Point Pleasant. Prior to moving to Point Pleasant she was a longtime resident of Bay Head and Spring Lake.
She was a member of the Bay Head Yacht Club, The Bay Head Business Association, Seaweeders Garden Club, Women’s Club of Point Pleasant Beach, Woman’s Auxiliary of Bay Head Fire Company, and was one of the founders and member of the New Jersey Bed & Breakfast Association. She also served on the Ocean County Tourism Council for many years.
She and her husband, Carl, owned and operated the Conover’s Bay Head Inn for 30 years.
She was predeceased by her son, Timothy J. Conover; and her mother, Irene Thomas.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Carl Conover; her father, Ralph Thomas, of Margate, Fla.; her son, Christopher E. Conover, of Jacksonville, Fla.; and her sister, Ruth Sachs, of Long Island, N.Y.

Jay B. Watley
Hollywood, Fla. resident Jay B. Watley, who has family in Belmar, died Monday, Jan. 12 in his home.
He was 47 years old.
Mr. Watley was born in Stillwater, Okla. to Norman and Barbara [Wall] Watley. He was raised in Neptune City, graduating from Neptune High School in 1979. He moved to Florida in 1990 and pursued a successful career as an electrician and alarm installation specialist.
He was predeceased by his father, Norman Watley, in 2005.
He is survived by his mother, Barbara Watley of Pryor, Okla., and three sisters and their spouses: Ronda and Dennis Thilo of Placerville, Calif., Linda and Michael Fleetwood of Millsboro, Del., and Jeane Watley and Jay Spadaro of Belmar. He also leaves behind four beloved nieces, Jennifer Mulvaney, Jessica Kane, Brooke Fleetwood and Sara Pyle, one nephew Jonathan Fleetwood, and one great-nephew Tobiah Kane.
In addition to his family, Jay is survived by a multitude of friends who considered him their brother. Jay had the unique ability to connect with any stranger. He was unfailingly generous with his time, his talents, his opinions and most memorably, his trademark sense of humor.
A service to celebrate Jay’s life will be held on Saturday, Feb. 28 at 2 p.m. at the First Presbyterian Church, 9th and E Street, Belmar. Hawaiian shirts are preferred, though not required. Messages of condolence for family may be left at http://memoriesofjaywatley.shutterfly.com.
Richard “Dick” Napoliton
Wall resident Richard "Dick" Napoliton, died on Feb. 3 at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.
He was 77 years old.
Born in Spring Lake he remained a life long resident of the shore area.
Mr. Napoliton was employed as a Police Dispatcher with the Wall Township Police Department for 21 years before retiring in 1991. He was a proud member of the Spring Lake Volunteer Fire Company since 1956 and was awarded life member status for his years of dedicated service.
Mr. Napoliton immersed himself in the history of Wall Township, having written a book on the history of the Wall Township Police Department, and a book on the history of Wall Township.
He was predeceased by his parents Frank Napoliton and Charlotte Woolley Napoliton, and his brother Donald Napoliton.
Mr. Napoliton is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years Grace Dinkjian Napoliton, his devoted children Danny Napoliton and his wife Kathie of Wall Township, and Gail Wilson and her husband Brent of Bethlehem, Georgia, his dear sister Jane Fath and her husband Jay. Also surviving are his loving grandchildren Rick Maellaro and his wife Tamara, Lori Maellaro, Brian Napoliton, and Danielle Napoliton, and his special great grand daughter Elizabeth Grace Maellaro. In addition to his brother and sister in-laws, his many nieces, and nephews, and many good friend’s whose friendship he cherished over the years.
Visitation will be held on Friday from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. with a Firemen’s Service at 7:30 p.m. at the Johnson-McGinley Funeral home 2652 Highway 138, Wall. On Saturday, funeral services will be offered 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Brian Eble of the First United Methodist Church of Oakhurst officiating. Interment
will follow at Glendola cemetery Belmar Blvd, Wall Township.
William C. Meldrum
Point Pleasant resident William C. Meldrum, who has family in Manasquan, died Tuesday, Jan. 27 in Ocean Medical Center, Brick.
He was 54 years old.
Mr. Meldrum was born and raised in Point Pleasant. He was a commercial fisherman, captain and part owner of the Lydia J. fishing boat in Point Pleasant Beach. He was also a share member of the Point Pleasant Fisherman’s Cooperative in Point Pleasant Beach.
Mr. Meldrum loved NASCAR and was a big fan of the Minnesota Vikings.
He is predeceased by his mother and father, William and Mary Lou Meldrum; and his stepmother, Anna Jane Meldrum.
He is survived by his wife, the former Isabel O’Donovan; two brothers, Craig, of Howell Township and David Robert, of Point Pleasant; five sisters, Linda and Carol Meldrum and Donna Deery, all of Florida, Janet Dzielinksi, of North Dakota and Kathy Meachem, of Brick; an aunt, Mildred Meldrum, of Virginia; his cousins, Harvey Meldrum, of Manasquan and Danny Meldrum, of Virginia; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Viewing hours will be on Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at Colonial Funeral Home, 2170 Highway 88, Brick. A funeral service will be offered on Monday at 10 a.m. at Point Pleasant Presbyterian Church in Point Pleasant Beach. Private cremation will follow.

Lorraine Theresa Townsend
Wall resident Lorraine Theresa Townsend died Sunday, Jan. 25 in Jersey Shore University Medical Center after a courageous 14 year battle with cancer.
She was 54 years old.
Born in Jersey City, Lorraine grew up in Bayonne, lived in Lyon, France for a short time and then moved to Wall Township where she raised two sons. She held a master’s degree in psychiatric nursing from NYU and was Clinical Director at Embracing Hospice Care, Wall.
As she struggled with her own illness, Lorraine dedicated her professional life to helping others deal with their own mortality through her work in hospice.
Surviving are her husband David, and two sons, David Jr. and Daniel.
All arrangements are private in the care of the Reilly Funeral Home, 801 D St., Belmar. In lieu of flowers, donations to the American Cancer Society, 801 Broad St., Shrewsbury 07702 would be appreciated.
Anita Rita [Judge] Whitehead
Manasquan resident Anita Rita [Judge] Whitehead died Saturday, Jan. 31 in her home surrounded by her loving family.
She was 92 years old.
Anna was a longtime communicant of St. Catharine’s RC Church, Spring Lake, and was also a member of the third order of St. Francis. Born in Providence, R.I., she had lived in Neptune for a short time before moving to Wall Township in 1958. She resided there until moving to Manasquan to live with her daughter three years ago.
She was predeceased by her husband, Col. Arthur V. Whitehead [US Army Ret.] in 1989, her son-in-law Christian Grapel in 2000, and her siblings Mae Mattis, Jack Judge and Josephine Judge.
Surviving are her devoted children Vincent and his wife Maria Whitehead of Atlantic Highlands, Clifford and his wife Mary Beth Whitehead of Wall, and Carolyn Grapel of Manasquan with whom she lived. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
