Martin J. Moran Jr.
Belmar resident Martin J. Moran Jr., whose daughter lives in Point Pleasant, died Tuesday, Dec. 9.

He was 80 years old.

Born in Lyndhurst to Martin and Edna Moran, Martin Jr. had been a longtime resident of the shore area where he helped to raise his three children, Martin III, Patricia and Eileen.

Mr. Moran worked for Eastern Airlines as the chief bursar until his retirement.

Martin is survived by his children, son Martin III and his wife, Angela, of Port Orange, Fla., daughter Patty and her husband, Michael Ligato, of Wall, and daughter Eileen and her husband, Jonathan, of Point Pleasant; as well as his grandchildren, Alyssa, Sara and Aidan.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests the donation of an unwrapped toy to the charity of the donor’s choice.

Arrangements are under the direction of O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall.

Sam Russo
Matawan resident Sam Russo, whose son resides in Point Pleasant, died Sunday, Dec. 14 in Absecon Manor in Absecon.

He was 93 years old.

Sam was an Italian baker for 45 years before retiring. He was born in Newark and resided in Iselin before moving to Matawan 31 years ago.

He was a volunteer at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel, for over 15 years and well loved by everyone at the hospital.

Sam was predeceased by his wife of 51 years, Jennie, in 1988; and a sister, Concetta Siciliano.

He is survived by three sons and daughters-in-law, Rudolph and Eileen Russo and Nick and Joanne Russo, all of Smithville, and Gerald and Susan Russo, of Point Pleasant; a brother, Mario Russo, of Martha’s Vineyard, Mass.; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

The Waitt-Nelms Funeral Home, Morganville, was in charge of arrangements. Entombment took place in the St. Joseph Cemetery, Keyport.

Megan Catherine Amato
Wall resident Megan Catherine Amato died Monday, Dec. 15 in her home.

She was 27 years old.

She touched the lives of everyone who knew her.

She is predeceased by her grandparents, Barbara and Jack DeFriest and Catherine and John Amato.

She is survived by her mother, Carol Amato, and her brother, Jonathan Amato.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, Jan. 3, at the United Methodist Church, South Street, Manasquan at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in Megan’s memory would be appreciated to the New Jersey Chapter of the International Rett Syndrome Foundation, 417 Brickyard Road, Freehold 07728. Funeral arrangements will be under the direction of the O’Brien Funeral Home in Wall.

Christina L. Howington
Roseburg, Ore. resident Christina L. Howington died Saturday, Dec. 6.

She was 35 years old.

Born in Roseburg, Christina lived in Douglas County her entire life. She grew up and attended school in Roseburg, graduating with the class of 1991. She attended the University of Oregon and Lane Community College. Later on she attended Rogue Community College.

Christina was a Senior Administrative Assistant with Mercy Medical Center in Roseburg. She also worked for Farwest Steel in Eugene, Ore., ABCT in Roseburg, and the Rehabilitation Medicine Clinic in Medford, Ore.

Her family and friends were foremost in her life. She enjoyed supporting Alyssa and the whole Roseburg volleyball team. She recently began hunting. Christmas was her time of year.

She is predeceased by grandparents Les Horton, and Mary Louise and Louis Heyniger.

She is survived by a daughter, Alyssa Louise Howington of Roseburg, and husband Heath Howington of Roseburg. She is also survived by parents Cy and Nancy Heyniger of Roseburg, formerly of Belmar, brother Jon Heyniger of Roseburg, sister Sally Swancara of Spokane, Wash., brother and sister-in-law Eric and Cheryl Howington of Roseburg, father and mother-in-law Gary and Kathy Howington of Roseburg, aunt Lois Horton of Seattle, Wash., uncle John Horton of Portland, Ore., uncle Roger Howington of Roseburg, aunt and uncle Gretta and Daryl Mahan of Seritos, Calif., uncle and aunt Donald and Joyce Heyniger of Belmar, grandmother June Horton of Roseburg, and grandparents Vere and Mary Ellen Perry of Roseburg.

A Celebration of Life service was held at the Roseburg Christian Fellowship in Roseburg. Internment will be private at Roseburg Community Gardens in Roseburg. Memorial donations may be made to the Christina Howington Memorial Fund at the Umpqua Bank, 445 SE Main St., Roseburg, Ore. 97424 or to the Cascade Community Credit Union, PO Box 1166., Roseburg, Ore. 97470.

John J. Seyler
Neptune City resident John J. Seyler, formerly of South Orange and Jersey City died Monday, Dec. 1 in his home.

He was 84 years old.

Dr. Seyler was born, raised and educated in Jersey City before serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps as Second Lieutenant during WWII. In 1949, he received a BA from Rutgers University and in 1953 he received a DDS from Georgetown University.

He was a member of the Hudson Dental Association, the American Dental Association, and later in life the Quiet Birdmen [an association of pilots and former pilots].

He maintained active practices of dentistry in Jersey City and South Orange until retiring in 2003 and relocating to Neptune City.

John Joseph, also known as Jack, is predeceased by his parents Charles and Georgina [née Ross] Seyler, his brother Gerald, his daughter Chantal, and his wife of 45 years Claudia [née Jordan] Seyler.

Jack is survived by his loving wife, Doris Albright Wolski, his devoted daughters Monique, Dominique and Martine, step children Maria, Richard and Douglas, and grandchildren Danielle, Matthew, Gabriel and Luke.

Funeral arrangements were handled by McDonough Funeral Home in Manasquan. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at the Church of Saint Elizabeth in Avon.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Jack’s memory may be made to the Catholic Medical Mission Board at 10 West 17th Street, New York, N.Y. 10011.

Deborah A. Roszko
Spring Lake Heights resident Deborah A. Roszko died Friday, Dec. 12 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center in Neptune.

She was 68 years old.

Deborah was born in Summit and raised in Spring Lake Heights. She was a lifelong resident of Spring Lake Heights and has lived in the same house her whole life. Deborah was employed for 20 years as a saleswoman for Stern’s Department Store, which was located at Seaview Square Mall, Ocean Township, and then later moved to Eatontown. Deborah retired from Stern’s to watch her grandchildren. She enjoyed doing her craft work. Deborah shared her craft work with everyone. She made Christmas ornaments, knitted blankets which made great gifts for anyone in the family who went off to college and wedding gifts. Deborah also made the Christening gowns for her grandchildren. She was a communicant of St. Catharine’s Church in Spring Lake and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Manasquan Elks BPOE in the late 1970’s into the early 1980’s. She was a graduate of St. Rose High School, Belmar.

Deborah was predeceased by her mother Eleanor Supseki in 1998, a brother Peter Supeski in 1970, and a son Gregory David Roszko in 1974.

She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Myron “Pat” Roszko of Spring Lake Heights, a son Jeffrey Roszko of Port Orange, Fla.; two daughters and two sons-in-law Jennifer and Alan Brennan of Spring Lake Heights and Melissa and Chris Forbes of Maple Shade; a sister and brother-in-law Susan and Charles Capone of Sea Girt; five granddaughters, Sarah, Maggie, and Mackenzie Brennan, and Madison and Sydney Roszko. Deborah is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Arrangements were handled by Orender Family Home for Funerals, 2643 Old Bridge Road, Manasquan. A Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Catharine’s Church in Spring Lake. Internment followed at Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veteran’s Cemetery, Arneytown. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Meridan Hospice, 1340 A Campus Parkway, Neptune 07753.
