Walter Heuring
Point Pleasant resident Walter Heuring died Monday, Sept. 1, at Ocean Medical Center, Brick.
He was 83 years old.
He was a self-employed transporter in Farmingdale. He was a World War II Navy veteran. Born in Newark, he lived in Farmingdale for many years before moving to Brick three years ago.
He was predeceased by two sons, Richard and Robert Heuring; and a sister, Marion Wynn. Surviving are two daughters, Judith Benette and her husband John of Point Pleasant, and Barbara Peak of Salisbury, Md.; a son, William Heuring of Chicksville, N.Y.; a brother, Thomas Heuring of Virginia. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
The Colonial Funeral Home, Brick was in charge of arrangements.
Robert Paul Vie Brock
Point Pleasant resident Robert Paul Vie Brock peacefully died Monday, Aug. 25, in Ocean Medical Center, Brick, surrounded by his loving family.
He was 79 years old.
He was born June 17, 1929 in Jersey City and raised there by George and Grace Vie Brock, spending many happy summers at the Jersey Shore with his aunts, uncles and cousins.
Bob was a Korean War veteran serving proudly in the U.S. Marine Corps as a staff sergeant. He was wounded in combat twice and was awarded two Purple Hearts and a Distinguished Service Medal during that conflict.
Fiercely patriotic, Bob always flew the American flag and lived the Marine slogan “Semper Fidelis” - Always Faithful.
Following his service to his country, he met the love of his life, Barbara Kitchen, at the beach. They were married
54 very happy years and raised two daughters, Kim and Melissa, in Bridgewater.
Bob was an electrician by trade, but spent many years of his working career as an engineering sales representative with Blake Equipment Co., Englewood Cliffs.
In their active retirement, Bob and Barbara returned to Point Pleasant, where he enjoyed his favorite hobbies, boating, saltwater fishing and radio control airplanes with his friends and family. Bob was a licensed captain and owned many boats, all named the Viking.
He was classified as a master in radio-controlled flying, and was an active member of the Jersey Coast Radio Control Club. His favorite planes were replicas of World War II Warbirds.
Bob was a friend to all and could build or fix anything! Even with his busy schedule, he would always lend a hand to help a friend, neighbor or family member at a moment’s notice. He was outgoing and engaging, sensitive and kind - truly a renaissance man! He loved life and lived it to the fullest.
He is survived by his wife, Barbara; his daughters, Kim and her husband, Ken Jankowitz, of Yardley, Pa., and Melissa G. Murray, of Point Pleasant; and his much-loved granddaughter, Shelby G. Murray, of Bridgewater. He will be greatly missed by his family, friends and neighbors.
Van Hise & Callagan Funeral Home, Point Pleasant Beach, is in charge of arrangements.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 13 at the Point Pleasant Presbyterian Church, Bay Avenue, Point Pleasant Beach.

David Clark
Spring Lake and Staten Island, N.Y. resident David C. Clark, whose sister lives in Point Pleasant, died on Saturday, Aug. 30, in his summer home in Beach Haven, Long Beach Island.
He was 43 years old.
Mr. Clark was a decorated New York City firefighter, whose current assignment was with Ladder 77, of Stapleton, Staten Island. He started his career in the FDNY at Engine 28 in the Lower East Side of New York City and continued onto Engine 69 in Harlem.
On 9-11-2001, Mr. Clark responded with members of his fire company to the terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center. He spent the following months searching and retrieving fellow firefighters, and other victims from Ground Zero.
Two years later, in October 2003, he was first to respond with Ladder 77 to the Staten Island Ferry disaster.
Mr. Clark was also a licensed plumber in both New York, and New Jersey and the owner of DC Clark Plumbing and Heating, also known as Sprung Leak Plumbing. He was a member of the FDNY Emerald Society, and an avid sports fan unique in his love of both the N.Y. Yankees and the Boston Red Sox.
Mr. Clark was a graduate of St. Joseph by the Sea High School on Staten Island, and Mechanics’ Institute in New York City. He was born and raised on Staten Island, and lived in Manhattan several years before moving to Spring Lake five years ago. For 20 years, he also loved to spend summers on Long Beach Island with his family and friends.
Surviving are his loving wife of 16 years, Kristin Dana Clark; his daughter, Emma, 10; his son Kevin, 7; his parents, Daniel Clark, of Charlottesville, Va., and Sandra Mufti, of Staten Island; and his sister, Laura Orecchio, of Point Pleasant. He also leaves a large extended family, including nieces, nephews, in-laws and dear friends.
Burial
was held at Greenwood cemetery in Brielle. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Clark Children Educational Fund, c/o Ladder 77, 74 Broad St., Staten Island, NY 10304.

James Bruno
Point Pleasant resident James Bruno died on Wednesday, Aug. 27, 2008 in his home.
He was 65 years old.
Born in Clifton, he was raised there and was a graduate of Clifton High School. He has lived in Point Pleasant since 1970.
He proudly served his country in the United States Army.
Mr. Bruno had worked as a self-employed builder in the Point Pleasant and Bay Head areas and also owned and operated Point Borough Sports for 17 years.
He had served on the Point Pleasant Borough Recreation Committee and had been both a Little League and travel soccer coach, also in the borough. An avid hunter and fisherman, he was a member of the Central Jersey Rifle and Pistol Club.
He was predeceased by his father, George Bruno.
Surviving to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, of 40 years, Isabelle MacDonald Bruno; two sons and daughters-in-law, James J. and Stacy Bruno, of Perkasie, Pa. and Joseph and Lene Bruno of Brick; his mother, Celia Bruno; his brother and sister-in-law, George and Kathy Bruno; and three grandchildren, Emily, Jack and Olivia, to whom he was truly devoted.
Friends may visit from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday at The Pable - Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, 901 Beaver Dam Road [732-899-3300]. At 10 a.m. on Saturday his funeral service will be held at the funeral home, followed by interment at Greenwood Cemetery, Brielle.

Lorraine V. Devine
Point Pleasant resident Lorraine V. Devine died on Saturday Aug. 30, 2008 in Ocean Medical Center in Brick.
She was 75 years old.
Born and raised in Newark, she came to Point Pleasant 40 years ago.
Mrs. Devine served on the administrative staff at the New Jersey State Police Training Center in Sea Girt before retiring.
She was a communicant of St. Peter’s Church in Point Pleasant Beach and was a devoted wife and mother.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Eugene J. Devine; and her son, John F. Devine.
She is survived by her daughter, Maryann Devine; her sisters, Emily Kroczynski and Ann Gorski; and her brother, Ben Florczak. She also leaves her dear cousin, Sophie LiPira; and many other beloved family members.
The O’Brien Funeral Home, Brick, was in charge of arrangements. Burial
took place at St. Catharine’s Cemetery, Wall.

Rose Maletz Chmura
Lavallette resident Rose Maletz Chmura died Monday, Sept. 1, in Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood.
She was 80 years old.
Born in Passaic, she lived in Mount Holly before moving to Monterey Beach section of Lavallette in 1993. She was a homemaker.
She was a member of the Women of the Moose and a senior regent in Mount Holly.
Surviving are her husband, Theodore; one son, Bruce, of Colorado; two daughters, Carol, of Vermont, and Deborah, of Pennsylvania; and two granddaughters, Stephanie Poust and Samantha Wenrich.
Services are private and under the direction of Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, Lavallette.
John F. McKenna
Manchester resident John F. McKenna, whose sister lives in Point Pleasant, died Monday, Sept. 1 in Community Medical Center, Toms River.
He was 79 years old.
Born in Philadelphia, he was a native of South Orange and he lived in Pompton Plains before moving to Leisure Knoll, Manchester.
Mr. McKenna was a special agent with the FBI for 22 years before retiring. After a distinguished career with the FBI he worked for the State Department and the Agency for International Development.
He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, South Orange, B.P.O. Elks, Manasquan, and the Seton Hall University Alumni Association.
He was predeceased by his wife, Leona, in 2001.
Surviving are his sons, Mark McKenna and Maggie Milton of New York City, and Brian McKenna and his wife, Janice, of Wayne; a sister and brother-in-law Maureen and James Larkin, of Point Pleasant; three grandsons, Brian, Patrick and Terence; his companion, Jackie Wheiler; a niece and several nephews.
Visiting will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Anderson & Campbell Funeral Home, 3010 Ridgeway Road, Manchester. A Funeral Mass will be offered 10 a.m. Saturday at St. John Roman Catholic Church, Lakehurst. Burial
will follow at St. Mary of the Lake Cemetery, Lakewood.
