Edward Krampert
Belmar resident Edward J. Krampert died Monday, Sept. 8 in Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.
He was 80 years old.
Born in Newark, Edward moved to the Jersey Shore area in 1944.
Mr. Krampert served his country as a Fireman 1st Class in the United States Navy during World War II. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal. He served on the USS Aldebaran and USS Vulcan before his discharge in 1947.
Edward is survived by his wife Ellen of eight years; his sons Donald and his wife, Devny, of Hawaii, Tom and his wife, Nancy, of Pennsylvania, Edward, of Brick; his daughter Susan and her husband, Neil, of Toms River; his stepsons Bruce and his wife, Carol, of Barnegat, Matthew and his wife, Jackie, of Pennsylvania, Michael, of Neptune; his stepdaughter Catherine, of Washington; his brother, Donald, and his wife, Marilyn of Wall; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday at the Johnson-McGinley Funeral Home, 2652 Route 138, Wall, [adjacent to the Route 18 North entrance.]
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at the funeral home followed by interment at the Brig. Gen.William C. Doyle cemetery in Arneytown. Notes of condolence may be sent to jmfh2652@aol.com to be forwarded to the family.
Bryan Keane
After a lifetime of love. laughter and friendship, sadly, New Rochelle, N.Y. resident Bryan P. Keane died Sept. 3. He leaves behind many loved ones, including family in Spring Lake.
He was born in New Rochelle on May 31, 1929 to William and Catherine Keane.
He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Catherine. Bryan and Cathy were married
June 3, 1951 at Blessed Sacrament Church in New Rochelle.
A devoted father, Bryan leaves behind his daughters, Susan Ratz, of Spring Lake, Patty and her husband, Rich Lau, of New Milford, Conn., Nancy and her husband, Ken Levy, of Rye Brooke, N.Y., and Ellen and her husband, Kieran Stack, of Poughkeepsie, N.Y.; his son, Bryan and his wife, Sharon, of Oak Island, N.C.; his brothers, Michael and his wife, Susan, John and his wife, Karen, and Matt and his wife, Joan; and numerous nieces and nephews.
What put the twinkle in Bryan’s blue eyes and the kick in his step are his 11 grandchildren, Patrick, Michael and Kaitlin Ratz, Megan, Tom and Jimmy Lau, Bryan and Jennifer Levy, and Kieran, Conor and Emma Stack.
He was predeceased by his son-in-law, Michael Ratz, and his two nephews, Brendan and Kevin Keane. His joy of living will survive him in his many friends, especially Dean Reben and Mario Scarano.
Bryan’s commitment to his family was the catalyst for his 35 years with the New York Telephone Company. He was equally invested in his community. He was an active member of the New Rochelle Youth Bureau, where he served as a commissioner, chairperson and a volunteer for 25 years. He served as a volunteer for many other organizations including Knights of Columbus, since 1955, New Rochelle Little League as a coach and field commissioner, New Rochelle Parks and Recreation women’s and girls’ softball coaches, Mayor’s Task Force on Drug Abuse, District Leader-Republican Party, New Rochelle Board of Appeals on Zoning, member of the New Rochelle Sports Hall of Fame Selection Committee, and numerous political campaigns.
He lived as he liked. He was often seen at ball fields and gymnasiums throughout New York, New Jersey and Connecticut. The list of venues expanded once his grandchildren started going off to college.

Wherever he went, he was able to make and keep lifelong friends, which was particularly evident throughout his illness. The family would like to thank all the amazing people who were immediately, consistently and steadfastly by he and Cathy’s side. They deeply appreciate all the love and support they have received.
In Bryan’s honor, live life to the fullest, enjoy every single day and never miss a game.
Interment was held at Beechwoods Cemetery.

Jerry Weinerman
Toms River and Berkeley Township resident Jerry S. Weinerman, formerly of Wall Township, died unexpectedly on Friday, Sept. 5 in his residence.
He was 74 years old.
Jerry was born in Brooklyn, N.Y. and had resided in Wall Township for many years and then in Brick for 17 years before moving to Toms River four years ago.
Jerry had been employed as a postal worker at the Brielle Post Office for many years. He had also worked as a dispatcher for the Wall Township Police Department and had been a long-standing volunteer for the Wall First Aid and Rescue Squad.
He was also active as a Cub Scout leader in New York and New Jersey and was later the Cubmaster for his grandson’s troop. He personally was a member of the Order of the Arrow with the Scouts. Jerry was also a member of the Monmouth Rifle and Pistol Club and was an avid roller skater at the Jackson Roller Rink.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Mindy Weinerman.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy M. Shaw Weinerman; his sons and their spouses, Irwin and Theresa Weinerman, of Spring Lake Heights, Harvey and Holly Weinerman, of Tinton Falls, his stepson and wife Arthur and Allie Whitehouse, of Toms River; his daughter, Lois Webber and her husband Gregg of Brick; his two brothers and their spouses, Burton and Judy Weinerman, of Henderson, Nev., Alvin and Roslyn Weinerman, of Little River, S.C.; his brother-in-law, Charles Weinstein, of Toms River; and his seven grandchildren, Caroline and Abigail Weinerman, David, Sarah, and Lauren Whitehouse and Olivia and Molly Webber.
Committal was private at the convenience of his family. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to Wall Township First Aid and Rescue Squad, 1900 Monmouth Boulevard, Wall, 07719 or the American Heart Association, 1 Union St., Robbinsville, in his memory.
Gregory Adamo
Phoenix resident Gregory Philip Adamo, formerly of Wall, died July 1.
He was 50 years old.
Born in Orange, Gregory lived in Wall before moving to Phoenix 12 years ago.
Gregory graduated from Wall High School class of 1976. As an athlete in high school, Gregory’s nickname was Rocky, he was a member of the wrestling and baseball teams.
He attended Arizona State College. Gregory was very spiritual and had a strong faith in God which he shared with members in his community. He had a passion for traveling and the outdoors, especially the beach at the Jersey Shore.
He always followed the weather patterns and called frequently to give weather reports.
Gregory was predeceased by his brother, Philip Adamo.
Surviving are his parents, Philip and Joan Adamo; a brother, David; two sisters, Patricia and Gina Lyons and her husband, Michael; a sister-in-law, Diane; six nieces, Jennifer, Jamie, Dari, Devyn, Lauren, Britni; and six nephews, Jason, Joshua, Brett, Philip, Michael and Philip.
A memorial service will be celebrated tomorrow on Friday, Sept. 12 at 10 a.m. at the O’Brien Funeral Home, 2028 Highway 35, Wall.

Richard McClennen
Manasquan resident Richard D. McClennen died unexpectedly, surrounded by his loving family, on Sept. 6 in Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.
He was 73 years old.
Richard was born Sept. 17, 1934, in Norrisville, Pa., and was raised in Teaneck. He was a graduate of Teaneck High School, class of 1952. There, he was an All-State varsity athlete in football and baseball. His winning personality and numerous friendships resulted in him being elected vice president of his graduating class. It was there that “Moose” met the love of his life, Lucy Christine Cilano, to whom he had been married
for 52 years. Richard graduated from Upsala College in 1956 with a degree in business administration.
Richard had an exceptional career as a vice president for Merrill Lynch. He retired after 30 years as office manager from the Hyannis, Cape Cod, Mass., office. Having lived for many years in Brielle, it was then that Moose and Lucy decided to return to the Manasquan Beach to be close to their family and friends. Moose became a member of the Elks. He enjoyed all sports, played golf, loved to garden, cook and sing along with Frank Sinatra, but most of all, he loved to be with his family and friends.
Richard is survived by his loving wife, Lucy; his adoring four daughters; and his nine grandchildren, Beth-Anne Hawkins and her husband, Anthony H. Hawkins and their children, Leigh-Anne and Michael; Patricia A. McLeod and her husband Ponty McLeod and her children, James, Jennah and Julie Trocchia; Donna A. Morgan and her sons, Andrew, Daniel and Nicholas; and Lisa A. Cilento and her daughter Ashley.

Alfred Cholowinski
Neptune resident Alfred Cholowinski died Saturday, Sept. 6 at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, with his devoted family at his bedside. He leaves behind many loved ones, including family in Belmar.
He was 81 years old.
He was born in Lakewood and had been a resident of Neptune since 1953.
Alfred had been employed as a custodian for EAI, Oceanport, for many years before retiring in 1985. He was a talented woodworker and craftsman, but his greatest joy in life came from his family. He cherished the various holidays throughout the year when they were all together. He was a member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Asbury Park.
He was predeceased by his two brothers, Norman and Robert Cholowinski.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Teresa Paternoster Cholowinski; his beloved children, Robert, of Neptune, John and Mona, of Farmingdale, Gail and Kenneth Rogers, of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Donna and Keith Gordon, of Belmar; and his seven grandchildren, Caitlin, Brendan, Max, Sam, Kevin, Rachel and Jenna.
A Mass of Christian Burial
will be held on Thursday Sept. 11 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, Asbury Park. Burial
will be in the New Jersey Veterans Cemetery, Arneytown. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Make A Wish Foundation, 1034 Salem Ave., Union, 07083 in his memory.

Helen Schortz
Spring Lake resident Helen Schortz died Sept. 6 in the Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch, surrounded by her loving family.
She was 84 years old.
She was born in Neptune, to Polish immigrants Fred and Marjana Pawlick. Mrs. Schortz grew up in Asbury Park on Washington Avenue and graduated from Bangs Avenue School.
Mrs. Schortz was employed by Opdyke Awnings for 30 years as a seamstress; she also enjoyed bowling and cooking and was a Cub Scout den mother and volunteer at St. Catharine’s church and school.
Mrs. Schortz was predeceased by her first husband, Lawrence G. Gray, in 1966; her second husband, Joseph Schortz, in 2004; her sisters, Harriet Kistner, Jessie O’Donnell, Jane Falkuski; and her brother, Frank Pawlik.
Mrs. Schortz is survived by her sister, Josephine Cook, of Point Pleasant; her loving children; Laurence Gray and his wife, Patricia, of Oceanport, Louis Gray and his wife, Janice, of Massachusetts, Judy Munday and her husband, Ernie, of Elberon, and Joseph Schortz and his wife, Linda, of Punta Gorda Fla.; devoted grandchildren, Lauren, Joseph, Jason, Tammy, Joel, Justin, Jeremy and Lawrence Gray, and Stacey and Joseph Schortz; and loving nieces and nephews, Helen, Jeff, Richard and Kathleen Cook, and James, Marylou and John Kistner.

John Kowalcyk
Hudson, Fla. resident John Kowalcyk, formerly of Belmar, died suddenly in his home after a brief illness on Aug. 21.
He was 52 years old.
He was born in Springfield, Mass., and moved to New Jersey when he was 15 years old.
Those lucky enough to have met him would describe him as a loving and caring person, who put others’ needs before his own.
John served in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam era.
He was an avid runner, completing both the Boston and New York marathons. John also loved working on cars, and was passionate about his Oldsmobile 442. He owned and operated his own pool service company, Rumson Pool and Spa, and also worked in construction.
He was predeceased by his father, John, in 1970; his mother, Jessie, in 1997; and his brother, Michael, in 1993.
Surviving are his loving son, John the III; Maryann Krug, his devoted friend and mother of John the III; his sister, Maryann Strum, of Monson, Mass.; his brother, Peter, and sister-in-law, Mary, both of Neptune; as well as nieces and nephews.
