Jane Bossett
Brielle resident Jane G. Bossett died peacefully surrounded by her family in her home on Friday, Aug. 29.
She was 82 years old.
Born and raised in Lockport, N.Y., the daughter of the late Dr. D. Paul and Marie Gaugel, Jane moved to Brielle in 1950, and taught second grade in the Howell school system for over 20 years. Jane graduated from Purdue University with a degree in bacteriology. It was there she met the love of her life during a campus snowball fight. While there she was a member of the Triton Swim team and championship aquacade [water ballet] team. She also swam for the Indianapolis Swim Club. Jane enjoyed making ceramics and had her own small company, “Sea Girt Ceramics, ” in the early years of her marriage. She was a member of the Manasquan River Yacht Club, where she spent many joyous hours, with friends, sailing duckboats and watching her children and grandchildren race. Jane especially loved spending time in her garden with her beloved dog, Reuben. She not only grew the biggest and tastiest tomatoes, but she made the best pickles and jams. Through the years she enjoyed hosting large clambakes at her home in Brielle. She spent many hours watching her grandchildren play baseball and softball as well as enjoying their many concerts and musical performances. She enjoyed needlework and making doll clothes for her granddaughter. After her retirement she and her husband traveled together on many elder hostles, as far north as Newfoundland, and as far south as New Orleans. They never tired of learning more about history on these trips.
Jane was predeceased by her sister, Pauline Crofts.
She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Robert; her daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Bobby Summers, of Brielle; her son and daughter-in-law, Henry and Maggie Bossett, of Sea Girt; her beloved grandchildren, Frankie and Kellen Helies, of South Carolina, Nathan Bossett, of San Francisco, Evan and Amy Bossett, of Howell, Julia Bossett and her fiancé, Mike Gargano, of Connecticut; her cherished great-grandson, Daniel Bossett; four nieces and one nephew; and her companion, Tami.
Burial
was private.

Orender Family Home for Funerals, Manasquan, was in charge of the arrangements.
Albina Bryde
Spring Lake Heights resident Albina D’Auria Bryde suddenly passed away on Sunday, Aug. 31 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune.
She was 82 years old.
Born in Asbury Park, she graduated Asbury High School in 1943. Albina married
her late husband Charles in 1946, before moving to Spring Lake Heights in 1950.
Albina was the owner along with her late husband Charles, of Bryde’s Restaurant, Eatontown and had also been employed as the accounts payable supervisor at Steinbach’s in Asbury Park from 1960 until 1979.
Mrs. Bryde was a devout Catholic and was a daily communicant of St. Catharine’s Parish, Spring Lake. She was a 3rd order Carmelite member, a member of the Bible Study Group and the RENEW Group, all of St. Catharine’s Parish. She prepared the altar linens for the Parish for over 20 years. She also made Rosary Beads for St. Mark’s Parish, Sea Girt. An avid bowler, she was a member of Monmouth County Bowling Association for many years.
Albina was a strong woman -- emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually -- full of life even in her final days. She was an angel that watched over everyone from birth through life -- a true inspiration to all around her.
She was predeceased by her husband, Charles H. Bryde, in April 1993; daughter, Janice Bryde Johnston, in March 2001; her brother, Joseph D’Auria; and her sister, Mary Simone.
Surviving are her daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Robert Lake, of Brick; her son-in-law, Michael Johnston; her brother, Peter D’Auria and his wife Frances, of Spring Lake Heights; her four granddaughters, Cori Lango and partner Kristin, Tara and Brock Valles, Lauren and Mark Miles, and Kirsten Lake and her fiancé Frank Victor M.D.; along with grandson, Michael Johnston Jr; . three great-grandchildren, Brandon, Samantha and Justin Valles; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
A Mass of Christian Burial
will be held today, Thursday, Sept. 4 at 11 a.m. at St. Catharine’s RC Church, Spring Lake.
Entombment will be held at St. Catharine’s Cemetery, Wall. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to: Attn. Sr. Carole MacKenthum, c/o St. Catharine Church, Uganda Fund, 215 Essex Ave., Spring Lake, 07762.
William Greene
Spring Lake Heights resident William Arthur Greene died quietly at home on Aug. 29.
“Bill” was a native of New London, Conn., of a New England seafaring family, and son of Capt. Arthur W. Greene and Nellie Ethel Greene. He was one of five brothers, including Kenneth and Clayton, now deceased. He relocated to New Jersey after his marriage to Helen Pellicone, of Elizabeth, in 1954.
In his youth he was a banjo enthusiast and skillful player. During WWII, Bill served our country as Lt. Commander, Coast Guard, Pacific Theatre. After a career as an oil tanker officer he retired from Exxon Mobil in 1975. Bill was a member of Manasquan Presbyterian Church and Ocean Lodge No. 89F, Masonic Temple.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Helen, of Spring Lake Heights; daughter, Caryl; grandson, Noah Greene-Glidden, of Vashon Island, Wash.; brothers, Ralph Greene, of Connecticut and Flloyd Greene, of Missouri; also faithful brother-in-law and loyal friend, Joe Pellicone, of Spring Lake Heights; and many nieces and nephews.
Committal was private. Funeral arrangements by the O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall.
Millie Naser
Wall Township resident Millie Naser died peacefully at her home on Thursday, Aug. 28 while surrounded by her loving friends and family.
She was 75 years old.
Millie was born in Wall Township where she remained a life long resident. She was an avid member of the Wall Township United Methodist Church. Millie spent her earlier years as a homemaker and as a fun loving aunt to all her nieces and nephews. Her later years were spent being a compassionate and kind friend to everyone and anyone she met.
Millie was predeceased by her beloved husband, George Ulrich; and two brothers, Charles O. Naser, and George A. Naser.
She is survived by one brother, Marvin W. “Muggs” Naser and his wife Verna, of Wall and New Port Richey Fla.; two sisters, Edith L. Schanck and her husband Bud, of Wall, and Edna R. Schneider and her husband Norman, of West Palm Beach, Fla.; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
A Memorial Gathering in honor of Millie will be held on Sunday, Sept. 7 from 1 to 4 p.m. with services at 4 p.m. with Pastor Marion Jackson, of the Wall United Methodist Church officiating, at The Johnson McGinley Funeral Home, 2652 Highway 138, Wall [Adjacent to the Route 18 north entrance].
Millie’s family have asked that donations in her name be sent to a charity that she held close to her heart, “Whip” Wall Helps Its People, P.O. Box 1214, Wall 07719. Christopher Wallace
Bradley Beach resident Christopher M. Wallace died Friday, Aug. 29 in Bradley Beach.
He was 37 years old.
Chris lived most of his life in Bradley Beach, attending local schools. Chris was a kind and gentle person who was loved by all who knew him. Everyone whose life he touched will miss him.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, Edward and Catherine Brennan Wallace and Ann Davey Kozlowski.
He is survived by his parents, Edward and Judith Kozlowski Wallace, of Bradley Beach; his brother, Jeffrey Wallace, of Bradley Beach; his grandfather, Edward Kozlowski, of Morganville; and his dear friend, Alana Morris.
A Memorial Service will be held at a later date.
Arrangements are under the direction of The Gundrum Service “Home for Funerals, ” 237 Bordentown Ave., South Amboy.
Margaret McHugh
Point Pleasant Beach resident Margaret McHugh died peacefully on Saturday, Aug. 23 surrounded by family and friends.
She was 84 years old.
Born Margaret Moore in Harlem, N.Y., she graduated from Our Lady of Perpetual Sorrow, New York City, and left her mother’s Harlem lumber yard to work in merchant shipping as World War II loomed. Holding fast to the war order,
“Loose lips sink ships, ” Peg selectively recalled her career assisting the president and board chairman of an international merchant shipping line from 1939 through the 1960s. Somewhere deep in World War II archives are top-secret, classified correspondences she dutifully transcribed from shorthand to carbon copies and would never discuss with family and friends.
Retiring in 1969, she and her husband Charles McHugh, a D-Day veteran, relocated from Manhattan to Point Pleasant Beach and summered in Manasquan, where she belonged to St. Denis Catholic Church.
Peg was sustained by the company of books and cats, and was beloved for choosing real estate in walking distance to libraries so avid was her passion for reading.
A woman of eclectic and informed tastes, Peg was a lifelong Yankees fan and New York City Ballet patron. She was delighted to tell tales of wartime Army-Navy games in Philadelphia and being a single career girl in post-war Manhattan. Appointments of bygone era, her graceful manners, quick wit and spirited calls for song will not pass unforgotten by those blessed to have known her.
She was predeceased by her husband, Charles, in 1975.
She is survived by her sister, Kathleen Valli, of West Minster, Colo.; two nephews, John Valli of Lewes, Del., and Michael Valli of Selbyville, Del.; and a niece, Marie Valli of Lakewood, Colo.
Friends may call from 8:30 to 9 a.m. Friday at the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, 39 South St., Manasquan. A Mass of Christian Burial
will follow at 9:30 a.m. at St. Margaret’s Church, Spring Lake. Interment
will follow in St. Catharine’s Cemetery, Wall.
Dorothy Marlatt Burd
Point Pleasant resident Dorothy Marlatt Burd died peacefully on Monday, Aug. 25 in the Claremont Care Center.
She was 85 years old.
Born in Lakewood, to the late Prine and Sadie Johnson Marlatt, she lived there and graduated from Lakewood High School. She resided in Point Pleasant for over 57 years.
A homemaker, Mrs. Burd was devoted to her family. She loved to knit, bake, and was an avid sports enthusiast and New York Yankees fan.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, John C. Burd, Sr.; her son, Robert A. Burd; and by her brother, Howard Marlatt.
Surviving to cherish her memory are her son and daughter-in-law, John C. “Butch” and Celeste Burd, of Satellite Beach, Fla.; three grandchildren, Jennifer Majka and her husband, Jay, Casey Burd and Randy Burd; and three great-grandchildren, Austin, Madison and Alexander.
The Pable-Evertz Funeral Home of Point Pleasant, was in charge of arrangements. Interment
was at Wall Church Cemetery.

Anastasia Sellman Hurley
Lakewood resident Anastasia Sellman Hurley, whose daughters live in Point Pleasant, died Thursday, Aug. 14 in Ocean Medical Center, Brick.
She was 91 years old.
She was born in Pompton Lakes to the late Otto and Anastasia Sellman, and had lived in Nutley before moving to the Shore area in 1933.
A beloved wife, she was predeceased by her husband, William P., in 1978; her son, Thomas P. Hurley, in 1986; and her sister, Gertrude Magahan, in 2007.
Surviving to cherish her memory are one son, William; two daughters, Susan and Anastasia; one sister, Elizabeth Chadwick; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Services were private, under the direction of Pable-Evertz Funeral Home, Point Pleasant. Interment
was at Greenwood Cemetery, Brielle.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in her memory may be made to the charity of the donor’s choice.
