Katherine F. Tomaini
Point Pleasant resident Katherine F. Mira Tomaini died Sunday, Feb. 11 in Claremont Care Center, Point Pleasant.
She was 78 years old.
Born in Bronx, N.Y., Mrs. Tomaini lived in Long Branch for many years, moving to Point Pleasant 13 years ago.
Her greatest accomplishment was her family, to whom she was totally devoted, especially to her grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her brother, Louis Mira.
Surviving are her husband, Frank A., Long Branch; her son, Anthony P., Dagsboro, Del.; her daughter and son-in-law, LouAnn and David Brown, Point Pleasant; her three granddaughters, Stephanie P. Mamola and her husband John, Kelly M. Tomaini, and Janet K. Brown; and two great-grandchildren, Christopher A. Mamola and Angelina R. Tomaini.
Funeral arrangements were from Pable-Evertz Funeral Home, Point Pleasant.

Daniel LaVolpe
Brick Township resident Daniel LaVolpe, formerly of Point Pleasant Beach, died Sunday, Feb. 11 in Ocean Medical Center, Brick.
He was 88 years old.
Born in Elizabeth, Mr. LaVolpe lived in Roselle and in Point Pleasant Beach for 30 years before moving to Brick.
He was self-employed with Giuseppe's Restaurant, Roselle, from 1954 to 1972, retiring in 1984.
He was a member of St. Mary's By the Sea Episcopal Church, Point Pleasant Beach.
He was a life member of the F&AM Lodge No. 33, Union.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was predeceased by his wife, Genevieve Lang LaVolpe, in 1989; and a son, Donald LaVolpe, in 2003.
Surviving are two sons, William LaVolpe, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Kenneth LaVolpe, Point Pleasant Beach; a daughter, Phyllis A. Troncale, Brick; a brother, Anthony LaVolpe, Toms River; a sister, Madeline Tomino, Linden; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were from the Colonial Funeral Home, Brick. Interment
was in St. Catharine's Cemetery, Wall Township.
William L. Harned
Point Pleasant resident William L. Harned died Wednesday, Feb. 7 in his father’s home in Woodbridge.
He was 55 years old.
Born in Rayway, Mr. Harned lived in Woodbridge for most of his life before moving to Point Pleasant in 1995.
He was employed for several years with his father at SE&M Vernon Corporation, Elizabeth, before becoming a firefighter with the Woodbridge Fire Department in 1980.
He was a member of Point Pleasant Beach Presbyterian Church.
He was a member of the Woodbridge Township Firefighters Association, Local No. 290, Woodbridge.
He was predeceased in 2002 by his wife, Barbara A. Drumgould Harned, and in 1995 by his mother, Jean Leonard Harned.
Surviving are one son, William R. Harned, Point Pleasant; his father, William L. Harned, Woodbridge; one brother, Robert Harned, Lake Ariel, Pa.; two sisters, Beverly Weidner, Spring Lake, and Linda Leeman, Woodbridge; a sister-in-law, Donna Enright, Edgewood, Md.; and 10 nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements were from the Costello-Greiner Funeral Home, Woodbridge. Interment
was in First Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Woodbridge.

Ernest J. Dabinett Jr.
Wall Township resident Ernest J. Dabinett Jr., formerly of Bay Head, died peacefully Wednesday, Feb. 7, in Burnt Tavern Nursing & Rehab Center, Neptune.
He was 81 years old.
Born in Passaic, he was raised and lived in East Rutherford before moving to Bay Head in 1980, and then to the Four Seasons development of Wall 10 years ago.
He earned a degree in journalism in 1950 from New York University.
He was employed as the editor of the East Rutherford Leader in 1952. He then became an FBI special agent, serving until his retirement in 1980. He was employed for 10 years with the United States Department of State, until his final retirement from public service in 1992.
He was a communicant of St. Denis Church, Manasquan, and had been a member of the Knights of Columbus Council at St. Mary’s Church, Rutherford.
He was a member of the Society of Retired FBI Agents, the newly formed American Legion Post, in Four Seasons, Wall, a member of the Rutherford Elks, and a member of the Manasquan River Golf Club.
He was a U.S. Navy Air Corps veteran, serving from 1943-47.
Surviving are his devoted wife of 56 years, Margaret “Peggy” Dabinett; one son, Ernest John III, New York City; four daughters and sons-in-law, Lynn Oldham and Michael Granucci, Brielle, Lee and James Blumenstock, Wall, Laurie and Tony Mijares, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Lizabeth and Christopher Galinis, Brielle; 11 grandchildren, Christopher and his wife Annie, Lauren, Ricky, Alexandra, Chris, Lindsey, Eric, Kelly, Kerrin, Drew and Olivia; and two great-grandchildren, Chloe and Ava.
Funeral arrangements were from the O’Brien Funeral Home, Wall. Burial
was in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.

William J. Manning
Davie, Fla., resident William J. “Billy” Manning, whose sister lives in Point Pleasant, died Sunday, Feb. 4 in Pembroke Pines, Fla.
He was 70 years old.
Born in Newark, Mr. Manning was raised and lived in Shark River Hills, Neptune, before moving to Florida seven years ago upon his retirement.
He was a graduate of St. Rose High School, Belmar.
He was a 40-year member of Asbestos Workers, Local No. 32, Newark.
He was a member of VFW Post No. 2639, and American Legion Post No. 346, both of Neptune, and AMVETS Post No. 16, Bridgewater.
He was an Army veteran serving as a sergeant of the 501st Airborne Infantry in the Far East. Upon returning to the United States, he served with the 101st Airborn Division at Fort Campbell, Ky.
He was predeceased by his parents,William J. and Irma C. Weiss Manning.
Surviving are his loving wife, Lillian A. Sepudveda Manning; one brother, James W. Manning; two sisters, Patricia M. Gerard, Point Pleasant, and Judith C. Gibson, Sea Girt; and many nephews and nieces, including the Honorable James W. Manning Jr., Mayor of Neptune.
Funeral arrangements were from the Orender Funeral Home, Manasquan. Interment
was in Restland Memorial Park, East Hanover.
Annetta C. Otero
Tinton Falls resident Annetta C. Dusch Otero, formerly of Point Pleasant, died Monday, Feb. 12 in Sunnyside Manor, Wall Township.
She was 78 years old.
Born in Philadelphia, Mrs. Otero was raised in Pennsylvania and lived in Belmar, Point Pleasant and the Greenbriar section of Brick Township before moving to Tinton Falls in 2005.
She was a graduate of Marywood College, Scranton, Pa.
She was employed for over 20 years as an accountant with the Deal Country Club, before retiring.
She was was active with the arranging and coordination of numerous bus trips for St. Martha’s Church when she resided in Brick.
She was a communicant of St. Martha’s Church, Point Pleasant, where she was also a member of both the St. Martha Beehive, and the Altar Rosary Society.
Surviving are two sons, David A. Otero, Spring Lake, and J. Michael Otero, Toms River; her brother, Herman G. Dusch Jr., Yardley, Pa.; two sisters, Patricia A. Ballinger, Yardley, Pa., and Ruth H. Jayne, Oxford, Pa.; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Funeral arrangements are from the Pable-Evertz Funeral Home, Point Pleasant. Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. today in the funeral home, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial
at 11 a.m. in St. Martha’s Church, Point Pleasant. Interment
will be in Our Lady of Grace Cemetery, Langhorne, Pa.
Esther Reid Terhune
Marco Island, Fla., resident Esther Reid Terhune, formerly of Point Pleasant, died Saturday, Feb. 10 in Heron House, Naples, Fla.
She was 91 years old.
Born in Point Pleasant, Mrs. Terhune lived in Manasquan for many years before moving to Florida in 1995.
She was formerly employed by the Acme Market, Manasquan.
She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Manasquan.
She was a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of Manasquan Hook & Ladder Company No. 1, and a life member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Manasquan First Aid Squad.
She was predeceased by her husband, Harold Terhune, in 1956.
Surviving are two daughters and sons-in-law, Charlene and Robert Brain, Marco Island, Fla., and Sandra and William Salemme, Longview, Texas; a sister, Althea Schwarz, Point Pleasant; a granddaughter and her husband, Terri and Michael Ray; a grandson, John Salemme; and a great-granddaughter, Ashley Ray.
Funeral arrangements are from the Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan. The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today in the United Methodist Church of Manasquan. Interment
will follow in Greenwood Cemetery, Brielle.
