Lillian M. Klim
Toms River resident Lillian M. Kim, whose daughter lives in Point Pleasant, died Sunday, June 25 in Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood.
She was 76 years old.
Mrs. Klim was born and raised in Perth Amboy, she moved to Toms River in 1962. She worked as a bookkeeper and sold Avon Products for many years. She was a member of the Hungarian Club in Whiting and attended Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church in Seaside Heights and St. Joseph’s Church in Toms River.
She was predeceased by her husband by her husband, Alfred Klim, in 1997.
Surviving are her sons, Bruce Klim and his wife Linda of Eagle River, Alaska, and Gary Klim of Toms River; a daughter, Linda Stephens and her husband John of Point Pleasant; a brother, Robert Marhevka of Hawaii; a brother-in-law, Ted Klim and his wife Vi of Hays, Kan.; a sister, Barbara Hoffman of Brick Township; an aunt, Anna Sabo of Whiting; and her grandpups, Elle, Madison and Jax.

Richard T. Lowcher
Lakewood resident Richard T. Lowcher, formerly of Mantoloking and Palm Beach, Fla., and most recently from Leisure Village East, Lakewood, died Saturday, June 24 in his home after a long struggle with Parkinson’s disease.
He was 78 years old.
Mr. Lowcher was a 1949 graduate of Rutgers University and was retired from Bell Atlantic Corporation as manager of Bell Exchange Carrier Relations. In his 37 years of service with the Bell System, he held various management positions with AT&T, NJ Bell and Bell Atlantic.
He also served on the board of directors of the Ambassador II Corporation and was a former councilman of the Borough of Mantoloking.
Mr. Lowcher was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Church, Bay Head, where he was an usher for many years.
He is survived by his three sons and daughters-in-law, Mark W. and his wife Maryellen of Brick Township, Matthew F. and his wife Donna of Nags Head, N.C., and Philip W. and his wife Claudine of Rumson; and five grandchildren, David, Daniel, Ashley, Jessica and Caroline. He also leaves a brother, Robert Alan and his wife Cristey and family of Boonton.
Arrangements were made by the Weatherhead Young Funeral Home, Brick.

Mary Hanzo Guz
Point Pleasant resident Mary Hanzo Guz, died Wednesday, June 21, in Ocean Medical Center, Brick Township.
She was 84 years old.
Born in Czechoslovakia, she lived in Elmwood Park from 1941 to 1957 prior to moving to Brick and then Point Pleasant several years ago. She was a homemaker and a former member of the Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Garfield, and a member of the Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, Point Pleasant.
Mrs. Guz was predeceased by her husband, Bruno, who died in 1992.
She is survived by three sons, Edward J. Guz of Howell Township, Kenneth Guz of the Philippines, and Thomas Guz of Smithville; a sister, Anna Skwira, of Paramus; and four grandchildren.
Arrangements were by Colonial Funeral Home, Brick.
Dorothea Stephens
Traditions of Hanover, Pa. resident Dorothea Stephens, whose daughter resides in Point Pleasant, died Saturday, June 24 in St. Luke’s Hospital, Fountain Hill, Pa.
She was 84 years old.
Formerly of Union, Luther Crest Pa. and Allentown, Pa., Mrs. Stephens was the wife of the late Robert L. Stephens, with whom she had shared married
life 55 years before his death in 2000. She was a devoted homemaker and mother.
Mrs. Stephens was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Bethlehem Pa., and was also a member of Order of The Eastern Star, Sharon Chapter, Union.
Surviving are a son, Keith R. Stephens of Linden; her daughters, Diane L. Thomson and her husband Edward of Hanover Township, Pa., and Cindy L. Stephens of Point Pleasant; a brother, Charles Lingsch of Toms River; her grandchildren, Brian Thomson and his wife Kelsy, Scott Thomson and his wife Christine, and Nicole Thomson; and three great-grandchildren.

George Sherwood Stotz
Lakewood resident George Sherwood Stotz, formerly of Point Pleasant, died Sunday, June 25 in Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood.
He was 69 years old.
Born in Newark, he lived there, and also for many years in Point Pleasant, before residing in Lakewood for 30 years.
A United States Army veteran, Mr. Stotz served in the Signal Corps, being discharged as a first lieutenant.
He was a graduate of both Seton Hall Prepatory School and Seton Hall University.
For 30 years, he was employed as a social worker by the Ocean County Board of Social Services, Toms River. He was a communicant of Saint Mary of the Lake Roman Catholic Church, Lakewood.
He is survived by his wife, of 31 years, Hannah Havens; three sons, George J. of Easton, Pa., Brian of Jackson, and Shawn and his wife Lisa of Middletown; and two daughters, Vanessa Stotz of Freehold and Melissa Viggiano and her husband Paul of Brick Township. He is also survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Wayne and Barbara Stotz of Brick and four grandchildren, Lauren, Allyson, Jack and Mark.

John Patrick McBride Sr.
Point Pleasant resident John Patrick McBride Sr., died Friday, June 23.
He was 79 years old.
He was an investigator for the Superintendent of Elections Office in Monmouth County for 18 years, retiring in 2004. Prior to that, he was a bartender for 28 years at Eggimann’s Tavern, Spring Lake Heights.
Mr. McBride was predeceased by his sisters, Virginia and Mary; and a brother, Charles McBride. Surviving are his daughters, Colleen Vintzileos and Maureen Montano; his sons, Kerry, John Jr., and Brian McBride; his brother, Thomas McBride; and 20 grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were kept private.
Helen Barbara Stonack
Howell resident Helen Barbara Stonack, formerly of Point Pleasant Beach, died Tuesday, June 27, in Ocean Medical Center, Brick Township.
She was 84 years old.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mrs. Stonack resided in Point Pleasant Beach, Cranford, Union and Toms River before moving to Howell three years ago. She owned and operated with her late husband John the Pleasant Court Motel, Point Pleasant Beach, for 10 years, retiring several years ago. She was a member of the Tradewinds Chapter of Deborah.
Mrs. Stonack was the wife of the late John W. Stonack, who passed away in 1999. Surviving are her son, John M. Stonack of Wall; her daughter, Donna S. Jani of Howell; her sisters, Stella Downer of Toms River, and Viola Polski of Pittsburgh; seven grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Michael A. DeCicco Sr.
Point Pleasant resident Michael A. DeCicco died Tuesday, June 27 in Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank.
He was 77 years old.
Born in Maplewood, he was a longtime resident there, moving to Point Pleasant 17 years ago.
A United States Air Force, Korean War veteran, Mr. DeCicco was employed as a test engineer by Public Service Electric and Gas, Maplewood, for 36 years before retiring in 1989.
Mr. DeCicco was predeceased by his father, Anthony and by his brother, Anthony.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mary Lou Becht DeCicco; his daughter and son-in-law, Mary Ann and Stephen Earl of Point Pleasant; and two sons and daughters-in-law, Michael A. and Felicia DeCicco, Jr. of Forked River, and Richard and Bonnie DeCicco of Point Pleasant. He is also survived by his mother, Margaret DeCicco of Spring Lake Heights; his brother, Frank DeCicco of Howell; and by four grandchildren, Kyle, Corinne, Carly and Billy.

Lt. Laurel A. Hester
Point Pleasant resident Lt. Laurel A. Hester died Saturday, Feb. 18 in her home.
She was 49 years old.
Born in Elgin, Ill., Lt. Hester lived in Florham park before moving to Ocean County in 1982 to begin her 24-year career with the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office.
Fulfilling her childhood dream to be a police officer, Lt. Hester earned a degree in criminal justice and psychology from Stockton State College while working as a seasonal officer for the North Wildwood Police Department. She embarked upon her full time career in law enforcement with the Morris County Prosecutor’s Office in 1979, where she worked for two years prior to being employed as a county investigator in Ocean County, a place she had longed to return to after spending childhood vacations at the Jersey Shore.
As a pioneer among women in law enforcement, Lt. Hester earned the respect and admiration of her colleagues in the police profession. Known for her dedication and dignity, her career included assignments in organized crime intelligence, homicide investigations, narcotics enforcement, and juvenile delinquency rehabilitation. She was most proud of her working solving several notable homicides, as well as her successful efforts in prosecuting numerous major organized crime figures.
Lt. Hester’s enduring bravery at the end of her life thrust her into the national spotlight as a heroic figure in the American civil rights movement. Her undying courage in her waning days catapulted her to national prominence as she persevered against seemingly insurmountable odds to advance equal rights for domestic partners.
She was predeceased by her parents, George W. Hester in 1992, and Diana J. Hester in 1995.
Surviving are her beloved life partner, Stacie L. Andree, Point Pleasant; two brothers and one sister-in-law, George D. Hester, Harding Township, and James S. and Jamie Hester, Laurel, Md.; and one sister and brother-in-law, Lynda Hester-D’Orio and Gary D’Orio, Kinnelon.
Funeral arrangements are from the Pable-Evertz Funeral Home, Point Pleasant.
A memorial service will be held at noon Saturday, March 4 in St. Mary’s By the Sea Episcopal Church, Point Pleasant Beach. Friends may call from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in Farnsworth Hall at the church.
