Charles W. Kellington
Point Pleasant Beach resident Charles W. “Feathers” Kellington died Thursday, Dec. 9 in his home.
He was 95 years old.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mr. Kellington lived in Bronx, N.Y., before moving to Point Pleasant Beach 56 years ago.
He was employed as a textile adjuster with Stahli & Sons, New York City, before retiring. He had also been employed as a bank teller with Ocean National Bank from 1971 to 1975.
He was a communicant of St. Peter’s Church, Point Pleasant Beach.
He was a life member of Elks Lodge No. 1698, and of the Old Guard of the Greater Point Pleasant area.
Charles was known for his quick wit and sense of humor.
Surviving are his wife of 72 years, Catherine Maher Kellington; one son, Charles M., Vero Beach, Fla.; one daughter, Maureen Kellington, Point Pleasant; four granddaughters, Jeannette Kellington, Eileen Gorga, Catherine Kellington and Mary Theresa Swedish; and five great-grandchildren, Katie, Allison, and Elizabeth Gorga, and Kelli and Mily Swedish.
Funeral arrangements were from the Pable-Evertz Funeral Home, Point Pleasant.

Dorothea A. Wardell
Point Pleasant resident Dorothea A. Wardell died Monday, Dec. 13 in her home.
She was 87 years old.
Born in New York City, Mrs. Wardell had been a lifelong resident of Point Pleasant.
She was a member of the Point Pleasant Presbyterian Church.
Surviving are her husband, Harold; three sons, John, Point Pleasant, Garry, of Brick Township, and Harold E., Point Pleasant; one daughter, Dorie Bull, Homosassa, Fla.; one sister, Gloria House, of California; six grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were from the Pable-Evertz Funeral Home, Point Pleasant.
John T. Pruticka
Point Pleasant resident John T. Pruticka died Thursday, Dec. 9 in his home.
He was 44 years old.
Born in Bayonne, Mr. Pruticka moved to Point Pleasant nine years ago.
He was employed as a truck driver with Marine Container Service, Newark, before retiring.
Surviving are his wife, Dawn; his father, John T. Pruticka, Bayonne; three daughters, Alycia Pruticka and Lisa Pruticka, Point Pleasant, and Amanda Pruticka, of Tennessee; one stepson, Joseph Barbieri; one stepdaughter, Christian Barbieri; and two sisters, Ruth Ann Smith, Bayonne, and Kathy McMan, Toms River.
Funeral arrangements were from the Pable-Evertz Funeral Home, Point Pleasant.
Helen S. Van Bergen
North Palm Beach, Fla., resident Helen Stella Van Bergen, formerly of Point Pleasant, died Friday, Dec. 10.
She was 85 years old.
Mrs. Van Bergen lived in Point Pleasant before retiring to Florida.
She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and was extremely proud of her son. She enjoyed every person she knew and will be remembered as a positive person with a good word to say about everything, and for her huge heart, her decorating abilities and her egg salad.
She was predeceased by her husband, George Van Bergen.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Ronald and Gail, Brick Township; one grandson and his fiancee, R. Steven Van Bergen and Robin Anello, Point Pleasant; one granddaughter and her husband, Susan and Brian Judnick, Point Pleasant; and one great-granddaughter, Devyn.
Cremation was private.

Virginia F. Forsyth
Fair Haven resident Virginia F. Francis Forsyth, whose daughter lives in Point Pleasant, died Friday, Dec. 10 in Ocean Medical Center, Brick Township.
She was 79 years old.
Born in Spring Lake, Mrs. Forsyth had lived in Little Silver and Fair Haven for 45 years.
She was a graduate of Asbury Park High School.
She was a member of St. George’s by the River Episcopal Church, Rumson.
She was a volunteer for many years with Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank.
She was predeceased in 2003 by her husband of 56 years, Gordon Jr.; and by her sister, Josephine Hayes.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Gordon III and Joan, Fair Haven; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Larry Smith, Dayton, Ohio, and Deborah and Rudolph Frenville, Point Pleasant; one brother and sister-in-law, William and Jacqueline Francis, Pinehurst, N.C.; one sister and two brothers-in-law, Helen and Louis Burke, and Robert Hayes, all of Lakewood; five grandsons, Gordon Forsyth IV and his wife, Elizabeth, David Forsyth and his wife, Sarah, Jason Forsyth and his wife, Erin, Eric Smith, and Michael Frenville and his wife, Christine; two granddaughters, Jennifer Smith, and Patricia Churpakovich and her husband, Stephen; and seven great-grandchildren, Leigh, Grace, Gordon, Elizabeth, Catherine, Aileen and Mason Forsyth.

Arthur Eberle
Sherrills Ford, N.C., resident Arthur Eberle, whose daughter lives in Point Pleasant, died Wednesday, Dec. 8 in his home.
He was 66 years old.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mr. Eberle lived in Breezy Point, N.Y., and Woodhaven, N.Y., before moving to Brick Township in 1960 and then to Sherrills Ford in 1985.
He was employed for 34 years as the manager of data processing with the Royal Insurance Co. in New York City and Charlotte, N.C., retiring in 1992.
He was a parishioner of Mount Pleasant United Methodist Church, Sherrills Ford.
He was a member for eight years of the Brick Planning Board, was a former member of the Brick Jaycees, serving as the president of the Football Classic, served on the Brick Shade Tree Commission, and was a volunteer swim team coach.
Art was a devoted husband and father and will be profoundly missed by his family and many friends.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Irene Eberle; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Mark, Bayville, Berkeley, and Eric and Brigida, Charlotte, N.C.; one daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen and Richard Larsen, Point Pleasant; his cousin, Fletcher Eberle, Breezy Point, N.Y.; and seven grandchildren.

Susan A. Loop
Seaside Heights resident Susan A. Loop, whose father and brother live in Point Pleasant Beach, died Tuesday, Dec. 7 in her home.
She was 39 years old.
Born in Jersey City, Ms. Loop lived in North Bergen before moving to the Ocean County area 20 years ago.
She was a homemaker.
She was a loving and caring mother, and enjoyed bonko, bingo, walks on the boardwalk, the arcades, and games of chance.
She was predeceased in 1987 by her mother, Alvina.
Surviving are two sons, Johnny and Michael, Seaside Heights; her father, Richard Loop, Point Pleasant Beach; two brothers, Richard Loop, Pompano Beach, Fla., and Christopher Loop, Point Pleasant Beach; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

Theresa D. Sammarco
Lavallette resident Theresa DeFlumeri Sammarco died Wednesday, Dec. 8 in her home.
She was 88 years old.
Born in Lyndhurst, Mrs. Sammarco lived in Rutherford before moving to Lavallette in 1982, having been a summer resident since the 1950s.
She was a secretary for her husband’s business, James Sammarco Inc., East Newark.
She was a parishioner of St. Bonaventure Church, Lavallette, and was a member of the church’s Rosary Altar Society.
She was a member of the Lavallette Democratic Club.
She was predeceased in 1991 by her husband, James; and by her parents, Anthony and Anna DeFlumeri, one brother, Al DeFlumeri, and two sisters, Mildred Dai and Antoinette Benevento.
Surviving are three daughters and sons-in-law, Joann and Vincent Marino Sr., Lavallette, Judith and Michael Kapandais, Toms River, and Jami and Steven Shohfi, Lavallette; three sisters, Stella DeMayo, Lyndhurst, Mary DeVenio, North Arlington, and Anna Marie Felecky, Lodi; eight grandchildren, Christopher and Vincent Marino, Michael and Arianne Kapandais, Laura Bambrick, Noelle Newman, and Jessica and Sarah Shohfi; and seven great-grandchildren, Alexandra, James and Kelly Bambrick, and Michael, Gia, Ava and Noah Marino.
