Joyce M. Campbell
Point Pleasant Beach resident Joyce Marie Andreas Campbell died peacefully Monday, Jan. 16 in Moore Regional Hospital, Pinehurst, N.C.
She was 79 years old.
Born in Mt. Vernon, Ohio, Mrs. Campbell moved to New Jersey with her husband in 1955.
She became a nurse following training in Columbus, Ohio, and earned a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Georgetown University, Washington, D.C. After her children were grown and her husband retired, Mrs. Campbell returned to nursing at Claremont Care Center, Point Pleasant Beach. Her interest in nursing and medicine continued even after her retirement.
She enjoyed reading, playing golf and bridge and recently became a member of the Woman’s Club of Point Pleasant Beach and the Women of Sacred Heart, Pinehurst, N.C.
Mrs. Campbell was a devoted wife and mother, and especially enjoyed traveling to visit her children and grandchildren. She was dearly loved and will be greatly missed.
She was predeceased by her husband, Charles Joseph Campbell, D.D.S., her parents, Paul and Frances Andreas; and her sister, Geraldine Andreas.
Surviving are two sons, Mark Andreas Campbell, Point Pleasant Beach, and Matthew Charles Campbell, Southold, N.Y.; four daughters, Kathryn Ann Campbell, London, and Southold, N.Y., Joyce Campbell McKenzie, St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, Susan Campbell Schultz, Pinehurst, N.C., and Mary Ann Campbell-Hopp, Point Pleasant Beach; one brother, Paul Andreas, New Braunfels, Texas; three sisters, Mary Lou Degnan, Winston-Salem, N.C., and Martha Timko and Ruth Andreas, both of Troy, Ohio; her sister-in-law, Claire Campbell, Webster, Mass.; and five grandchildren, Michael Louis Forte, Stephanie Ann and Robert Charles Schultz, Scott Campbell McKenzie and Charles John Campbell.
Funeral arrangements were from the Boles Funeral Home, Pinehurst, N.C. Private burial will be in Brig. Gen. William C. Doyle Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Arneytown.

Gerard J. Starace
Point Pleasant resident Gerard J. Starace died Thursday, Jan. 19 in his home.
He was 58 years old.
Mr. Starace lived in Rutherford and moved to Point Pleasant in 1985.
He was employed as a senior sales engineer with Eaton Corporation.
He loved children and animals.
He was predeceased by his parents, Vincent and Michelina Munier Starace.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Starace; one son, Keith, Manasquan; one daughter, Kirsten, Hoboken; one brother, Joe Starace, Toms River; and four sisters, Susan Borchert, Rutherford, Theresa Binns, Saddle River, Ester Skelly, North Arlington, and Lorraine Vitale, of Virginia.

Julia A. Smith
Point Pleasant resident Julia A. Smith died Sunday, Jan. 22 in her home.
She was 92 years old.
Born in Manhattan, Mrs. Smith lived in Point Pleasant for 32 years.
She was a communicant of St. Peter’s Church, Point Pleasant, and a member of its Altar Rosary Society and the St. Peter’s Glorious Years.
She was a member of the Point Pleasant Moose Lodge.
Julia was a swimmer at the Toms River YMCA where she coordinated many functions for the handicapped swimmers.
She was predeceased in 1989 by her husband, Henry J. Smith, in 1990 by her son, Joseph Smith, and by 12 siblings.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Harry and Terry Smith, Spring Lake; two daughters and sons-in-law, Maureen and Ron Dornau, Brielle, and Julia and Tony Lopomo, Sea Girt; seven grandchildren, Kim Sikowitz, Bruce and Craig Mangio, Erin, Brittany and Victoria Lopomo, and Jason Smith; and three great-grandchildren, Nicole and Danielle Sikowitz, and CJ Mangio.

Marie Louise LaBarre
Point Pleasant resident Marie Louise Verchot LaBarre died Monday, Jan. 16 in her home.
She was 81 years old.
Born in East Orange, Mrs. LaBarre lived in New Providence from 1951 to 1963 before moving to Point Pleasant.
She was employed as a bank teller for 10 years with Ocean County National Bank before retiring. She also owned Ray’s Coffee Shop, Point Pleasant, for 10 years and The Hutch Coffee Shop, Brielle, for three years.
She was predeceased by her husband, Randolph LaBarre.
Surviving are three sons, Dennis Schweitzer, Point Pleasant, Raymond J. Schweitzer Jr., Roxbury, and James M. Schweitzer, Point Pleasant; two brothers, Frederick Verchot, Bradenton, Fla., and A. Paul Verchot, Sparta; one sister, Nancy Mae Bornstein, Toms River, and seven grandchildren.
Private funeral arrangements were from Van Hise & Callagan Funeral Home, Point Pleasant Beach.
Patrick Joseph Kissane
Toms River, Dover Township, resident Patrick Joseph Kissane, formerly of Lavallette, died Monday, Jan. 23 in his home.
He was 43 years old.
Born in Bronx, N.Y., he lived in Lavallette before moving to Toms River in 1992.
He earned an associate’s degree in criminal justice from Ocean County College, Toms River, in 1984, and was a graduate of the Ocean County Police Academy.
He was employed as the captain of the Lavallette Police Department, where he had served since 1987. Previously, he was employed as a sheriff’s officer with the Ocean County Sheriff’s Department.
Capt. Kissane was a member of PBA Local No. 372, a past volunteer EMT with the Lavallette First Aid Squad, and a current volunteer EMT with the Dover-Brick First Aid Squad.
He was a collector of police patches from other police departments and loved to vacation in Disney World.
He was predeceased in 1980 by his father, Timothy Kissane.
Surviving are his wife of 15 1/2 years, Donna Ratti Kissane; his mother, Laura Ambrose Kissane; one brother, Timothy, Brooklyn, N.Y.; and a nephew, Christian, Toms River.

Rachel Burkhardt
Point Pleasant resident Rachel Scarpone Burkhardt died Tuesday, Jan. 24 in Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune.
She was 89 years old.
Born in Newark, Mrs. Burkhardt lived in South Orange before residing in Point Pleasant for 30 years.
She was a homemaker.
She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, Bay Head.
She was a member of the Deborah Hospital Foundation, was a former Girl Scout leader, and enjoyed gardening.
Surviving are her husband of nearly 60 years, Carl F. Burkhardt; three daughters and two sons-in-law, Jane Marino, Clinton, Elaine and Anthony Pollio, Whitehouse Station, and June Burkhardt Moscatelli and Anthony Moscatelli, Point Pleasant; one brother, Jim Scarpone, of Georgia; and six grandchildren, Allison, Laura, Anthony, Dominick, Emily and Jennifer.

Orlando Procaccio
Monroe Township resident Orlando Procaccio, whose son lives in Point Pleasant, died Tuesday, Jan. 17 in Scottsdale Healthcare, Arizona.
He was 66 years old.
Born in Italy, Mr. Procaccio lived in Brooklyn, N.Y., Marlboro and Manchester before moving to Monroe one month ago.
He was the owner of a Brooklyn bread route for most of his life.
He was a member of the Monmouth Worship Center, Marlboro.
Surviving are his wife of 42 years, Josephine; two sons, Felice, North Port, Fla., and Nick, Point Pleasant; one daughter, Cynthia Connelly, Washington Township; four brothers, Antonio, of Argentina, Frank, Brooklyn, N.Y., and Joseph and Elio, both of Staten Island, N.Y.; one sister, Josephine Ippolitto, Brooklyn, N.Y.; and four grandchildren, Alexandria, Nicholas, Brianna and Gabriella.

Audrey “Penny” Fran
Point Pleasant resident Audrey Louise “Penny” Frantz died Wednesday, Jan. 25 in Laurelton Village, Brick Township.
She was 80 years old.
Born in Avon-by-the-Sea, Mrs. Frantz was a life-long area resident.
She was employed as a realtor with with the Helen Havens Agency, Point Pleasant.
She was in fellowship with the Point Pleasant Presbyterian Church.
Penny was a person with a warm and caring heart. She will be truly missed, yet will live on by the countless people her love touched. She was a beloved wife and loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend.
She was predeceased in 1983 by her husband, James Frantz.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Glenn and Maryann, Point Pleasant, and Dean and Christine, Cary, N.C.; one sister, Bonnie Munroe Wilson, of Arizona; four grandchildren, Megan, Jeff, Laura and Rebecca; and one great-grandson, Robert.
Funeral arrangements are from the Pable-Evertz Funeral Home, Point Pleasant. A service to commemorate her life will be held at 3 p.m today in the Point Pleasant Presbyterian Church, Point Pleasant Beach. Relatives and friends are invited to attend.
