Josephine Farragher
Point Pleasant Beach resident Josephine “Jo Jo” Farragher died Thursday, Oct. 6 in Claremont Care Center, Point Pleasant.
She was 93 years old.
Born in County Mayo, Ireland, Jo Jo lived in Bedford, N.Y. before moving to Point Pleasant Beach in 1991.
She was employed for 48 years as a family governess in Bedford, before retiring 13 years ago.
She was a daily communicant of St. Peter’s Church, Point Pleasant Beach.
Surviving are one brother, Fr. Sean Farragher, Dublin, Ireland; four sisters, Bride Cheeseman and Sr. Mary Conception, both of Gallway, Ireland, Catherine Trainor, Spring Valley, N.Y., and Sr. Bernadette Farragher, of Ireland; one nephew, John Lane, Point Pleasant Beach; six nieces, Mary Lane, Point Pleasant Beach, Patricia Lane, of California, Carmel Amodeo, Toms River, Maureen Trainor and Maggie Trainor, both of New York, and Ann Coyne, of Virginia; and many other nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews throughout the United States and Ireland.
Funeral arrangements were from the Van Hise & Callagan Funeral Home, Point Pleasant Beach.
Adelaide G. Stoetzel
Point Pleasant and Saint Petersburg, Fla., resident Adelaide “Addie” G. Kintner Stoetzel, died Sunday, Oct. 2 in St. Anthony’s Hospital, St. Petersburg, with her four children at her bedside.
She was 90 years old.
Born in Newark, Mrs. Stoetzel lived in Irvington before moving to Point Pleasant in 1959.
She was a homemaker, and was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was very active in her Winston Park condo community, where she served as social-club director and was also a Red Hat Lady.
She was predeceased by her husband, Louis A. Stoetzel, and by her brother, Earle Kintner.
Surviving are two sons and one daughter-in-law, Robert and Marcia, and Louis, all of Point Pleasant; two daughters and sons-in-law, Joan and Bob Hoffman, Homosassa, Fla., and Susan and Tom Hamburg, Point Pleasant; seven grandchildren, Robbie, Billy and Ricky Hoffman, Stacey Bierbrauer, Bobby Stoetzel, and Jennifer and Cristin Hamburg; and five great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements are from the Pable-Evertz Funeral Home, Point Pleasant. A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Ronald Kenneth Stires
Brielle resident Ronald Kenneth Stires, whose stepdaughter lives in Point Pleasant, died Thursday, Oct. 6 in Ocean Medical Center, Brick Township.
He was 70 years old.
Born in Neptune, Mr. Stires was a life-long resident of Brielle.
He was the owner for 10 years of Garden State Seafood, Point Pleasant Beach. As a youngster, he was a mate on local fishing boats.
He was a member of the Paul M. Fye Society at Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, Cape Cod, Mass.
Mr. Stires was a fishing master, spending his life connected to the sea. Throughout his life he traveled the world.
Surviving are his wife, Nancy Y. Cregan Stires; two stepdaughters, Elizabeth Cregan, Brielle, and Amanda Cregan, Point Pleasant; one brother, George E. II, Brick Township; two sisters, Gail Herbert, Brielle, and Marie Kayes, Lacanto, Fla.; two grandchildren, Autumn and Ronny; and several nieces and nephews.

Edward J. Gardner
Lavallette resident Edward Joseph Gardner died Wednesday, Oct. 5 in JFK Medical Center, Edison.
He was 69 years old.
Born in Elizabeth, Mr. Gardner lived in Roselle, Union, and Flushing, Queens, N.Y., before moving to Lavallette 13 years ago.
He was employed for 25 years as an ironworker with Local No. 480, Elizabeth, and then was employed in sales with Community Map Communications Inc., Birdsboro, Pa.
He was a parishioner of St. Bonaventure Church, Lavallette.
He was an Army veteran.
Mr. Gardner was a passionate Notre Dame fanatic and a member of the Notre Dame Club of the Jersey Shore.
Surviving are his wife, Martha “Anita” Connell Gardner; one son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Ruth, Forked River, Lacey; three daughters and sons-in-law, Deborah and Curt Caprario, of Wisconsin, Cynthia and Joseph Spalliero, Holmdel, and Nancy and Raymond Miller, Forked River; and eight grandchildren.

Lorraine B. Hensch
Point Pleasant resident Lorraine Burkhardt Hensch died Wednesday, Oct. 5 in Ocean Medical Center, Brick Township.
She was 79 years old.
Born in Newark, Mrs. Hensch lived in Iselin before moving to Point Pleasant 38 years ago.
She was employed for 10 years as a housekeeper with Point Pleasant Hospital before retiring. Previously, she was employed for several years as a secretary with Prudential Insurance Company, Newark.
She was a loving a devoted mother.
She was predeceased in 1967 by her husband, Karl Hensch.
Surviving are two sons, Karl R. and Eric; one daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Keith Stewart; her sister, Doris Oram; and three grandchildren, Kristina, Shane and Matthew Stewart.

Anthony L. Ferrentino
Brielle resident Anthony L. Ferrentino, whose daughters live in Point Pleasant, died Tuesday, Oct. 4 in his home.
He was 76 years old.
Born and raised in Brooklyn, N.Y., Anthony lived in Blauvelt, N.Y. for 10 years, and Sea Girt for 20 years before settling in Brielle.
He was a 1953 graduate of Newark College of Engineering.
He was employed for almost 30 years as a mechanical engineer with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey.
Anthony and his wife loved to travel, traveling cross-country, abroad and on cruises to the islands. He was a self-proclaimed restaurant connoisseur. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He thoroughly loved to spend time with his family, especially caring for all the families’ pets.
Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Marianne Tibke Ferrentino; three daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Paul Bandlow, Doylestown, Pa. and Point Pleasant, Diane and Matthew Zahorsky, and Ellen and John Morra, all of Point Pleasant; and seven grandchildren, Sophie, Jack and Karl Bandlow, Olivia Zahorsky and John, William and Julia Morra.

Doris Maxwell Corso
Toms River resident Doris A. Maxwell Corso, whose son lives in Point Pleasant, died Sunday, Oct. 9 in her home.
She was 73 years old.
Born in Jersey City, Mrs. Corso lived in West New York and Storm Lake, Iowa, before moving to Toms River in 1962.
She was a communicant of St. Justin’s Church, Toms River, and a member of The Marian Movement of Priests, Rosary Altar Society and Light of Life Prayer Group.
She was predeceased in 1998 by her husband, Charles J. Corso Sr., and by her sister, Virginia Maxwell.
Surviving are three sons, Charles J. Jr., of South Carolina, Anthony P., Toms River, and Steven W., of Point Pleasant; and two daughters, Patricia Davies, of England, and Kathleen F. Cook, Lanoka Harbor, Lacey.

Margaret E. Taylor
Point Pleasant Beach resident Margaret E. Taylor died Friday, Sept. 30.
She was 92 years old.
Born in Toronto, Mrs. Taylor lived in Hampstead, N.C., and lived in Point Pleasant Beach for 66 years.
She was predeceased by her husband, George, and her daughter, Margaret “Peggy.”
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, William and Barbara, Hampstead, N.C.; two granddaughters, Sandra Gale, Jackson, and Lisa Hemberger, Marlton; and three great-grandsons, Robert, Michael and Bryan.
Clifton B. Phillips
Tequesta, Fla., resident Clifton Bennette Phillips, formerly of Bay Head, died Thursday, Sept. 29.
Mr. Phillips was born in Yonkers, N.Y.
He was a U.S. Navy Coast Guard veteran, serving from 1942 to 1946.
He was an avid fisherman along the New Jersey and Florida coasts.
He was predeceased by his parents, George Elton and Clara Bennette Phillips; two brothers, Elton and Lyndon Phillips; and two sisters, Clare Alotrico and Ruth Jonach.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Eleanor P. Phillips, and many nieces and nephews who will miss him greatly.
