Robert John Galli
Murrells Inlet, S.C. resident Robert John Galli, whose son lives in Point Pleasant, died Sunday, Oct. 9 in National Health Care.
He was 73 years old.
Born in Union City, he lived in Ramsey and Eastham, Mass., before moving to Murrells Inlet in 1998.
He was employed as a structural steel draftsman with a fabricating company, and had most recently been employed as a gate keeper with The Reserve, Litchfield, S.C.
He was a member of Berlin Memorial United Methodist Church.
He was a loving husband, father and grandfather who will be greatly missed. He was an avid fisherman.
He was predeceased by his parents, Joseph and Jennie Conod Galli.
Surviving are his wife of 53 years, Charlotte Galli; two sons, Russell and his fiancee, Tina Holden, Collierville, Tenn., and Ronald and his wife, Kim, Point Pleasant; one daughter, Nancy Carlson and her fiance, Gary Vandenberg, Grand Rapids, Mich.; his brother, Alfred, Galveston, Texas; and six grandchildren, Jonathan, Clark, Melissa and Mackenzie Galli, and Jennie and Sam Carlson.
Funeral arrangements are from the Goldfinch Funeral Home, Murrells Inlet, S.C. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. tomorrow in Berlin Memorial United Methodist Church in Murrells Inlet, S.C.

Joseph K. Brown
Point Pleasant resident Joseph K. Brown died Thursday, Oct. 13 in his home.
He was 72 years old.
Born in New Brunswick, Mr. Brown lived in North Arlington for 35 years before moving to Point Pleasant nine years ago.
He was employed for 29 years as a union representative, secretary and treasurer with International Paper Workers Union Local No. 300, Hillside, before retiring in 1992.
He was a member of St. Peter’s Church, Point Pleasant Beach.
He was an Army veteran, serving during the Korean War.
He was predeceased by his brother, Charles, and two sisters, Evelyn Chasmar and Doris Vogt.
Surviving are his wife, Rita O’Connell Brown; four daughters, Susan Taylor, of Virginia, Cynthia Varakian, of Florida, Celeste Smiley, of Belleville, and Sheila DeMedici, of Point Pleasant; one brother, George, of Mystic Island; and seven grandchildren, Sheila Basile, Jennifer and Timothy Smiley, and Christine, Courtney, Erica and Kelly DeMedici; a great-grandchild, Aiden Basile; two sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law, Mary and Thomas Tantullo, Brick Township; and Jean Render, Lakewood; and many nieces and nephews.

Jerome John Brennan
Point Pleasant resident Jerome John Brennan died Tuesday, Oct. 11 in his home.
He was 73 years old.
Born in Elizabeth, Mr. Brennan moved to Point Pleasant in 1959.
He attended St. Mary’s School.
He was employed with Ciba-Geigy/Norvartis, Toms River, where he worked his way up to production supervisor, and rose to a high-level manager. He was transferred to help start up Ciba’s new facility in Mobile, Ala, as plant manager in charge of distribution, and retired in 1991 after 32 years with the corporation. He then was the owner/operator for 11 years, along with his daughter, Carolyn, of a shipping business in Brick Township before retiring in 2003.
Jerome was a man of great integrity and honesty. His devotion to his family made him a beloved brother, father, grandfather and husband. He devot ed his time to his grandchildren, and enjoyed going to Monmouth Park Race Track with his brothers along with working on home projects.
He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran, and was selected to serve aboard the aircraft carrier USS Leyte, touring Europe and the Mediterranean.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Thomas and Anthony, and one sister, Nona Smithers.
Surviving are his former wife, Joan Kwiatkowski-Brennan; two sons and one daughter-in-law, William J. Brennan, Imperial Beach, Calif., and Brian T. and Melissa Molas Brennan,Toms River; two daughters and sons-in-law, Barbara and Stephen O’Connor, and Carolyn Brennan and Cubby Starzman, all of Point Pleasant; four brothers, Vincent and John, both of Elizabeth, Joseph, Spring Lake, and Brendan, Clark; two sisters, Mary Brennan, Clark, and Joan Brennan-Smith, Elizabeth, and four grandchildren, Kevin and Sean O’Connor, and Colin and Christian Brennan.

Joseph J. Krautheim, PH.D.
Point Pleasant resident Joseph J. Krautheim, PH.D., died Wednesday, Oct. 12 in Ocean Medical Center, Brick Township.
He was 70 years old.
Born in Totowa, Dr. Krautheim was a graduate of Boonton High School and earned degrees from Farleigh Dickinson University and Murray State University, in Kentucky, before earning a doctorate in education from the University of Pittsburgh in 1971. He also studied at La Sorbonne in Paris and the University of Vienna.
Dr. Krautheim was an educator for over 40 years, including teaching in the Brick Township, Moon area, in Pennsylvania, and Point Pleasant Beach districts, before supervisory work in Marlboro, Somerset County Vocational-Technical, Cape May County Vocational and Plainfield systems. For the past 20 years, he was also employed with the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority’s Local No. 137 Union as a peri-mutual clerk with Monmouth Racetrack, Oceanport, during the summer.
He was a parishioner of St. Martha’s Church, Point Pleasant.
He was an avid supporter of the Metro Lyric Opera Company.
He was an Army veteran, serving between 1954 and 1957 in the 587th Transportation and 11th Airborne divisions, primarily working as a helicopter mechanic at Oberschleissheim Airfield near Munich.
He was predeceased by his parents, Michael S., in 1986, and Mary Della Veneri Krautheim, in 1990, and by his brother, Frank, in 1982.
Surviving are his wife, Janet L.; three sons and one daughter-in-law, Joseph and Stephanie, Brick, James J., Point Pleasant, and Matthew, Brooklyn, N.Y.; one brother, Michael R., Tampa, Fla.; one sister, Maryann Bishop Smith, Forked River; and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Michael J. Borga
Toms River resident Michael J. Borga, whose son lives in Point Pleasant, died Friday, Oct. 14 in Community Medical Center, Toms River.
Born and raised in Toms River, Mr. Borga resided on Hooper Avenue all his life.
He was one of the original graduates of Toms River High School, before it became Tom River High School South.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
He was a member of the A.J. Weeks VFW Lodge, Toms River.
Through the years, Mr. Borga was very involved in his community, and often attended the Toms River Community Board meetings.
Surviving are his beloved wife, Frances A. Borga; his devoted children, Michael Jr., Point Pleasant, Patricia Cliver, Mount Holly, and Maria Borga and Karen Borga, both of Toms River; his loving grandchildren, Maria, Michele, Alexandra, Rebecca, Michael III, Chris and Cameron; and his great-grandchildren, Melissa, Danielle and Stephanie.

Robert Girone
Barnegat resident Robert Girone, whose son lives in Point Pleasant, died Friday, Oct. 14 in his home.
He was 67 years old.
Born in Jersey City, Mr. Girone lived in Ringwood and Long Beach before recently moving to Barnegat.
He was employed as a salesman with Residex Corp., Clark, retiring in 1999. Previously, he was employed as a technician with Western Termite & Pest Company, and after retiring he consulted within the pest-control industry and conducted training sessions for the New Jersey Pest Control Association.
He was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church, Brant Beach, where he was facilitator to the Cornerstone Retreat.
He was a former member of the Knights of Columbus Union City Council.
Mr. Girone was an avid New York Giants fan, held interest in decoy carving, and was a proud grandfather.
Surviving are his wife, Irene Krynicki Girone; two sons, Robert, Point Pleasant, and Gary, Woodbridge; one daughter, Lesley Richmond, West Milford; one sister, Phyllis Girone, Edison; and seven grandchildren, Stefanie, Christian, Ariel, Erica, Nicole, Hannah and Skylar.

Helen L. Gross
Brick Township resident Helen L. Estelle Gross, whose daughter lives in Point Pleasant, died Monday, Oct. 17 in her home.
She was 69 years old.
Born in Lakewood, Mrs. Gross lived in Point Pleasant before moving to Brick 50 years ago.
She was a 1953 Point Pleasant Beach High School graduate.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Brick.
She was a member of the Brick Township Booster Club during the 1970s.
She loved to garden, cook, do puzzles, and spend time with her family.
Surviving are her husband of 52 years, George; one son, George Jr., of Florida; five daughters, Helen Costagliola, Toms River, Patricia Miller, Somers Point, Laura Shu, of Wisconsin, Valerie Abramo, Brick, and Karen DeLucca, Point Pleasant; one brother, John Estelle, Brick; an aunt, Elizabeth Emley, Point Pleasant; 18 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were from the Colonial Funeral Home, Brick. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. today in the funeral home.
