Helen V. Hayes
Point Pleasant Beach resident Helen Vietello Hayes died Monday, Sept. 12 in Claremont Center, Point Pleasant.
She was 90 years old.
Born in Newark, Mrs. Hayes lived in the Forrest Hills section, before moving to Point Pleasant Beach over 54years ago.
She was a homemaker.
She was a communicant of St. Peter’s Church, Point Pleasant Beach.
She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas.
Surviving are one son, Thomas M.; one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Herbert Collins, Browns Mills; three grandchildren, Jessicalynn, Carl and T.J. Schanck; and seven great-grandchildren, Amberlynn, Patrick, Aiden, Aila, Rosa Marie, T.J. Jr. and Samantha.
Funeral arrangements are from the Pable-Evertz Funeral Home, Point Pleasant. Visitation will be today from 7 to 9 p.m. A funeral liturgy will be celebrated tomorrow at 9 a.m. in St. Peter’s Church, Point Pleasant Beach.
Russell L. Archer
Point Pleasant Beach resident Russell L. Archer died Tuesday, Sept. 13 in Ocean Medical Center, Brick Township.
He was 76 years old.
Mr. Archer was a lifelong resident of Point Pleasant Beach.
He was employed for over 25 years with Allstate Insurance Company, Brick Township, retiring as a claims representative. Previously, he was employed with New Jersey Manufacturers Insurance Company, West Trenton. He also served as a police officer with the Mantoloking Police Department, and as a part time officer with the Point Pleasant Beach Police Department.
He was a member of the Central United Methodist Church, Point Pleasant Beach, and was in fellowship with the Harvey Memorial United Methodist Church, Point Pleasant.
Mr. Archer was a member of the Durand Lodge No. 179, F&AM, Point Pleasant Beach, and was a past active member of the Point Pleasant Beach First Aid Squad.
He was a Navy veteran of the Korean War, serving on the USS Hobson. He was one of only 76 survivors when the ship sank.
He was predeceased by his parents, Russell D. and Mary Johnson Archer.
Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Ruth Halpin Archer; one son and daughter-in-law, Russell W. and Charlene, Point Pleasant; two daughters and sons-in-law, Karen and Philip Maione, Bay Head, and Donna and Michael McCann, Point Pleasant Beach; his aunt, Alice Thomson, Pennsville; five grandchildren, Alaina, Philip Jr., Patrick, Michael, and Tarah and her husband, Quincy; and one great-granddaughter, Hannah.
Funeral arrangements are from the Pable-Evertz Funeral Home, Point Pleasant. Visiting will be Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m in the funeral home. A funeral service will be held Monday, Sept. 19 at 10 a.m. in Central United Methodist Church, Point Pleasant.

Alix B. Stevens
Point Pleasant Beach resident Alix B. Stevens died Thursday, Aug. 18 in Ocean Medical Center, Brick Township.
Born and raised in Princeton, Mrs. Stevens lived in Hillsborough for 25 years before moving to Point Pleasant Beach 21 years ago.
She earned a bachelor’s degree in arts/political science from the University of Pennsylvania.
While living in Hillsborough, she was active in the community and served on the Hillsborough Township Board of Education.
Mrs. Stevens was an avid reader, swimmer, and gardener, who enjoyed cooking and creating crafts and needlework. She was also an artist who enjoyed painting beach scenes and seascapes. Her home at the beach will be remembered in many ways, and she will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Pamela Gale Stevens, and by her parents, Dr. Ralph and Ruth Pine Belford.
Surviving are her husband, Philip G. Stevens; her son, John B. Stevens; her daughter, Phyllis A. Razey; one brother, Jeff Belford, one sister, Anne B. Ulanov; and seven grandchildren.

Father Julius Toth
Point Pleasant Beach resident Father Julius Toth, O.F.M. Conv., died Wednesday, Aug. 17 in his home.
He was 81 years old.
Father Julius was born in Marianostra, Hungary.
He entered the Conventual Franciscan Order in Hungary where he took his religious vows in 1948. He completed his studies for the Priesthood in Rome and Naples, Italy, and was ordained in 1953. He offered his first Mass at the Basilica of Holy House of Loretto, alleged to have been the dwelling of the Holy Family. He was fond of recalling that he was the last seminarian to have lived in the room once occupied by St. Maximilian Kolbe before it was turned into an oratory. Father Julius accepted a call by the Minister General to go to Montreal, Canada, to serve in the ethnic parish of Our Lady Queen of Hungary. From there he went to St. Francis Parish in Hoboken, where he made good use of his fluency in the Italian and Slavic languages. He served there for 24 years, many of them as pastor. His ministry took him next to Riverside, where he served as pastor. In poor health, Father Julius came to St. Peter’s Church, Point Pleasant Beach, where he continued to be involved in sacramental ministry in the parish.
In the places where he ministered, Father Julius will be remembered for his quick wit and readiness to help all who came to him in need.
He was predeceased by his sister, Anna Szabo.
Surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Charles Walter Haber
Point Pleasant resident Charles “Charlie” Walter Haber died Sunday, Aug. 21 in his home.
He was 17 years old.
Born in Morristown, Charlie lived in Knowlton before moving to Point Pleasant eight years ago.
Charlie was going to be a senior at Point Pleasant High School. He was captain of the cross country team and a member of the track team.
He was employed for the summer with Fisherman’s Supply in Point Pleasant Beach.
He was a volunteer with Point Pleasant Fire Company No. 1.
Surviving are his parents, Richard and Mary Haber; his brother, Sammy Haber, at home; his paternal grandmother, Jane Haber, Berkeley; and his maternal grandparents, Joseph and Mary Gorzelnik, Sunset Manor, Dover Township.
Funeral arrangements were from the Van Hise & Callagan Funeral Home, Point Pleasant Beach.
Contributions in Charlie’s memory may be made to the Charlie Haber Scholarship Fund, which will be awarded to a student at Point Pleasant High School.
Andrew F. Greineisen
Gettysburg, Pa., resident Andrew Francis Greineisen, formerly of Point Pleasant, died Tuesday, Aug. 16 in his home.
He was 27 years old.
Born in Toms River, Mr. Greineisen lived in Point Pleasant before moving to Gettysburg two months ago.
He was a communicant of St. Martha’s Church, Point Pleasant.
Surviving are his parents Stanley Raymond and Phyllis Greineisen, Gettysburg, Pa.; two brothers, Jay Greineisen, Flemington, and Fred Meyer, Brick Township; three sisters, Lynn Leslie, Boston, Lisa Hudson, Las Vegas, Nev., and Cheryl Meyer, Boca Raton, Fla.; his aunts and uncles, William and Maureen Piper, Rahway, Paul Piper and Nancy Perry, Union, and Pete Piper, Elizabeth, Colo.; and two nephews, Zachary Meyer and Evan Meyer.

Dennis Kinsella
Westfield resident Dennis Kinsella, formerly of Point Pleasant, died Tuesday, Aug. 16 in his home.
He was 59 years old.
Born in Kearny, Mr. Kinsella lived in Harrison and Scotch Plains. He moved to Westfield in 1974, where he lived for 22 years, then moved to Point Pleasant where he lived for five years before returning to Westfield to live in 2000.
Dennis volunteered many years with the American Red Cross-Westfield-Mountainside Chapter, chairing many boards and committees prior to becoming the executive director of the Westfield-Mountainside Red Cross Chapter in a full-time capacity for the past 10 years, where he was extremely successful raising monies for the Red Cross through his many charity golf outings. Prior to the Red Cross, he was a salesman for 20 years, with Thomas Lincoln Mercury, Westfield.
He was the past president of the Westfield Soccer Association, former commissioner of the Westfield Recreation Commission, and a member of the Westfield Rotary.
Surviving are his wife, Patricia Walsh Kinsella; one son and daughter-in-law, Dennis and Kelly; one daughter and son-in-law, Liz and John; one brother, John; four sisters, Geraldine Edwards, Mary Ellen DeGeso, Kate Reis and Reenie Young; and three grandchildren, Jack, Katie and Kevin.
