George Lammers Sr.
Point Pleasant resident George H. Lammers Sr. died Wednesday, Aug. 18 in Ocean Medical Center, Brick Township.
He was 78 years old.
Born in Hoboken, Mr. Lammers lived in Jersey City before moving to Point Pleasant in 1981.
He was employed for 27 years as a sheet metal worker with Western Electric Corp., Kearney, retiring in 1978.
He was a member of St. Martha’s Church, Point Pleasant.
He was a former member of the Holy Name Society of St. Paul’s Church, and of the Knights of Columbus, both of Jersey City, and of the Hudson County Speakers Bureau. He was a member of the American Legion Post No. 1000, Point Pleasant Beach, and of the Telephone Pioneers of America.
He was a Merchant Marine veteran of World War II.
He was predeceased in 1994 by both his wife, Ann, and his brother, Edward.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, George H. and Camille, Howell Township; one daughter and son-in-law, Catherine and Donald Bookman, Brick; one sister, Bertha Lammers, Toms River; and one granddaughter, Annie Bookman.
Funeral arrangements were from the Colonial Funeral Home, Brick.
Helen C. Onto
Little Egg Harbor Township resident Helen C. Onto, formerly of Point Pleasant, died Friday, Aug. 20 in Seacrest Village Nursing Home, Little Egg Harbor.
She was 79 years old.
Mrs. Onto lived in Manasquan and Point Pleasant before moving to Little Egg Harbor.
She was employed for many years with Sears, Neptune, before retiring in 1981. She then worked as an advertising executive for a brief time before relocating to Little Egg Harbor.
She was predeceased in 1987 by her husband, Anthony, and in 1995 by her son, James.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Anthony Jr. and Diane, Point Pleasant; one daughter and son-in-law, Helen Onto-Murphy and Charles Murphy, Little Egg Harbor; one brother, George Scott,of Florida; and two grandchildren, Kristen and Keith, both of Point Pleasant.
Private funeral arrangements were from the Parcels Funeral Home, Absecon.
Frank J. Santanello Jr.
Whiting, Manchester Township, resident Frank Joseph Santanello Jr., whose son lives in Point Pleasant, died Sunday, Aug. 22.
He was 67 years old.
Born in Bradley Beach, Mr. Santanello was a lifelong Jersey Shore resident.
He was a graduate of Neptune High School.
He was the owner for many years of Shell service stations and for five years of the Lavallette Coin Laundry. He was the manager for the U-Store-It self-storage facility in Brick Township, retiring in 2000 after 10 years in the industry. Also, he taught computer classes for 10 years with the Toms River Community Adult School and did private consulting work.
He was a communicant of the Church of the Ascension, Bradley Beach. Along with his wife, he was a founding contributor of St. Justin’s Church, Toms River, and a sponsor of the Festival of the Atlantic, Point Pleasant Beach.
He was an Army veteran, serving from 1955 to 1957 while stationed in Germany.
He enjoyed day trips, was known for his expertise in home renovation, and loved retirement. He was a loving father and grandfather.
He was predeceased by his parents, Frank and Edna Santanello/ and his sister, Elizabeth Oliveto.
Surviving are his loving wife of 45 years, Patricia Gorham Santanello; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Thomas F. and Paula, Bowie, Md., Robert A. and Joan, Point Pleasant, and Jeffrey S., Allentown; seven grandchildren, Miranda, Sean, Dylan, Erin, Zachary and Valerie Santanello, and Stephen Schermerhorn; two brothers and one sister-in-law, James, Bradley Beach, and Joseph and Barbara, Palm Harbor, Fla.; one sister, Frances Sauta, Manchester; his uncle, Louis Stojkiewicz, Allenwood, Wall Township; and numerous in-laws, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

Robert T. Sylvester
Spring Lake resident Robert Thomas Sylvester, whose daughter lives in Point Pleasant, died Sunday, Aug. 22 in his daughter’s home in Brick Township.
He was 77 years old.
Born in Lake Como, Mr. Sylvester was a lifelong resident of Spring Lake.
He was employed for his entire working career as a sheet metal roofer with Chester Heulitt Sheet Metal Co., Spring Lake Heights, retiring in 1977.
He was a communicant of St. Catharine and St. Margaret’s parish, Spring Lake.
He was a member of the Dawn Patrol Golf Club, the Belmar Elks Lodge, and the Point Pleasant Fire Company.
Surviving are three daughters, Carol Erdman, Brick, Lynne Toskovich, McLean, Va., and Randi Titmas, Point Pleasant; two brothers, Jack and Charles, both of Spring Lake; three sisters, Eva Goss and Helen Carmen, both of New York, and Margaret Todd, Vero Beach, Fla.; eight grandchildren; one great-grandson; and his special friends, Lillian, Ira and Bill.

Frank C. Capozzi
Point Pleasant resident Frank C. Capozzi died Monday, Aug. 23 in Ocean Medical Center, Brick Township.
He was 73 years old.
Born in Belleville, Mr. Capozzi lived in Bloomfield before moving to Point Pleasant 19 years ago.
He was employed as vice president of H & H Enterprises Trucking Co., Fords, for 20 years, retiring in 1994.
He was a communicant of St. Martha’s Church, Point Pleasant.
He was a former member of the VFW in Nutley.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
He was predeceased in 1989 by son, Frank Charles Capozzi Jr.
Surviving are his wife, Angelina Christiano Capozzi; two daughters and sons-in-law, Debbie and Gerard Capasso, East Hanover, and Charlene and Ron Ricci, Toms River; one brother, Michael Capozzi, of North Carolina; and seven grandchildren, Gerard and Desirae Capasso, Daniel, Nicole, Krista, and Ronnie Ricci, and Frank C. Capozzi III.
Funeral arrangements are from the Colonial Funeral Home, Brick. A funeral Mass will be offered at 11 a.m. today in St. Martha’s Church, Point Pleasant.

Gerard W. Ebert
Lavallette resident Gerard W. Ebert died Monday, Aug. 23 in his home.
He was 66 years old.
Born in Brooklyn, Mr. Ebert lived in Ringwood before moving to Lavallette six years ago.
He was employed for 25 years as a systems analyst with Warner Lambert, Morris Plains, before retiring in 1994.
He was a member of St. Bonaventure Church, Lavallette.
He served in the National Guard.
Surviving are his wife, Marilyn Zicaro Ebert; one son and daughter-in-law, Kevin and Trish Ebert, Hewitt; two daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Al Gieger, Warwick, N.Y., and Denise and Glen Pfanner, Gallatin,Tenn.; and eight grandchildren.

Grant W. Titus
Lavallette resident Grant W. Titus died Sunday, Aug. 22 in Community Medical Center, Toms River.
He was 75 years old.
Born in Clifton, Mr. Titus lived in Paterson and Clifton before moving to Lavallette in 1991.
He was a mortician for 50 years first with the Scanlan Funeral Home, Paterson, before spending most of his career with the Norman A. Parker Funeral Home, Little Falls, retiring in 1990.
He was a member of the Union Church of Lavallette, and a member of the Men’s Club of the church.
He was a member of American Legion Post No. 121, Little Falls.
He was an Army veteran of the Korean War.
He will be sadly missed at the Lavallette Elementary where he volunteered as a “shredder” for the Board of Education and also by his neighbors and friends on Newark Avenue, where he was affectionately called the “Mayor.”
Surviving are his wife, Joan Matthews Titus; one son and daughter-in-law, Jack and Karen, Clarkville, Md.; one daughter and son-in-law, Jill and Craig Lorenz, Lavallette; five grandchildren, Matthew, Marc, Megan, Kristina and Michael; and his dog, Willy.
Funeral arrangements are from the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, Toms River. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow in Union Church of Lavallette. Cremation will be private.
