Edward J. Coyne
Point Pleasant resident Edward J. Coyne died Tuesday, Aug. 3 at JSUMC after a long and courageous fight against a bone marrow disorder.
He was 70 years old.
Mr. Coyne was a tractor trailer driver for Exxon Co., Linden, for 25 years, retiring in 1988. He was also employed by Weisleider Lincoln Mercury for a number of years.
He was a member of the Point Pleasant Rotary Club for 24 years and a Paul Harris Fellow. He was also a Past Grand Knight of St. Martha’s Knights of Columbus Council 7926.
He was a devoted husband and father.
Surviving are his loving wife of 41 years, Carol; two children, Edward and Elaine; two grandchildren, John Robert Clark and Edward Dale Coyne; three brothers, John, Port Orange, Fla., Tom Dumont, N.J., George, Groton, Conn.; and his sister, Kathleen Lahey, Woodbridge.
Funeral arrangements are from Pable-Evertz Funeral Home, Point Pleasant. Friends may call 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. and 7:00 - 9:00 p.m. today at the funeral home. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 9:30 a.m. tomorrow at St. Martha’s Church. Burial
will be private.

Joan A. Cooley
Wesley Chapel, Fla. resident Joan A. Cooley, formerly of Point Pleasant, died Thursday, July 22 at her home.
She was 71 years old.
Born in Jersey City, Ms. Cooley moved to Wesley Chapel eight years ago from Point Pleasant.
Surviving are five children; her brother; two sisters; 11 grandchildren; and her great-grandchild.

Paul F. Byrne
Berkeley and former Middletown resident Paul F. Byrne, whose brother and sister-in-law live in Point Pleasant, died Tuesday, July 27 at home, surrounded by family and friends after a courageous four-month battle with cancer.
He was 61 years old.
Born and raised in Jersey City, Mr. Byrne lived there until moving to Rutherford in 1961. He moved to Middletown in 1974, where he lived until moving to Holiday City at Berkeley eight months ago.
He was a graduate of St. Peter’s Prep and St. Peter’s College.
He was an U.S. Army veteran, serving in the military police.
He was retired from Wall Street, where he worked for 30 years.
He was predeceased by his mother and father, Thomas and Kathleen Byrne.
Surviving are his wife of 37 years, Maureen Nienstadt Byrne; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Sean and Maria Byrne, Lincroft, Middletown, and Timothy Byrne and his girlfriend, Christine Ferrara, Middletown; two granddaughters, Katelyn and Shannon Byrne, Lincroft; three brothers and a sister-in-law, Tommy, Rutherford, Bobby, Rutherford, and Billy and Kathy Byrne, Point Pleasant; his sister and brother-in-law, Mary and Joe Ruggio, Bloomfield; his mother-in-law, Mary Nienstadt, Lincroft; his sister-in-law, Susan Wasko, Bayonne; his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Sharon and Vinny Smith, Middletown; his nieces, Lauran Smith, Mariclaire Smith, and Brittney Byrne; and his nephews, Matthew Wasko and Todd Smith.

Trina E. Methven
Whiting, Manchester resident Trina E. Methven, who previously had lived in Lavallette, died Saturday, July 10 in Community Medical Center.
She was 97 years old.
Born in Paterson, Mrs. Methven lived in Closter and Lavallette before moving to Whiting in 1998.
She owned and operated the Closter Bake Shop along with her late husband, Richard, from 1937 to 1955.
Surviving are a daughter and son-in-law, Jean L. and Gilbert Buhler, Whiting; three granddaughters, Linda Hayes, Susan Sullivan and Carolyn Smith; and six great-grandchildren.

Howard J. Williams
Point Pleasant resident Howard J. Williams died Thursday, July 8 in Claremont Care Center, Point Pleasant.
He was 77 years old.
Born in Newark, Mr. Williams lived in Orange before moving to Point Pleasant in 1960.
He served in the Navy during World War II.
He was a bus driver for the N.J. Transit Authority in Newark for 35 years, retiring 15 years ago.
He was third-degree past grand knight of the Knights of Columbus of St. Denis’ Church, Manasquan. He was a member of St. Peter’s Church, Point Pleasant Beach.
He was predeceased by his wife, Janet Williams.
Surviving are a son, Frederick Williams, La Puento, Calif.; a granddaughter, Kathleen Williams; and four sisters, Florence Rollison, Pompton, Pa., Gertrude Mulhern, Manchester, Evelyn Smith, Middletown, and Elizabeth Bonavita, Manchester.

Corriene Pangaro-Barone
Brick Township resident Corriene M. Curran Pangaro-Barone, whose sister lives in Point Pleasant, died Wednesday, July 7 in her home.
She was 64 years old.
Born in Jersey City, Mrs. Pangaro-Barone lived in Brick since 1968.
She was a homemaker.
She was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 4715 Ladies Auxiliary, Point Pleasant, and an avid bingo player at St. Peter’s Church, Point Pleasant Beach.
She was a communicant of St. Martha’s Church, Point Pleasant.
She was predeceased by her first husband, Joseph Pangaro.
Surviving are her husband, Rocco J. Barone; two sons, Joseph Pangaro and Todd Pangaro, both of Brick; six stepchildren, Laura Lenhart, Susan Muench, David Barone, Ella Cipolla, Jena Barone, and Toni Lee Barone; 13 grandchildren, Joseph, Alex, Marisa, Jack, Todd Jr., Kaitlyn and Jake Scott, Michael and Sara Jane Muench, Matthew Cipolla, and Ashley, Arielle and David Barone Jr.; a brother, John Curran, Jersey City; and three sisters, Grace Lauer, Wall Township, Gloria Wallace, Point Pleasant, and Joan Cooley, Tampa, Fla.

Thomas John Bull
Homosassa, Fla., resident Thomas John Bull, formerly of Point Pleasant, died Sunday, July 4 in his home.
He was 65 years old.
Surviving are his wife of 36 years, Dorothea A. “Dorrie” Wardell Bull; a son, Steven J. Bull; a daughter, Carrie L. Stiglich; and five grandchildren, Bradley Bull, Christopher Bull, Madisyn Stiglich, Angelle Bull and Bailey Stiglich.

Leslie A. Elms
Lakewood resident Leslie A. Elms, whose daughters and sons-in-law live in Point Pleasant, died Sunday, July 4 in Harrogate Care Facility, Lakewood.
He was 82 years old.
Born in Merchantville, Mr. Elms lived in Beachwood before moving to Lakewood in 2003.
He was a World War II Army veteran.
He was the owner/operator of Nobles & Peck Auto Repair, South Toms River, for over 15 years, retiring in 1990.
He was a member of the Elks, Toms River Lodge and the First Methodist Church of Island Heights.
He was predeceased by a sister, Thelma Meissner.
Surviving are his wife, Norma Campbell Elms; a son, Richard Fennelly, Florida; four daughters and sons-in-law, Robin Elms Prandelli and Andreas Prandelli, Beachwood, Patricia Fennelly Cooke and Peter Cooke, Point Pleasant, Susan Fennelly Leone and Kenneth Leone, Beachwood, and Mary Lou Fennelly Blake and Richard Blake, Point Pleasant; a brother, Harold “Gil” Elms, Bayville, Berkeley; a sister, Harriett Wright, Lakewood; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
