Clarence W. Pear Jr.
Point Pleasant resident Clarence W. “Bunny” Pear Jr. died Tuesday, July 6 in Ocean Medical Center, Brick Township.

He was 70 years old.

Born in Plainfield, Mr. Pear lived in North Plainfield before moving to Point Pleasant 25 years ago.

He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, serving during the Korean War as an airplane mechanic for the Strategic Air Command.

He was a fleet service manager for Car Rentals Inc., Piscataway, and an American Motors Leased Fleet Manager, Detroit, before moving to Point Pleasant.

He was a volunteer fireman more than 20 years in North Plainfield and an associate member of Point Pleasant Fire Company No. 2.

With his wife, he had owned Boro Cleaners, Point Pleasant, retiring 12 years ago due to a stroke.

He was an avid fisherman, hunter, camper and NASCAR fan.

He was predeceased by his brother, Robert Pear.

Surviving are his wife, Sandy Smith Pear; a son, Michael Pear, Point Pleasant; a daughter and son-in-law, Laura and Kevin Varela, Point Pleasant; four grandchildren, Christopher, Brighid, James and Rhianna, Point Pleasant; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, John and Susan Pear, Raritan Township, William Pear, Hazelton, Pa., Richard and Susan Pear, Brick, and Kenneth and Elise Pear, Erwinna, Pa.; a sister and brother-in-law, Ann Marie and Nick Lombardi, Piscataway; and a sister-in-law, Elizabeth Pear.

Funeral arrangements were from Pable-Evertz Funeral Home, Point Pleasant.

Contributions in his memory may be made to the Point Pleasant First Aid, P.O. Box 3, Point Pleasant.

Doris L. Dougherty
Herrick, Pa., resident Doris Lindsay Dougherty, formerly of Point Pleasant, died Wednesday, July 7 in The Claremont Center, Point Pleasant.

She was 82 years old.

Born in Linden, Mrs. Dougherty lived there and in Edison before moving to Point Pleasant in 1955. She moved to Herrick in 1983.

She was predeceased by her parents, William and Margaret Dunn Lindsay.

Surviving are her husband of 62 years, Neil Joseph Dougherty; a son, Neil Joseph Dougherty IV and his wife, Margaret, Point Pleasant; a granddaughter and her husband, Margaret and Craig Tolley; and two great-grandsons, Branden Arthur and Shaun Neil Tolley, Stewartsville.

Funeral arrangements were from Pable-Evertz Funeral Home, Point Pleasant.

Dr. Joseph L. Pedicini
Point Pleasant resident Dr. Joseph L. Pedicini died Saturday, July 10 in Ocean Medical Center, Brick Township.

He was 83 years old.

Born in Newark, Dr. Pedicini lived in Livingston before moving to Point Pleasant seven years ago.

He was an undergraduate at the University of Indiana and graduated from the University of Indiana Medical School in 1944.

He was a World War II Army veteran and attained the rank of captain.

He maintained a medical practice in Belleville for 59 years.

He was an associate professor at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and the director of rehabilitation at Clara Maass Hospital, Belleville, and Columbus Hospital, Newark.

He was predeceased by a brother, Dr. Salvatore Pedicini.

Surviving are his wife, Dorris Holthausen Pedicini; three sons, Dr. Paul Pedicini, Point Pleasant, William C. Pedicini, Landing, and James Pedicini, Madison; and six grandchildren, Joseph, Lauren, Kira, Cary, Elizabeth and Matthew.

Funeral arrangements were from Colonial Funeral Home, Brick.

Grace E. Signore
Brick Township resident Grace E. Signore, whose son lives in Point Pleasant, died Sunday, July 11 in Ocean Medical Center, Brick.

She was 86 years old.

Born in New York City, Mrs. Signore lived in Elizabeth before moving to Brick in 1967.

She was a homemaker.

She was a member of the Visitation Church, Brick, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8867 Ladies Auxiliary, Adamston Road, Brick.

Surviving are two sons, Jay Signore, Point Pleasant, and George Signore, Brick; four daughters, Theresa King and Grace Coyle, both of Brick, Dorothy Senz, Manchester, and Lillian Vollman, Brick; 10 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Funeral arrangements were from Silverton Memorial Funeral Home, Toms River.

Donations to Deborah Heart and Lung Hospital, Browns Mills, would be appreciated.

Robert F. Koch
Point Pleasant resident Robert F. Koch died Saturday, June 26 in Ocean Medical Center, Brick Township.

He was 81 years old.

Born in Irvington, Mr. Koch lived in Clark for 26 years until moving to Point Pleasant 27 years ago.

He was a pilot in the Navy during World War II.

He graduated in 1950 with a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, Troy, N.Y. While at college he was on the lacrosse All-Star Team and was center for the football team.

In 1948 he went to the Olympics playing on the lacrosse team, which at that time was an exhibition sport in the Olympics. His team won an exhibition medal in that sport which they played in Wembley Stadium, England.

He worked as a construction engineer, then as a steamfitter for the Steamfitters Union Local No. 475, Newark, for 30 years before retiring 25 years ago.

He was a former Little League coach in Clark and was instrumental in starting the Clark Pop Warner Program, where he was also a coach.

He was predeceased by his wife, Mary Jane.

Surviving are two daughters, Kathleen Busacca and Patricia Lawrence, both of Point Pleasant; two sons, Robert Koch, Point Pleasant, and William Koch, Toms River; 10 grandchildren; and one great-granddaughter.

Funeral arrangements were from Colonial Funeral Home, Brick.

Donations may be made in Mr. Koch’s name to the Point Pleasant First Aid Squad, Point Pleasant.

Rose A. Bonini
Point Pleasant resident Rose A. Noto Bonini died Wednesday, June 23 in Point Pleasant.

She was 94 years old.

Born in New York City, Mrs. Bonini lived there before moving to Jersey City in 1957. She moved to Point Pleasant in 2000.

She worked as a telephone operator for 21 years, retiring in 1974.

She was a past member of the Rosary Society of St. Paul of The Cross Church, Jersey City, and the Telephone Pioneers of America.

She was predeceased by her husband, George E. Bonini; three sons, Salvator, Louis and Joseph; and one grandson, Victor L. Bonini Jr.

Surviving are two sons, Victor and Louis; one daughter, Rosemarie Guzzardo; two daughters-in-law, Maureen and Barbara; one sister, Rachel Noto Fiszman; one brother, Daniel Noto; one granddaughter, Karina and her husband, Charles Monanian; six grandsons, Christopher, Frank, George E., Joseph Bonini, and Anthony and Michael Guzzardo; and five great-grandchildren, Victor L. III, Keleigh, Joseph Bonini, and Nicole and Charles Monanian.

Funeral arrangements were from the Lawton-Turso Funeral Home, Hoboken.

Paul E. Gayder
Lavallette resident Paul Edward Gayder died Wednesday, June 23 in his home.

He was 43 years old.

Born in South Orange, Mr. Gayder lived in Manasquan and Bayville before moving to Lavallette in 1998.

He was a bartender, marine technician and a devout Yankees and Eagles fan.

He served four years in the U.S. Coast Guard at the Barnegat Lighthouse and Inlet.

Surviving are his parents, Fredrick and Margaret Foley Gayder, Bayville; one brother, Vincent Gayder, Bayville; two sisters, Eileen and Claire Gayder, Bayville; three nephews, Vincent II, Sean and Erik Gayder, all of Bayville; and one niece, Elizabeth Gayder, Bayville.

Funeral arrangements were from the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, O’Connell Chapel, Bayville.
