Nancy J. Harvey
Brick Township resident Nancy J. Halpin Harvey, who was a member of a church in Point Pleasant, died Friday, June 25 in Kimball Medical Center, Lakewood.
She was 43 years old.
Born in Wall Township, Mrs. Harvey lived in Howell before moving to Brick 10 years ago.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Assembly of God Church, Point Pleasant.
Surviving are her husband, Paul W. Harvey; one son, Kyle Harvey; one daughter, Jennifer Harvey; her father, Edgar Halpin, Neptune; her mother, Barbara Halpin, Wall; and her maternal grandmother, Florence Johnson, Wall.
Funeral arrangements were from the Colonial Funeral Home, Brick.
John S. Marino
Berkeley resident John S. Marino, whose grandson lives in Point Pleasant, died Friday, June 25 in his home.
He was 92 years old.
Born in Old Forge, Pa., Mr. Marino lived in Newark and Belleville before moving to the Silver Ridge Park Westerly section of Berkeley 20 years ago.
He was a pipe fitter and fireman, working for Exxon Refinery, Linden, for many years before retiring in 1976.
He was a communicant of St. Maximilian Kolbe Church, Toms River. He was a former communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church, Newark, and a member of its Holy Name Society.
He was a member of the Men’s Exercise Group of Silver Ridge.
John will be remembered as a kind, caring and loving person. He was loved by all and was always ready to help everyone.
He was predeceased by his son, John Jack Marino; two brothers, Joseph Marino and Anthony Marino; and three sisters, Mary Casatico, Sister Marie Gemma and Florence Siegal.
Surviving are his wife of 67 years, Geraldine “Gerry” Tobia Marino, Berkeley; one daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Robert Rose, West Caldwell; one granddaughter and her husband, Michelle and Joseph Winkle, Cedar; one grandson and his wife, Robert and Susan Rose, Point Pleasant; one great-grandson, J.P. Winkle; many nieces and nephews; and many great-nieces and nephews.

William H. Slotterback
Manchester resident William H. Slotterback, whose daughter lives in Point Pleasant, died Friday, June 18 in his home.
He was 68 years old.
Born in Mount Carmel, Pa., Mr. Slotterback lived in Roselle before moving to Manchester 10 years ago.
He served in the Army during the Korean War from 1953 to 1955.
He spent 25 years working for Merck and Company, Rahway, before retiring in 1990.
Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Rose M. Slotterback; one son, Wayne Cosentino, Avella, Pa.; two daughters, Carol Jackus, Point Pleasant, and Sally Otero, Sabastian, Fla.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral arrangements were from DeGraff Lakehurst Funeral Home, Lakehurst.

Frank M. Coda Sr.
St. Marlo, Duluth, Ga. resident Frank M. Coda Sr., who spent his summers in Lavallette, died Friday, June 25 in his home.
He was 64 years old.
Born in Passaic, Mr. Coda lived in Clifton and Middletown before moving to Georgia 23 years ago.
He was the executive director for the Perlite Institute and then of the Illuminating Engineering Society, both of New York City.
He then was the vice president of the American Society of Heating Refrigeration and Air Conditioning Engineers for the past 23 years in Georgia.
He served in the U.S. Army National Guard as a first lieutenant.
He received his bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, N.Y., in 1961.
He was a member and usher of the St. Benedict’s Church, Duluth, Ga.
Surviving are his wife, Joyce McBurney Coda; three sons, Frank Jr., California, Christopher, Virginia, and Timothy, Connecticut; one daughter, Marion, Georgia; one brother, Robert, West Paterson; and two grandchildren, Meghann and John.
Funeral arrangements were from the Timothy E. Ryan Home for Funerals, Lavallette.

James A. Howard
Lakewood resident James A. Howard, whose daughter lives in Point Pleasant, died Sunday, June 27 in Meridian Nursing Home, Brick Township.
He was 63 years old.
Born in New York City, he lived in Staten Island before moving to Belmar. In recent years he lived in Lakewood.
He received an associate’s degree from Brookdale Community College.
He spent 20 years in the U.S. Navy, four years in the Vietnam War. He retired as the police dispatcher for Belmar Police Department in 1993, where he worked for 12 years. He also worked as a real estate broker for a short time.
He was the commander of the Belmar and Wall V.F.W. He is the former Scoutmaster of Cub Scout Pack 40, Belmar, and the former assistant Scoutmaster of Troop 40, Belmar. He is the former coach of Belmar Little League baseball Championship Team, and was part of Belmar’s emergency management team.
He was predeceased by his daughter, Cheryl Becker.
Mr. Howard is survived by his wife Dorothy; two sons, James V. Howard and his wife Lorraine, Lakewood and Charles G. Howard, Belmar; three daughters, Tina Martin and her husband James, Wall, Annette Henry and her husband Kevin, Point Pleasant, and Dawn Maghan and her husband Timothy, Wall; 10 grandchildren, James, Andrew and Spencer Howard, Michelle, Sandy and Jim Martin, Luke and Jack Henry, and Noah and Matthew Maghan.
Funeral arrangements were from the Reilly Funeral Home.

June K. Gough
Oakhurst, Ocean Township resident June Kuenzler Gough, who previously lived in Point Pleasant, died Monday, June 28 in her home.
She was 76 years old.
Raised in Cliffside Park, Mrs. Gough lived in Point Pleasant until moving to Oakhurst 40 years ago.
June worked as a receptionist for Charles Scribner’s sons Publishing Co., New York City, for four years before her marriage.
She was a devoted wife, mother and homemaker.
She was a member of the Oakhurst First United Methodist Church.
She was involved with the Cub Scouts, Girl Scouts and various volunteer organizations. For many years, she was a volunteer aide to a deaf and blind woman, with the Commission For The Blind.
After raising her children, she worked part-time as a switchboard operator at an answering service and for many years at Monmouth University.
June was a sweetheart and her warm spirit will live on in those who knew her.
Surviving are her husband of 52 years, William J. Gough; two sons, Stephen Gough and William M. Gough, both of Bradley Beach; one daughter and son-in-law, Holly and Carlos Salaverria, White Plains, N.Y.; two grandsons, Kevin and Dylan; her beloved cousins and “in-laws”; and numerous much-loved nieces, nephews, godsons and friends.
She wished to thank her cancer support group at Jersey Shore and the staff at Monmouth Medical Center.

Jeanette D. Van Pelt
Point Pleasant resident Jeanette D. Van Pelt died Monday, June 21, in Ocean Medical Center, Brick.
She was 68 years old.
Mrs. Van Pelt was a nurse’s aid at Point Pleasant Hospital for 15 years.
Born in Somerville, she lived in Manasquan before moving to Point Pleasant.
She was a graduate of Manasquan High School.
She was predeceased by her husband, Louis W. Van Pelt Sr. in 1985.
She is survived by: her mother, Susan Dempsey-Hancock, Manasquan; her son and daughter-in-law, Louis W. Jr. and Kathy Van Pelt, Point Pleasant; two daughters and sons-in-law, Kathryn and Michael Oltrichter Sr., Point Pleasant, and Sheri and Eric Bossick, Brick; her brother, Harry B. Dempsey Jr., Brick; a sister, Alyce Shinn, of Steuben, Maine; and six grandchildren, Nicole, Michael, Tyler, Kyle, Kaylee and Ashlee.
Funeral arrangements were by the Neary-Quinn Funeral home, 39 South St., Manasquan.
