GEORGINA E. "JEANNE" McDERBY, 81, of Little Silver died July 21 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Harrison, she lived in Rumson and High Bridge prior to moving to Little Silver in 1972. She was a homemaker. Prior to that, she worked for Central Railroad Company of New Jersey for several years. She was a communicant of St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank, and was a former member of Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, Rumson. She was a member of the Mayflower Society, as well as a member and past president of the Holy Cross PTA. She was predeceased by a son, Thomas Brian McDerby, in 1986; and a brother, Jack Maxham. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Andrews F. McDerby of Little Silver; her son and daughter-in-law, Timothy A. and Lori McDerby of Ovieda, Fla.; two daughters, Mary J. RALPH P. SANTORO, 75, of Middletown died Aug. 3 at home. Born in Jersey City, he moved to Middletown 30 years ago. He was a retired inspector for Hansane and Sons, Rahway, where he was employed for 12 years. Prior to that, he was a toll collector for the New Jersey Turnpike Authority for several years. He served with the U.S. Navy during World War II. He played minor league baseball for the Jersey City Destroyers. He was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Santoro. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Faye Pilla Santoro of Middletown; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Ralph J. and Wendy Santoro of Martinsville, Robert and Kelly Santoro of Middletown, and Michael J. Santoro of Red Bank; a daughter and son-in-law, Jane and Salvatore Falcone of Middletown; a brother, Frank Sanders of Toms River; a sister, Cecilia Hendrickson of Arizona; and six grandchildren. DENISE B. KNIGHT TOMAN, 41, of Brick and formerly Red Bank, died Aug. 16. She was born in Red Bank. She was a phlebotomist at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. She was predeceased by her sister, Deborah Knight Faller. She is survived by her husband and daughter, Glen Toman, and Katelynn Deborah Toman, both of Brick; her parents, Peter and Bernadine Knight of Red Bank; two sisters and one brother-in-law, Donna Knight of Manchester, and Doreen and Gregg Scott of Shark River; and several nieces and nephews. LAURICE A. FITZGERALD, 77, of Little Silver died Aug. 19 at home. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., she resided in Little Silver since 1956. She worked as a bookkeeper at Red Bank Catholic High School for 20 years. She was an active 45-year parishioner and member of the Rosary Altar Society at St. James Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. Her volunteer activities included the Meals on Wheels program for senior citizens. She is survived by her husband of 54 years, Kenneth Fitzgerald of Little Silver; two daughters, Maureen A. Grippen of Little Egg Harbor, and Nancy E. Everett of Purcellville, Va.; four sons, Stephen P. Fitzgerald of Hollywood, Calif., Michael J. Fitzgerald of Hawaii, Brian D. CHARLES J. RESCH SR., 86, of Eatontown died Aug. 17 in Columbus, Ohio. Born in Jersey City, he resided in Eatontown for the past 47 years. He was a retired director at the Eatontown Sewer Authority for several years. Prior to that, he was a project coordinator at AT&T, Newark, for 44 years. He was a communicant of St. Dorothea’s Roman Catholic Church, Eatontown. He was a member of the Eatontown Democratic Club; the Elks Lodge, Eatontown; and The Telephone Pioneers of America. He was predeceased by his wife, Dorothy Bott Resch. He is survived by two sons, Charles J. Resch Jr. of Tinton Falls, and Kerin Resch of Rockland, Maine; two daughters, Judith Spicer, and Carol E. JOHN McKAY, 74, of the Port Monmouth section of Middletown died Aug. 16 at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. Born in Port Monmouth, he was a lifelong resident. He worked as a custodian for the Middletown Board of Education for 30 years, retiring in 1991. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a former member of the Port Monmouth First Aid Squad. He was predeceased by a son, John F. McKay Jr., in 1957. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Betty Stevenson McKay of Port Monmouth; two daughters, MaryAnn McKay of Port Monmouth, and Patricia Sak of Keansburg; two sons, James F. McKay and Robert J. McKay, both of Port Monmouth; two brothers, Robert McKay of Orlando, Fla., and Joseph McKay of Deland, Fla.; two sisters, Margaret Gillette of Whiting, and Eileen Stevenson of Keansburg; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandson. JOSEPHINE FIGARO O’BRIEN, 88, of Shrewsbury died Aug. 22, 2001 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Long Branch, she lived in Red Bank prior to moving to Shrewsbury 39 years ago. She was a retired seamstress at Adams, Red Bank, and DeGenaro’s, for several years. She was a communicant of St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, Red Bank. Her activities included cooking, and she was also a member of the Shrewsbury Homesteaders. She was predeceased by her husband, George O’Brien; and her former husband, Dominic J. Figaro. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John R. and Martha Figaro of Shrewsbury; two daughters and one son-in-law, Angela Figaro of Shrewsbury, with whom she lived, and Joanne and Tom McNalley of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; her brother, Cosmo Renzella of Long Branch; two sisters, Anne Guarino of Toms River, and Louise Talerico of Tinton Falls; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. ALBERT M. "TED" BECK, 63, of Allenhurst died Sept. 8, 2001 at Tisch Hospital, New York City. Born in Butler, Pa., he had lived in Freehold and Colts Neck before moving to Allenhurst. Mr. Beck was the owner and operator of McKelvey’s Furniture Store, Freehold, from 1970 to 1987. He was also an owner of Freehold Electric, Freehold, from 1980 to 1992. He was a communicant of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church, Deal; and a member and former house committee chairman of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks Lodge No. 1454, Freehold. Mr. Beck is survived by a daughter, Jeanine L. Beck of Oceanport; two brothers, Robert L. "Bud" Beck of Freehold and George W. Beck of Holmdel; and his former wife, Linda J. Beck. ROBERT LEWIS BAINTON of Little Silver died Sept. 10, 2001 at St. Barnabas Hospice, Long Branch. Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., he lived in Rumson and Larchmont, N.Y., prior to moving to Little Silver six years ago. He was the president and owner of B & B Beverage, Long Branch, for more than 30 years. Prior to that, he was president at New Castle Brewery, New York, and vice president at Laird’s Apple Jack, Scobeyville. He served with the U.S. Army. He was a communicant of The Church of the Nativity, Fair Haven. He was head of the board of managers for the Association of Monmouth County Cancer Society, and enjoyed golf and rooting for the New York Giants. He was predeceased by his daughter, Mary Joy Bainton. He is survived by his wife, Florence Joy Bainton of Little Silver; his son, William Lewis Bainton of Tampa, Fla.; his brother, Donald J. Bainton of Florida; his sister, Patricia Bainton of Larchmont, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian Burial

MARY ELIZABETH SHEA, 74, of Rumson died Aug. 24, 2001 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Jackson Heights, N.Y., she had lived in Mineola, N.Y., before moving to Rumson in 1943. After raising her children, Mrs. Shea attended Rutgers University and worked as a counselor at The Women’s Resource Center, Keyport. She was predeceased by a daughter, Kelly; a sister, Catherine Beattie; and a brother, James Beattie. Mrs. Shea is survived by her husband of 53 years, Thomas A.; seven sons, Thomas Jr. of Wasilla, Alaska, Michael of Longmont, Colo., Mark of Tinton Falls, James of Rumson, Timothy of Shrewsbury, Peter of Berkeley Heights and Terrence of Fairfield, Conn.; two daughters, Gail Milne of Middletown and Tara Stevens of Shrewsbury; a sister, Theresa Trinkle of Whiting; 13 grandchildren; and she was expecting a great-grandchild to be born this month.
