Mildred Guadagino
Mildred Guadagnino, 83, of Point Pleasant, died Thursday, Dec. 16 at her residence.
She was born in Jersey City, N.J. and lived in the Vailsburg Section of Newark before moving to Point Pleasant in 1971.
She was a cafeteria worker for Point Pleasant Hospital and also for St. Joseph's by the Sea.
Mrs. Guadagnino was a communicant of St. Martha's Church and the Rosary Altar Society, Point Pleasant and the A.A.R.P.
She is predeceased by her first husband Joseph Quaranta in 2004, her second husband Bahattin Toker in 2000, and her brother Frank Guadagnino in 2007.
Surviving is her daughter Linda Quaranta Tuorto of Pt. Pleasant; her brother Angelo Guadagnino and his wife Mary of Point. Pleasant, and two grandchildren Larissa and Amanda Tuorto, her niece Frances Geroni and nephew Michael Guadagnino, and her sister-in-law Lorraine Guadagnino.
Colonial Funeral Home, Brick, was in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mildred's name can be made to the American Heart Association, P.O. Box 417005, Boston, MA, 02241.

Gail Louise Gifford
Gail Louise Gifford, 56, of Bordentown, formerly of Point Pleasant, passed away peacefully at her home on Dec. 20.
Gail was born at Fitkin Hospital in Neptune on May 24, 1954. She Graduated from Point Pleasant Boro High School in 1972 and was a graduate of Mercer Medical Center, Trenton in 1975.
She was a Supervising Nurse at for Deborah Heart & Lung Center in Browns Mills for over 30 years.
Gail will be greatly missed by her parents Archie & Joan Gifford, a cherished sister and brother, Virginia Carroll & her husband Joseph, Thomas Gifford & his wife Tina. Also surviving are six nieces and nephews, Jessica Ujvary, Christina & Samantha Carroll, Daniel, Evan & Troy Gifford.
Neary-Quinn Funeral Home, Manasquan, was in charge of arrangements.
Funeral services will be held today, Friday, at 10 a.m., at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Allenwood Cemetery, in Allenwood.

Stephen L. [Tuzeneu] Tousignant
Stephen L. [Tuzeneu] Tousignant, 76, passed away Saturday, Dec. 18, at the Richmond Nursing Home, LaGrange, Ky.
He was born at home in the West Belmar section of Wall Township, where he lived for most of his life. Mr. Tousignant was a graduate of Drew University. He also attended Columbia University and Newark Law School.
Mr. Tousignant retired from Conrail, where he was employed as an environmental engineer. In the early 1960s, he helped to organize and taught at the first sheltered workshop in Monmouth County. He was a member of the Army Medical Corps in Texas and worked in the Fort Belvoir Hospital in Virginia.
Stephen loved duck hunting and decoy carving. He was a naturalist, and enjoyed gardening. Mr. Tousignant was fluent in seven languages and a lover of books.
A true and faithful friend, Stephen was always willing to go the extra mile to help family and friends. Selfless, he was a loving caregiver to both his mother and father, as well as his Uncle Ken, who was like a brother to him.
He was a life member of the Bay Head Historical Society, and was instrumental in the purchasing of the Loveland Homestead for the Historical Society Museum.
Mr. Tousignant was predeceased by his father, William Tuzeneu, of Wall, and his Uncle Ken Loveland, of Point Pleasant.
Survivors include his mother, Martha [Loveland] Tuzeneu; his daughter, Anne Brooks Skinner [Craig], of LaGrange, Ky.; grandchildren, Amanda, Craig Jr. and Emma; his ex-wife, Ouida Tuzeneu, of Point Pleasant; two sisters, Dianne Woolley [George], of Spring Lake Heights, and Catherine J. Davies [John], of Oneida, N.Y.; nieces, Cathy Woolley, of Manasquan, and Morganne Davies, of Alexandria, Va.; nephews, George J. Woolley III, of Jupiter, Fla., and J. Christian Davies, of Oneida, N.Y.
He will be missed, but never forgotten. A memorial service celebrating his life is being planned for the spring of 2011.
Donations may be made in his name to Bay Head Historical Society, P.O. Box 127, Bay Head, 08742.

Rose Marino Hess
Cary, N.C., resident Rose Marino Hess, formerly of Point Pleasant, died Sunday, Jan. 18 in Western Wake Medical Center.
She was 93 years old.
Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., Mrs. Hess lived most of her life in Point Pleasant and Bradley Beach, before moving to Cary, N.C.
She was a lifelong, devout Catholic.
She was predeceased by her husband, John Hess; her parents, John and Felicia Marino; and her siblings, Mary DeCesare, Catherine Rafanello, and Jack and Joseph Marino.
Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Phyllis and John Aiken, Cary, N.C.; three grandchildren, Kirk Tilton, Blakeslee, Pa., John Tilton, and his wife, Kristin, Annapolis, Md., and Christina Hoefer, Cary, N.C.; and two great-grand children; Meghan and Kathleen Tilton.
Funeral arrangements were from the Apex Funeral Directors, Apex, N.C.

Marie M. Yglesias
Little Egg Harbor resident Marie “Mary” L. Mastromonaco Yglesias, whose daughter lives in Point Pleasant, died Friday, Jan. 16 in Southern Ocean County Hospital, Manahawkin.
She was 69 years old.
Born in Bayonne, Mrs. Yglesias lived there until moving to Little Egg Harbor two years ago.
She was employed for 30 years as a librarian with the Bayonne Public Library, until recently retiring.
She attended St. Theresa’s Church, Tuckerton.
Mary had a deep love for her family, friends and country, and was a kind, compassionate, devoted wife and mother.
She had a profound fondness for the written word and instilled in her children and grandchildren a love of books.
She loved music and singing, and years ago loved to dance.
She had a quick wit, loved to laugh, and made others laugh.
She will be deeply missed and never forgotten.
Her best friend was her dog, Rockie.
She was predeceased by her husband of 39 years, Joseph; and a son, Frederick.
Surviving are one son, Joseph II; one daughter and son-in-law, Lenore and Mark Millan, Point Pleasant; and three grandchildren, Christina and Joseph Yglesias IV, and Mia Millan.
Funeral arrangements were from the Wood Funeral Home, Tuckerton.
Contributions in Mrs. Yglesias’ memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association Memorial and Honor Program, NCC, Box 2680, North Canton, OH 44720.

Katherine L. Johnson
Point Pleasant resident Katherine L. “Kit” Johnson died Monday, Jan. 19 in Ocean Medical Center, Brick Township.
She was 58 years old.
Born in South Orange, Mrs. Johnson lived in Point Pleasant for most of her life.
She was employed for one year as a bus aide for Briggs Taxi, Point Pleasant.
She was a communicant of St. Martha’s Church, Point Pleasant.
Kit will be greatly missed by her family and friends.
She was predeceased in 1980 by her husband, George J. Johnson; and by her parents, Leslie and Katherine Kassinger White; and her brother, Robert L. White.
Surviving are two daughters, Dawn Johnson, Brick, and Kelly Johnson, Point Pleasant; one brother, Bruce White, Edison; two sisters, Sandra Clayton, Matawan, and Barbara Bubolo, Palm Harbor, Fla.; two grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral arrangements are from the Van Hise & Callagan Funeral Home, Point Pleasant Beach.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. today in the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mrs. Johnson’s memory may be made to St. Gregory’s Pantry, Bay Avenue, Pint Pleasant Beach, 08742.

Kevin T. Hughes
Aberdeen resident Kevin T. Hughes, whose brother lives in Point Pleasant, died Monday, Jan. 19 in Riverview Medical Center Red Bank.
He was 52 years old.
Born in Newark, Mr. Hughes lived in South Orange and New York before moving to Aberdeen 20 years ago.
He attended George Washington University, Washington, D.C.
He was a partner with Colonial Art Decorators, New York City.
He was a parishioner of St. Clement’s Church, Matawan.
He was a former member of Spring Lake Country Club.
He was predeceased in 1990 by his father, Thomas Francis Hughes, and by his brother, Thomas Hughes, on Sept. 11, 2001.
Surviving are his wife of 23 years, Kathleen; one son, Kevin, Holmdel; two daughters, Erin and Katie, both of Holmdel; his mother, Sue Hughes, Wall Township; three brothers, Martin, San Rafael, Calif., Harold, Point Pleasant, and Mark, Wall; two sisters, Deborah Botner, Colts Neck, and Tara Leonardi, New Hope, Pa.; 17 nieces and nephews; and numerous friends and relatives.
Funeral arrangements are from the Holmdel Funeral Home, Holmdel.
A funeral Mass will be offered at 10 a.m. today in St. Clement’s Church, Matawan.

Barbara Tanfield
Myrtle Beach, S.C., resident Barbara Tanfield, whose son lives in Point Pleasant, died Sunday, Jan. 18.
She was 71 years old.
Mrs. Tanfield was born in Kearney.
She attended North Arlington Schools and the Berkeley Business College in East Orange.
She returned to Berkeley Business College years later where she was employed as the executive secretary to the president.
She retired in 1994 as the executive secretary to the president of Goody Hair Products.
She was a member of St. Michael Church.
She was a member of of Murrells Inlet, WOTM Lodge No. 2351.
She was predeceased by her daughter, Robin, and by her parents, William and Mabel Lawson McCance.
Surviving are her husband of 51 years, Bob; four sons and two daughters-in-law, Kevin, Robert Jr., and Charles, all of Myrtle Beach, S.C.; William and Danielle, Point Pleasant; and Caroline, Toms River; two daughters and one son-in-law, Leslie Ann Styles, Surfside Beach, S.C., and Susan and Mark Brady, Pine Beach; and six grandchildren, Kevin Jr., Thomas, and Matthew, Toms River, Christopher and Jeremy Styles, Surfside Beach, and Emily Brady, Pine Beach.
Funeral arrangements were from the Goldfinch Funeral Home, Murrells Inlet, S.C.
Contributions in Mrs. Tanfield’s memory may be made to St. Michael Catholic Church School Fund, P.O. Box 2659, Murrells Inlet, SC 29576.
