DR. ERLING WILLIAM CLAUSEN, 74, of Tinton Falls died Aug. 21, 2001 at Jefferson Hospital, Philadelphia. Born in Lindsay, Neb., he lived in Eatontown before moving to Tinton Falls. He was the retired president of the New Jersey Council of School Administrators, and the American Association of School Administrators (AASA). Prior to that, he was superintendent of schools in Berkeley Heights for 23 years. He served with the U.S. Army. He was awarded the AASA Distinguished Service Award in 1991 for his work leading educational missions to various European countries, and was integral in the development of a children’s investment trust introduced to the U.S. Senate. He was an avid tennis player. He was predeceased by a daughter, Cristi Jo Clausen, in 1997. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Joyce P. Newman of Tinton Falls; his daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Joy and Alan Cohen of Voorhees; his sister, Elva Urwin of Newman Grove, Neb.; and two grandchildren. Interment

DOROTHY M. PASSERO, 82, of Monmouth Beach died Aug. 28, 2001 at her children’s home in Rumson. Born in Flushing, Queens, N.Y., she had lived in Neptune for 40 years before moving to Monmouth Beach. She was a homemaker. She was a communicant of Holy Innocents Roman Catholic Church, Neptune. She was predeceased by her husband, Thomas, who died in 1985. She is survived by a son, Thomas Jr. of East Brunswick; a daughter and son-in-law, Linda and George Serbe of Rumson; and four grandchildren. Interment

PHYLLIS ANN CATANZARITI, 72, of Rumson died Sept. 6, 2001 at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Born in Rumson, she was a lifelong resident. She was employed at the electric power division at Bendix, Eatontown, for 40 years, retiring in 1992. She was a communicant of Holy Cross Roman Catholic Church, Rumson. Her activities included membership in the Rumson Senior Citizens. She is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Peter and Gladys Catanzariti of Rumson, and Frank and Mary Catanzariti of Maryland; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. JEAN A. MARTZ STOCKDALE, 51, of Deal died Sept. 10, 2001 at home. Born in Helfenstein, Pa., she lived in Eatontown, Tinton Falls and Neptune prior to moving to Deal recently. She was a homemaker. She was predeceased by her parents, Donald H. and Edna Weikel Martz. She is survived by her husband of 30 years, Thomas P. Stockdale of Deal; three sons, Jason M. Stockdale of Philadelphia, Pa., Sean C. Stockdale of Aberdeen, and Kyle M. Stockdale of Glassboro; her daughter, Courtney M. Stockdale of Deal; three brothers, Donald H. Martz, David H. MARY J. MALLOY DAALDER, 81, of Middletown died Sept. 6, 2001 at home. Born in New York City, she lived in Queens, N.Y., prior to moving to Middletown 18 years ago. She was a communicant of St. Leo the Great Roman Catholic Church, Lincroft section of Middletown, and a member of the St. Ann’s Guild at the church. She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Charles W. JOHN PATRICK WILLIS, 55, of Tinton Falls died Aug. 24, 2001 at Monmouth Medical Center Hospice, Long Branch. Born in Brooklyn, he had lived in Red Bank before moving to Tinton Falls. Mr. Willis was a voice and data technician for AYAYA, Holmdel, for 32 years. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 827. He is survived by his wife, Deborah (née Atkins); two sons, Bob and Gary; three daughters, Stacey Willis, Renee Walker and Alicia Walker; two brothers and sisters-in-law, James and Charlotte Willis, and Henry and Patricia Willis; and four grandchildren. WILLIAM McKINLEY LOGAN JR., 56, of Red Bank died Aug. 30, 2001 at home. Born in Long Branch, he lived in Ocean and Eatontown before moving to Red Bank 10 years ago. He was a supervisor for the N.J. Department of Transportation, Trenton. Prior to that, he was a foreman for Bendix, Eatontown. He was a former member of the John Johnson Elks Lodge, Eatontown. He was predeceased by his parents, William M. Sr. and Bernice Goode Logan; and his son, William McKinley Logan III. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Stephanie A. Logan and Brian Carden of Neptune; three brothers and one sister-in-law, Robert and Theresa Logan of Red Bank, Daniel Febus of Long Branch, and Charles Febus of Red Bank; a sister and brother-in-law, Elsie A. and Charles Mitchell of Irvington; three grandchildren; and his companion, Brenda M. RAYMOND SHEA SR., 75, of Hazlet died Sept. 17, 2001 at Bayshore Community Hospital, Holmdel. Born in South Amboy, he resided in Keyport before moving to Hazlet one year ago. He was an electrician at IFF Union Beach, for several years, retiring in 1990. Prior to that, he worked for Entron, Morganville. He served with the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Keyport. He was predeceased by his wife, Helen A. Shea in 2000. He is survived by three sons, Ronald Shea of Montague, Raymond Shea Jr. of Maine, and Robert Shea of Morganville; two daughters, Linda Thomas of Highlands, and Deborah D’Elia of Milford; his brother, James Shea of Madison, Conn.; his sister, Helen Pontecorvo of Oceanport; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. RUTH MAUGHLER, 77, of Shrewsbury died Sept. 19, 2001 at Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune, after a battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Born in Little Silver, she resided in Shrewsbury most of her life. She worked at Sansone Auto Dealership, Avenel, for eight years. Prior to that, she worked at Levine Motors, Red Bank. She was predeceased by her husband of 31 years, Kenneth G. Maughler, in 1977; her son-in-law, John "Jack" Phillips, in 2000; and a sister, Bette-Jean Hermann in 1973. She is survived by her daughter, Betty L. Phillips of Shrewsbury; her brother and sister-in-law, Rhea and Jean Longstreet of Seaford, Del.; and three grandchildren. Interment

KATHLEEN M. COBB, 83, of the Oakhurst section of Ocean Township, died Sept. 6, 2001 at home. Born in Newark, she lived in Sea Bright for 30 years, prior to moving to Oakhurst two years ago. She was predeceased by her husband, George J. Cobb in 1998; and a daughter, Gail Zamora in 1996. She is survived by two sons, George W. Cobb of Sandy, Ore., and Frederick J. Cobb of Sea Bright; three daughters, Georgeanne Lariccia of Lake Hiawatha, Patricia Underhill of North Carolina, and Kathleen Ciccone, with whom she lived; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
PATRICIA J. RUGG VILARDI, 64, of Middletown, formerly of Rumson, died Sept. 22, 2001 at home. She was a senior level contract analyst at level GS-13 at Fort Monmouth, Eatontown, retiring in 1992. She was a member of the Shadow Lake pet club. She was predeceased by her father, Kenneth Rugg. She is survived by her mother, Constance V. Oldham Rugg of Red Bank; three brothers, Kenneth Rugg of Florida, Gary Rugg of Texas, and James Rugg of Flemington; a son and daughter-in-law, Todd R. and Mary Jane Vilardi of Mantoloking; a daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth Ann "Betsy" and Louis Schuff of Atlantic Highlands; and three grandsons.
