HELEN NOONE KEEFE, 85, of BRADLEY BEACH, died Friday, April 4, 2003, at the Jersey Shore Med. Center, Neptune. Mrs. Keefe was a communicant of Ascension Church, Bradley Beach and had been active in various church choirs all her life. Mrs. Keefe was the sister of the late Msgr. John J. Noone, former Chancellor of the Diocese of Philadelphia.
She was a musician and an artist specializing in oils and was a member of the Art Students' League, NYC.
Born in Lost Creek, Pa., she had lived in Jersey City most of her life before coming here thirty eight years ago.
Surviving are a son, Francis X. Keefe, Jr., his wife, Susan of Mill Neck, N. Y., two daughters, Mary Keefe Crecca and her husband, Fred, of Woodside, NY, Margaret H. Keefe and her partner, Linda Storck of New York City, a brother, William Noone of Newtown Square, Pa., three grandchildren, Kirsten Vincent, Louis Keefe, Maggie Keefe and three greatgrandchildren, Julie, Kelly and Peter Vincent
A Funeral Ceremony was held at the Ocean Grove Memorial Home, 118 Main Avenue, Ocean Grove, NJ on Sunday aft., April 6th at 4:00 with burial on Monday aft. April 7th at 1:00 at the Holy Rosary Cemetery, Englewood, Pa. Friends were invited to call at the funeral home on Sunday from 2-4. PIA WEISS, 94, of BRADLEY BEACH, died Friday, April 11, 2003, at the Jersey Shore Med. Center, Neptune. She had been a co-owner with her husband of Gus' Sandwich Shop, Asbury Park in the 40s and 50s and then in Bradley Beach in the 60s and early 70s until retiring in 1972. Mrs. Weiss was a member of the Christian Science Society, Asbury Park.
Born in Germany, she had lived in the shore area since coming here from Germany at age 16. She was predeceased by her husband, August Weiss in 1976.
Surviving are a daughter, Emily Migut and her husband, Frank, a sister, Maria Kreitner of Mt. Tremper, N. Y., a grandson, Peter Migut of Bradley Beach and several nieces and nephews. A funeral ceremony was held at the Ocean Grove Memorial Home, 118 Main Avenue, Ocean Grove on Tues. morn., April 15th at 11:00 with burial following at the Hamilton Cemetery, Neptune, N. J. ANNA MARTHA DONNELLY, 89, of OCEAN GROVE, died April 17, 2003, at the Jersey Shore Med. Center, Neptune. She had been a licensed practical nurse at Francis Asbury Manor, Ocean Grove, N. J. for more than twenty five years until retiring in 1982. Mrs. Donnelly was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Ocean Grove and was a member of the auxiliary to the O'Brian VFW Post, Neptune. Born in Philadelphia, Pa., she had lived in Ocean Grove all her life. She was predeceased by her husband, Joseph Francis Donnelly in 1972 and a daughter, Joanne in 1943.
Surviving are three daughters, Linda Franzese and her husband, Robert, of Ocean Grove, Patricia Donnelly of Mays Landing and Jill Villapiano and her husband, Robert, of Neptune, three grandchildren, Robert (& Nancy) Franzese of Howell, Lisa Franzese of Eatontown and Michael Lentini of Brigantine and four greatgrandchildren, Joshua and Melanie DiCapua of Eatontown and Joseph and Sam Franzese of Howell.
A funeral ceremony was held at the Ocean Grove Memorial Home, 118 Main Avenue, Ocean Grove on Tues. morn., April 22nd at 11:00 with burial following at the Mt. Prospect Cemetery, Neptune, N. J. BEVERLEY MEREDITH EHRENFELD, 85, of OCEAN GROVE, died Saturday, April 19, 2003, at the Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. Mrs. Ehrenfeld was a 1939 graduate of the New Jersey College for Women, now Douglass College, with a BA degree in French and minor in German. She was active with her college alumnae association, the Ocean Grove community and St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Ocean Grove where she was a long time member. Beverley always was a friend who anticipated other peoples' needs and could be depended on for support. She had a life-long love of the seashore and was known for doing handstands and body surfing in the waves.
Born in Jersey City, N. J., she had lived in Highland Park more than thirty-five years before moving here permanently in 1975. She was predeceased by her husband, Ward E. Ehrenfeld in 1977 and a daughter, Sarah Meredith Rood, in 1990. Surviving are a daughter, Susan E. Loeser and her husband Ross C. of Charlotte, NC, four granddaughters, Anne Meredith Rood of New York, NY, Susan Elizabeth Rood of Weehawken, NJ, Beth Loeser Guinan of Paoli, Pa. and Sarah Catherine Campbell of Nashville, TN and a greatgranddaughter, Grace Sarah Guinan.
A Memorial Ceremony was held at St. Paul's United Methodist Church on Sunday aft., April 27th at 2:00. There were no calling hours. EDWARD WILLIAM KIEM, Sr. 68, of OCEAN TOWNSHIP, died Thursday, May 15, 2003, at home. He was currently the Vice President of Sales and Marketing for CCA Inc., of Newark. Mr. Kiem attended the Ocean Grove Auditorium. He was a U. S. Navy veteran of the Korean Conflict. Born in Elizabeth, NJ, he had lived in Colonia, upstate New York, Chicago and California before coming here 13 years ago. He was predeceased by a brother Raymond Kiem. Surviving are his wife, Joyce Cadmus Kiem, two sons, Edward W. Kiem, Jr., of Wisconsin and David Mattesky of Ocean Township, three daughters, Kathy Radek of Illinois, Diane McCarthy of Ocean Township and Tracy Slattery of Cedar Grove, a sister, Evelyn Chansky of Franklin Park, six grandchildren, Michael, Jackie, Holly, Casey, Brooke and George, two greatgrandchildren, Jada and Jalen and several nieces and nephews. VIRGINIA A. MARCIANO, 88, of NEPTUNE CITY, died Friday, June 6, 2003, at the MediCenter, Neptune City. She had worked as a seamstress for Roxanne's Swimsuits, Neptune for many years. After that, she worked at Freddies Bakery, Neptune. She was a member of the Our Lady Of Mt. Carmel Lodge, Asbury Park, serving as its treasurer for 30 years and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court Ascension #1323. She was predeceased by her husband of 48 years, Nicholas F. Marciano in 1984, and by three brothers, Thomas, Randolph and Lando Maccanico and three sisters, Frances Stebbins, Edith Maccanico and Florence DePonte. Surviving are her daughter, Lucille Tallman, three grandsons and their spouses, Joseph Tallman, Nicholas and Mary Tallman, Christopher and Tamara Tallman and the light of her life, her two great grandchildren, Alexander and Madeline Tallman. HAROLD W. RAINEAR, 82, of SPRING LAKE HEIGHTS, died Sunday, June 15, 2003, at the Jersey Shore Medical Center, Neptune. He was an employment specialist for Esso Exploration; Houston, Texas until retiring in 1983. Mr. Rainear was a graduate of Neptune High School and Ohio Wesleyan University, Delaware, Ohio and was president of the Alpha Sigma Phi fraternity. Mr. Rainear attended St. Pauls United Methodist Church, Ocean Grove where he was a member of the choir. He was a veteran of WW II. Born in Ocean Grove, he worked several foreign assignments for Esso before returning to New Jersey. Surviving are his wife of 55 years, Thelma Mount Rainear, a niece and her husband, Gaylord and Charles Schelleng of Wall Township, a grand niece, Anne Schelleng of San Antonio Texas, a sister-in-law, Beryl Mount of Wall Township, and three cousins Robert and Burton Perinchief, both of Florida and Kenneth Perinchief of Michigan. A funeral ceremony was held at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, New York & Embury Avenues, Ocean Grove on Wed. aft., June 18th at 2:00. AGNES M. HELLWEG, 91, of NEPTUNE, died Wednesday, June 18, 2003, at Jersey Shore Med. Center, Neptune. She had worked as a typist for the New York Life Insurance Co., New York City for more than forty-two years until retiring in 1971. Mrs. Hellweg was a communicant of Ascension R. C. Church, Bradley Beach. Born in Bronx, N. Y., she had lived there and in Ocean Grove since 1967 before coming here. Surviving are a sister, Muriel Guardin of Reno, Nevada, three nieces and two nephews. Burial
was held at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Hawthorne, N. Y. on Friday June 20th. There were no public services.
FLORENCE SCHERRER, 89, of WALL, died Friday, June 20, 2003, at Geraldine Thompson Medical Home, Allenwood. She was a member of the Tennent Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and had attended Brookdale and Monmouth Colleges. Mrs. Scherrer was an artist and had local shows. She was born in New York. Mrs. Scherrer was predeceased by her husband, Charles J., Jr. in 1964, and her daughter Deanna M. Scherrer in 2002. Surviving are her friends.
