RUTH M. NOWAK, 74, of BRADLEY BEACH, died Saturday, October 14, 2006, at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. She had worked as a secretary for the Van Leer Chocolate Company, Jersey City until retiring. She was born in Jersey City. Her husband, Walter S. Nowak survives her. No funeral ceremony has been scheduled at this time. There were no calling hours.
RAPHAEL "RAE" MACCANICO, 85, of SPRING LAKE HEIGHTS, died Sunday, October 22, 2006, at the Geraldine Thompson Care Center, Allenwood. She had worked as a hostess for the Hollywood Country Club, Deal, N.J. for more than thirty-five years until retiring in 1993. She was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, Court St. Margaret's, the Mt. Carmel Lodge and the Women's Auxiliary of the Spring Lake Heights Fire Department. She was a member of the Asbury Park Italian-American Club, the third order of the Holy Trinity and a communicant of St. Catharine's Roman Catholic Church, Spring Lake. Born in Asbury Park, she was a resident of Spring Lake Heights since 1951. Mrs. Maccanico was affectionately known as "Mom-Mom". She was predeceased by her parents, Gavino and Michela Perrotto Beradesco, by her husband Randolph Maccanico in 1970 and by a grand daughter Niki in 1991. Surviving are a daughter, Maria, and her husband, Alexander Amodio, of Ocean Township, and four sons, Gaetano "Tom, " and his wife, Jacqueline, of Brick, Gavino "Butch, " and his wife, Elaine, of Spring Lake Heights, Randolph, Jr., and his wife, Carol, of Spring Lake Heights, Michael, and his wife, Susanne, of Spring Lake Heights, a brother, Gavino Beradesco, of Eatontown, two sisters, Theresa Zaccaro, of Deal and Rose Marie Guthrie, of Virginia, thirteen grandchildren, Nina Amodio McLeod, Alexander Amodio, Jr., Deanna Amodio, Gregory Maccanico, Brett Maccanico, Renee Maccanico Felice, Darren Maccanico, Devin Maccanico, Randolph Maccanico, III, Michael R. Maccanico, Melanie Maccanico, Marc Maccanico and Michael A. Maccanico and 17 great grandchildren. Our Mom loved God and her family and passed that legacy on. A Mass of Christian Burial
was offered on Thursday, October 26th at 12:00 noon at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, Asbury Avenue at Pine Street, Asbury Park, with interment following at St. Catharine's Cemetery, Wall. Friends were invited to call at the Ocean Grove Memorial Home, 118 Main Avenue, Ocean Grove on Wednesday, Oct. 25th from 4:00 to 8:00 PM.
BENJAMIN CHARLES DOUGLAS of OCEAN GROVE, died on Friday, November 24, 2006 at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. He had worked as a school teacher in Newark until retiring and as a proofreader at the Newark Star Ledger. More recently he had owned and operated Day's Ice Cream Parlor and Restaurant in Ocean Grove. Ben served with the Army Air Corps in WW II, assigned to the 406th Fighter Group. Mr. Douglas formed the Ocean Grove Citizen Patrol and Ocean Grove Concerned Citizens. He was an Ocean Grove Auditorium Usher for more than 50 years, and a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church since 1950, where he participated in and led many organizations. Ben was the author of 2 books – “Rover Speaks Out” and “Journey of Faith” and he was a volunteer with the Ocean Grove Auditorium Refreshment Committee for 24 years. He was a wonderful Christian man, who loved the Lord, and will be surely missed. He was born in Marietta, PA on March 10th, 1918 and has been a resident of Ocean Grove since 1950. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Florence, and his sister, Genevieve Libhart. Surviving are his sons, David Donald Douglas of Ocean Grove and Wayne Benjamin Douglas of Florida, a sister, Elaine Fuhrman of PA, three grandchildren, two great grandchildren. nieces, nephews and many close friends. A memorial service were held at 1:00 PM on Saturday, December 9th at St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 80 Embury Avenue, Ocean Grove. SYLVIA TIMOURIAN, 93, of OCEAN GROVE, died Saturday, November 25, 2006, at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. She had worked as a commodities broker for Harper Publishing, New York, NY until retiring. Miss Timourian was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Ocean Grove Auditorium Ushers Association. Born in New York City, she lived there before moving to Ocean Grove more than 30 years ago. Surviving are a brother, Anarig Timourian, Jr., of Pompano Beach, Florida, and many nieces and nephews. Services wree private.
MARY LOUISE STOLL, 94, of OCEAN GROVE, died Sunday, December 10, 2006 at the MediCenter, Neptune City. She had worked as a registered nurse and instructor of nursing at St. Barnabas Hospital School of Nursing, Newark. Mrs. Stoll graduated from the nursing program at Mercy Hospital in Portsmouth, VA in 1935, and then graduated from the University of Virginia, receiving her bachelors degree in Nursing Education in 1938. Born in Vinton, VA, she grew up in Narrows, VA and then lived in Glen Ridge, NJ for 35 years before moving to Ocean Grove in 1987. She was pre deceased by her daughter, Mary Catherine Lawton, in 1999, by her brother, Wilson Donald Trout, by her sister, Catherine Trout Lloyd and by her parents, George Benjamin and Mary Ann Wagnor Trout. Surviving are her husband, Dr. George Fey Stoll, MD, a daughter, Elizabeth Louise Jones and her husband Lawrence of Swea City, Iowa and many nieces and nephews. A graveside service was held at Monmouth Memorial Park, Route 33, Tinton Falls on Wednesday, December 13th at 10:00 with burial following. There were no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, a contribution to the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association's Now and Forever Fund, 54 Pitman Avenue, Ocean Grove, 07756, or to St. Paul's United Methodist Church, 80 Embury Avenue, Ocean Grove, or to a charity of your choice, would be appreciated.
RUTH STOUT DEMIKOFF, 94, of NEPTUNE CITY, died Monday, December 18, 2006 at the Manor-By-The-Sea, Ocean Grove. Born in Princeton, NJ, she was a lifelong resident of NJ, and has resided in the shore area for over 40 years. In addition to her family, Ruth was known and loved by her many friends made in over 40 years of work at Monmouth Park race track, as well as many years of service as a volunteer at the Jersey Shore Medical Center in Neptune, where she continued serving into her 90s. She is survived by a son, Lester R. Perrine of Lambertville, NJ, a sister, Susan Fellers of Trenton, NJ, two grandchildren, Timothy Perrine of New Ringgold, PA and Cindy Perrine Felso of Alpharetta, GA, and eight great-grandchildren. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, and in accord with her wishes, the family asks that donations be made in Ruth's name to a church or charity of your choice.
INEZ HEINMETS of OCEAN GROVE, went to be with her Lord on Sunday, December 24, 2006. She was born on Nov. 22, 1921 in Boras, Sweden, the daughter of Sanfrid and Edith Johansson. She was the wife of the Rev. Leonard Heinmets who went home to be with his Lord on December 23, 2005. They had six children and 15 grandchildren, one of whom preceded them in death. Inez and Leonard immigrated from Sweden to Valley Stream, New York in 1956. They moved to Trinity Baptist Church in New York City in 1979, where they lived for 10 years before retiring to their home in Ocean Grove, New Jersey. Inez was a resident of the MediCenter, Neptune City for the last 3 years. She will lovingly be remembered and missed by her family and friends. Friends were invited to call from 10:00-11:00 on Saturday morning, December 30th at the Ocean Grove Memorial Home, 118 Main Avenue, Ocean Grove. A funeral service was held at 11:00. Interment
will be in Melon County Cemetery, Melon Township, Michigan.
CAROL L. BRADLEY, 84, of Seabrook Village, TINTON FALLS, died peacefully in Renaissance Gardens on Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2006. Carol was born on April 21, 1922, in Newark. She was a graduate of Barringer High School and Duke University. Carol also earned a Masters Degree in Education from the New Jersey State Teacher's College in 1957. At Duke University, Carol's activities included Alpha Chi Omega Sorority, Modern Dance Club, Hoof 'n Horn, Pan Hel Club, Glee Club, and the Social Standards Committee. During her married
life, she lived in various places in New Jersey: Livingston, Short Hills, Ocean Grove, Little Silver, and Tinton Falls. She taught second grade at Hartshorn School, Short Hills, for over 20 years. Carol was predeceased by her oldest son, Steven Howard Bradley, who died at age 7, shortly after finishing second grade. Steven was the reason Carol dedicated herself to teaching second grade from then on. Carol is survived by her husband, Floyd H. Bradley Jr.; and two children, Barbara Lynette Bradley of Tinton Falls, and Floyd, III of London, England. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Victoria Kent of Tinton Falls, and Camilla, William, and Melissa Bradley of London. Friends may call from 2 to 5 p.m. Tuesday at the Ocean Grove Memorial Home, 118 Main Avenue, Ocean Grove. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday morning at 10 a.m. Interment
will follow at Fairmount cemetery in Newark.
GEORGE N. SEUFFERT, 89, of ASBURY PARK, died Wednesday, January 24, 2007, at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. He had worked for Sears for more than 25 years until retiring in 1980. Mr. Seuffert attended the weekly worship at the Asbury Tower where he also had been a member of the bocce team and volunteered with many different programs. Born in Jersey City, he had lived there before coming to Asbury Park in 1950. George was a truly gentle man who will be missed by his many friends and family. He was predeceased by his wife, Gloria C. Schagelin Seuffert in 1993 and by his sister Gertrude Oest. Surviving are a son, Russell G. Seuffert and his wife Carol of Spring Lake Heights. Friends were invited to call from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday, January 26th at the Ocean Grove Memorial Home, 118 Main Avenue, Ocean Grove. A funeral service was held at 8:00 PM. Interment
