LEE SCHNEIDER of Ocean Grove, died Friday, November 16, 2007 at home surrounded by family and friends who loved her dearly. She was a dance movement therapist at Monmouth Medical Center, Long Branch. Ms. Schneider also worked at the Elizabeth Blackwell Health Center for Women and was a counselor and manager for Planned Parenthood, both in Philadelphia. A 1984 graduate of Temple University with a Bachelors Degree in Fine Arts, she was currently working on a Masters Degree in Dance Therapy. Lee’s enthusiasm for life was contagious, everyone who knew her was attracted to her energy. She had a wonderful caring way.
Lee was a very accomplished dancer, participating in Dances of Universal Peace and performing lithurgical dances. She founded the Ocean Grove Beautification Society, was a member of the Neptune Senior Center, and served as a facilitator for the Divorced, Separated and Widowed Group in Bradley Beach. Lee was an avid practitioner of aerobic activities as well as a student and leader of numerous yoga classes. She had a love of nature, art and the beach and most of all, her grandchildren. She was predeceased by her father, Dionisio Cecilio Surviving are her daughter, Lauren Schneider, and her husband, Michael Dwyer, of Oakland, CA, her son, Dean Peter Schneider, and his wife, Susan Neustadter Schneider, of Margate, NJ, her mother, Concetta Rosa Cecilio, her brother, George Cecilio, of Blackwood, NJ, three grandchildren, Steven Richard Schneider, Dena Neustadter Giannini and Ultraviolet Schneider-Dwyer, and by her nephews, cousins and many dear friends. Visitation was on Sunday from 12:00 - 4:00 PM at the Ocean Grove Memorial Home 118 Main Avenue, Ocean Grove. Interment
was private. In lieu of flowers, contributions to a charity of your choice, in her name would be appreciated.
EVELYN CLARK, 88, of OCEAN GROVE, died Tuesday, November 20, 2007, at the MediCenter, Neptune City. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Clark was a member of the Ocean Grove Women's Club and volunteered at the MediCenter in Neptune City for many years. Born in Elizabeth she had lived in Cedar Grove before moving to Ocean Grove 41 years ago. She was predeceased by her husband George R. Clark in 1982. Surviving are a niece, Patricia R. Gillen of Ocean Grove, a great niece Linda Gillen Preston and her husband, Greg, of Marietta, GA, a great nephew, Dennis J. Gillen of Bristol, PA and two great great nephews, Matthew D. Preston and Brian P. Preston. A blessing was given on Wednesday, November 21st at 1:00 PM at the Ocean Grove Memorial Home 118 Main Avenue, Ocean Grove, with interment following at Monmouth Memorial Park, Tinton Falls. MABEL L. WERNER, 94, of OCEAN GROVE died Wednesday, November 21, 2007 at the Manor by the Sea, Ocean Grove. Born in Newark, she had lived in Nutley and had summered in Ocean Grove until 1975 before moving here permanently in 1989. She had resided in the Francis Asbury Manor for the past 10 years. Mrs. Werner was a member of St. Paul's United Methodist Church, Ocean Grove; had volunteered for The Salvation Army and was an avid bridge player. She was predeceased by her loving husband, Albert H. Werner, in 1996, by her parents, William and Lillie LaRue, by her sister, Lillian M. LaRue, and by her brother-in-law, Edward R. Werner. Surviving are her sister-in-law, Lois M. Werner, her nieces, Heidi Santin and Patricia Noxon, and her nephews, David and Richard Werner. A funeral service was held on Saturday, November 24th at 10:00 AM at the Ocean Grove Memorial Home, 118 Main Avenue, Ocean Grove. Interment

SAMUEL S. “Skip” SANTANIELLO, Jr., 65, of NEPTUNE, died Wednesday, December 5, 2007 at the Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune. He retired in 2007 from the Schroth Center, LADACIN Network, Ocean Township. He also worked at Holy Innocents Church in Neptune for 15 years and prior to that he was the owner of Skip’s Tours, Neptune. Mr. Santaniello was a communicant of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, Asbury Park and a graduate of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Grammar School and Neptune High School. Skip was an avid golfer and loved all sports. He had coached the Neptune Little League for 15 years and could always be found on the fence at the Scarlet Flyer Games. He was predeceased by his parents, Samuel S. Sr., in 1987 and Cecelia Sullivan Santaniello in 1993 and by his brother, Michael Joseph Santaniello. He is survived by his loving sister Virginia A. Santaniello, his many cousins and friends and his pets, Stormy and Angel. Friends were invited to call from 4-8 PM on Friday at the Ocean Grove Memorial Home, 118 Main Avenue, Ocean Grove. was offered on Saturday, December 8th at 11:00 AM at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Roman Catholic Church, Asbury Avenue, Asbury Park, with entombment following at Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Neptune.
MORTIMER "Martin" REINHARD, 84, of ASBURY PARK, died Wednesday, December 5, 2007, at the Hospice Home, Burlington, NC. He had worked as a salesman for The Equitable Insurance Society until retiring. He was born in Brooklyn, NY. Mr. Reinhard was a United States Army Veteran serving during World War II. Surviving are his son, Johnny Reinhard of New York, NY, and a daughter, Leslie Albine of Mebane, NC. A graveside service was held on Thursday, December 13th, at the Monmouth Memorial Park, Tinton Falls with burial following.
BARBARA R. HURRY, 76, of OCEAN GROVE, died Monday, December 10, 2007, at home. She had worked as a teacher until retiring. She received her masters degree from Syracuse University. Mrs. Hurry was born in Huntington, NY Surviving are a brother, Robert Hurry of Hempstead, NC. Services were private.
EUNICE C. “Topsy” STOKES, 91, of WEST ALLENHURST, died Sunday, December 16, 2007 at the Imperial Care Center, Neptune. Mrs. Stokes was born on December 10, 1916 in Hopewell, VA and spent her youth in Elizabeth, NJ. She attended Batten High School in Elizabeth where she was president of both the National Honor Society and her Methodist Youth Group. She worked for Prudential Insurance Company in Newark where she met Howard K. Stokes. They married
and spent over 50 years in Allenhurst. She spent most of her life renovating their home at 214 Allen Avenue. Mrs. Stokes was a member of the First United Methodist Church on Grand Avenue in Asbury Park and a member of the Allenhurst Beach Club. She was predeceased by her husband Howard K. Stokes in 1997. Surviving are her daughter, Carol S. Steinat of West Allenhurst, her three sons, H. Kemble Stokes, Jr., of Rockville, MD, Ronald C. Stokes of Jamison, PA and Philip N. Stokes of Plano, TX, ten grandchildren and four great grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 27th at 10:00 AM at the Ocean Grove Memorial Home, 118 Main Avenue Ocean Grove, with interment following at Monmouth Memorial Park, Tinton Falls. Friends may call at the funeral home from 2-4 and 7-9 PM Wednesday.
MARGARET "Peggy" KORTMAN ASHTON, 101, of NEPTUNE, died Wednesday, December 26, 2007 at the Imperial Care Center, Neptune. She was a homemaker. Mrs. Ashton was predeceased by son, granddaughter, and 2 brothers Surviving are two daughters and their husbands Margie and Tony Hughes of Bradley Beach and Susan and Paul Van Slooten of Ocean Township, seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and her extended family. Services were private at the convenience of the family.
