Born in Jersey City, Mr. Fenton lived in South Orange for 44 years before moving to Short Hills two years ago. He worked for AT&T; in Newark from 1961-1991, retiring as a manager. Mr. Fenton received a B.A. degree in business from St. Peter's College in Jersey City. He was a former member of the South Orange Elks, and a member of the American Legion in Harrison, the AT&T; Pioneers Club and the Five O'Clock Club at Cryans and Meads.
Mr. Fenton was the beloved husband of the late Margaret Sheahan Fenton; devoted father of Robert D. Fenton Jr., Suzanne Whitley, Maggie Miggins, Dorothy Fenton, Elizabeth Fletcher and Claire Fenton. He is also survived by 12 grandchildren.

Born in South Orange, Mrs. Lynch was a resident there until 2006 when she relocated to Miami, Fla., to be closer to family there. She worked as an admitting clerk at the Hospital Center at Orange for 27 yeras, retiring in 1996. She was a lifetime member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church, South Orange and a longtime member of the South Orange Women's Club.
She was the beloved wife for 32 years to the late Cornelius F. Lynch, the devoted mother of Jeffrey Lynch and his wife, Cheryl, and Linde Jensen and her husband, J.J., the loving grandmother of Courtney A. and Neil R. Lynch, and the dear sister of Marion Ortman and Margaret Eisenman.

John J. Bird Jr., 67, originally from Short Hills, passed away Sunday, may 18, at Eisenhower Medical Center in Palm Desert, Calif. Arrangements are by the Jacob A. Holle Funeral Home, Maplewood (online guest book available at jacobhollefuneralhome.com).
A graduate of Millburn High School and Villanova University, John was a devoted family man with a larger-than-life sense of humor, a magic touch in the kitchen and a flair for the dramatic. He will be remembered by all who knew and loved him as Big Bird.
John was preceded in death by his parents, John and Ann Bird. He is survived by his wife, the former Nora Coleman Quayle; children, Sterrin Gooch (Scott), John J. Bird III (Kristina) and Ann Mulford (James); grandchildren, James Robert and Sean Patrick Mulford, Ian Jordan Bird, Thomas Lawson Gooch and the soonto-arrive, Mary Catherine Gooch; sister, Mary Bird Holle, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial gifts to Eisenhower Medical Center in Palm Desert, Calif., and St. Rose of Lima Church in Short Hills, N.J. would be appreciated.

Mrs. Kniffin was a 1954 graduate of Connecticut College with a bachelor of science degree in chemistry. She was a past member of the Orange Lawn Tennis Club and a former volunteer with the Orange Memorial Hospital Auxiliary. Mrs. Kniffin was the beloved wife of the late David B. She was the beloved wife of the late Kenneth Alexander; devoted mother of Kim Cook and Anthony Alexander, and loving grandmother of Jessica Cook. Eleanor Mae Englert
Eleanor Mae Englert, 88, of Bradley Beach, entered into eternal rest on Friday, Jan. 13 at Manor by the Sea Nursing Home, Ocean Grove.
Born in Point Pleasant, Eleanor lived most of her life in Bradley Beach. She was a communicant of the Church of the Ascension, Bradley Beach, where she retired after 20 years of working at the Rectory at the Church of the Ascension.
Predeceased by her husband Harold Charles Englert, Jr. in 1991, she is survived by her beloved son James F. Englert and his wife Linda; beloved daughter, Nancy Kurtanick and her husband John of Williamstown, Pa.; cherished grandchildren, Daniel and Nicholas Englert, Sandra Lear, Joseph and Ralph Corwin and Michelle Kettle and her husband William; eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
She was predeceased by siblings Harold, Shirley and Florence. Eleanor is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made to The Church of the Ascension 501 Brinley Avenue, Bradley Beach, in loving memory of Eleanor.
